A Study on the T-branch Forming with 3-D Finite Element Method (3차원 유한요소법을 이용한 T형 가지관의 용접자리 성형 방법에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, the optimized initial hole shape for T-branch forming was proposed to obtain effective welding region. Design variables were determined by approximation analysis using volume constant condition. We performed 3D elastic-plastic FEM(Finite Element Method) analysis to simulate T-branch forming process. The variation of height and thickness of T-branch with various hole shapes was investigated. The optimized initial hole shape equation was obtained by using results for the numerical analysis.

Analysis for Strength Estimation of Adhesive Joints (접착이음의 강도평가에 대한 해석)

  • The objectives of this research are to establish the criteria of peel occurrence considering the shape of bond terminus and to compare the strength properties of some adhesive joints. The criteria of feel occurrence at the bond terminus was suggested. Peel loads of some adhesive joint(butt joint, T -shape specimen, single lap joint) were determined from tensile tests. Principal stress distributions of these joints were determined from finite element method analysis. Then, peel occurrence was estimated with intensity of stress singularity ' $K_{prin.}$' when the terminus shape was square, with average principal stress when the terminus shape was rounded. The conclusions are summarized as follows; (1) In the non-filleted model(e.g., butt joint, T-shape specimen), principal stress shows singularity at the bond terminus, intensity of stress(principal stress) singularity ' $K_{prin.}$&apso; can use as the criteria of peel occurrence at the bond terminus. (2) In the filleted model(e.g., single lap joint), principal stress doesn't show singularity at the bond terminus. Average principal stress can use as the criteria of peel occurrence at the bond terminus.'t show singularity at the bond terminus.   • A new velocity formulation technique, which contains the advantage of UBET and the shape function of FEM, is proposed. In the proposed technique, a shape function is used to improve the unreasonableness of elemental partition and to solve the difficulty of velocity-field determination. In order to verify the effectiveness of this rechnique, T-shaped forging processes are simulated. The results are compared with these obtained by experimental measurements in T-shaped forging. In T-shaped forging, good agreements between theory and experiment are also confined.

Effect of Shape and Flow Rate on T10 in Clearwell (정수지의 형상과 유입 유량이 T10에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • To guarantee the disinfection ability in clearwell, a value of CT is considered where C[mg/l] is disinfectant residual at the exit of clearwell and T[min] means $T_{10}$, the contact time when 10% of tracer is out of clearwell after introducing the tracer at the inlet. To meet a CT value required, increasing the C value is not recommended because high C value can increase potential of producing disinfection by product like THMs. Increasing the hydraulic efficiency surrogated by $T_{10}$ is thus an option widely recommended. Right now, it is widely adopted estimating $T_{10}$ considering LW ratio only due to the suggestions of previous researches. The authors think however there are other factors to consider including shape, flow rate, configuration of inlet and outlet, and the existence of intra basin. This study is initiated to closely look at the effects of two factor on hydraulic efficiency. The factors are shape and inlet flow velocity, i.e., inflow. For that, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) model is developed and pilot test is also carried out. The results show that at a L/W ratio, disinfection ability is overestimated with larger length in shape and higher inlet flow velocity. This suggests that in determining $T_{10}$, the shapes of clearwell and inlet flow velocity should also be considered as well as L/W ratio.

Development of Side Forming Technology for the Tooth Part Using B.T.Pin in Cold Forming Process (B.T.Pin을 이용한 치형부품의 측면 냉간성형공법 개발)

  • In this study, the method of process design for side forming of a tooth part used for a component of automobile transmission was suggested using FE-simulations. To develop the side forming for the tooth part, in this paper, the shape factors of B.T.Pin was considered as design parameters. The shape factors of B.T.Pin were selected to be the round of pin, reinforced angle and reinforced length. Based on FE simulation results, appropriate shape factor without causing any defects was selected. In addition, to increase the strength of pin, the combination of shape factor having minimum stress after side forming was selected using FE-simulation. In addition, with design of a die set, cold side forming of the tooth part was experimented to estimate effectiveness of the designed B.T.Pin. From experiments, it was found that the tooth part with complete formation of the tooth was obtained without making any forming defects and punch fracture.

A Judgment on Gathered Skirt's Shape by Visual Image (개더스커트의 시각적 이미지에 의한 형상평가)

  • This research was to judge on the gathered skirt's shape by visual images that was from the different gathered skirts according to different sewing conditions; fabrics(cotton, mixed-wool, polyester), ratio of gathers(1.5T, 2.0T, 2.5T). Questionnaire consists of 33 semantic differential scale expressing gathered skirt's image, and 10 items of the shape were measured by 3D measurements method. The data were analyzes by factor analysis, correlation analysis, ANOVA. The image of gathered skirts was composed of the five factors of activities, attraction, grace, softness, and ordinary and it was showed that these five factors occupied 68.4% of the total variance. The shape of gathered skirts was composed of the two factors of the side and the front, and it was showed that these two factors occupied 93.6% of the total variance. According to correlation analysis of visual shape, the front was significant in activities, attraction and ordinary, and the side was significant in activities, grace and ordinary. As a result of ANOVA, the visual images were significant in ratio of gathers. 2.5 ratio of gathered skirts were perceived to be more active and attractive, and 1.5 ratio of gathered skirts were more ordinary and graceful.

  • The body structure of a bus is generally assembled by using various spot welded box sectional members. The shape of window pillar joint is ordinarily built up by T-type member. It has been shown that T-type member has problems like high stress concentrations, low fatigue strength and low structural rigidity. In this study, to solve these problems a new approach to optimize the design of the bus window pillar joint was tried by FEM analysis and experiments. To describe the shape of the gusset connecting the vertical and horizontal members of the T-type window pillar joint B-spline curve was adopted and this curve was optimized . It was found that the new model developed could effectively improve fatigue durability an structural rigidity.

  • In this paper, we propose the planar folded monopole antenna with an inverted T-shape notch in ground plane. The proposed antenna is not only varied to a width of inner and outer patch lines to broaden bandwidth, but also it is inserted to a modified inverted T-shape notch with the same length of horizontal and vertical slit, difference of its width is about twice in the ground plane to broaden bandwidth. It is designed and simulated.
