Characteristics of the Multi-Hydrogen Bonded Systems: DFT Description on the Solvated Electrons

  • The multi-hydrogen bonded systems with the solvated electrons are investigated at the B3LYP/6-311++$G^{**}$ basis set level. The symmetrical linear geometrical characteristic is common for the dimer systems, while for the tetramer system, the tetrahedron configuration is generated. The NBO charge analyses demonstrate that the multi-hydrogen-multi-electron (mH-ne) coupling exist in these anion systems, as is supported by the electrostatic potential and the molecular orbital analyses. The positive chemical shift value of the central hydrogen ($H_c$) and the negative chemical shift value of the terminal hydrogen ($H_t$) indicate that the $H_c$ is electronegative while the $H_t$ is electropositive, respectively. Strong coupling between two central hydrogen atoms is demonstrated by the large spin-spin coupling constants. The solvated electron donates significant contributions for the stability of these systems.

KSTAR PF 초전도자석의 크기 및 재료에 따른 결합손실 특성 분석 (Analysis of Coupling Loss with Size and Material in the KSTAR PF Superconducting Coils)

  • It is important to predict AC loss in $Nb_3Sn$ and NbTi cable-in-conduit-conductor (CICC) reliably for the design and operation of large superconducting coils. The hysteresis loss in the superconducting filaments and coupling loss within strands and among strands in a cable or composite are dominant ac losses in superconducting magnets. The coupling loss in a superconductor can be characterized by identifying the coupling constant time $n{\tau}$. To reduce the coupling loss, all the strands (superconductor and Cu) in KSTAR (Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advance Research) are chromium plated with thickness of $l{\pm}0.5{\mu}m$. The ac losses of PF1, PF5 and PF6 coils has been measured by calorimetric method while applying trapezoidal current pulses with various ramp rate from 0.5 kA/s to 2 kA/s. The coupling time constants for $Nb_3Sn$ coils are $25{\sim}55$ ms and the values are not co-related with the coil size, the time constants for NbTi coil is 30 ms.

Effect of weak interlayer coupling on critical fluctuation in high $T_c$ superconductors

  • The magnetization and/or resistivity of high $T_c$ superconductors ($YBa_2Cu_3O_{7-\delta}$(YBCO) single crystal, $Bi_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_8$ (Bi-2212) single crystal, $Tl_2Ba_2CaCu_2O_8$ (Tl-2212) film, $HgBa_2Ca_2Cu_3O_8$ (Hg-1223) film) have been measured as a function of magnetic field H and temperature T. The extracted fluctuation part of the magnetization and conductivity exhibits a critical behavior consistent with the three-dimensional XY model. The dynamic critical exponent z does not sensitively vary with a type of the superconductors. The value of z ranges from 1.5 to $1.8{\pm}0.1$. However, the static critical exponent ${\nu}$ is the most largely increased in Tl-2212 that has a weaker interlayer coupling strength than YBCO; the value of ${\nu}$ is 0.669, 0.909, 1.19, and 1.338 for YBCO, Bi-2212, Hg-1223, and Tl-2212 respectively. The results indicate that the weak interlayer coupling along the c-axis of high $T_c$ superconductors near $T_c$ does not influence the dynamic critical exponent z (the same value of superfluid $^4He$), but significantly increases the static critical exponent ${\nu}$.

IrMn 스핀필터 스페큘라 스핀밸브의 자기저항 특성 (Magnetoresistance of IrMn-Based Spin Filter Specular Spin Valves)

  • 미소 자유자성층에 인접한 스핀필터층 (SFL; spin filter layer)을 갖는 Ta3/NiFe2/IrMn7/CoFe1/(NOL1)/CoFe2/Cu 1.8/CoFe( $T_{f}$)/Cu( $t_{SF}$ )/(NOL2)/Ta3.5 (두께단위 nm) 구조의 스페큘라 스핀밸브 (SSV; specular spin valve)를 마그네트론 스퍼터링 장치를 사용하여 제작하였다. 반강자성체 I $r_{22}$M $n_{78}$을 속박층으로 한 스핀필터 스페큘라 스핀밸브 (SFSSV; spin filter specular spin valve) 박막에 대하여 자유자성층의 두께 ( $t_{F}$)와 SFL의 두께 ( $t_{SF}$ )가 각각 1.5nm일 때 극대 자기저항 (MR; magnetoresistance)비 11.9%를 얻었으며, $t_{SF}$ 가 1.0nm으로 감소하여도 11%이상의 MR비를 유지하였다. 이것은 나노산화층 (NOL; nano-oxide layer)에 의한 스페큘라 전자와 SFL에 의한 전류분류효과의 증가 때문이다. 또한, 자유자성층과 피속박층 사이의 층간결합장 ( $H_{int}$; interlayer coupling field)은 RKKY력과 정자기결합력으로 설명할 수 있다. 자유자성층의 보자력 ( $H_{cf}$ ; coercivity of the free layer)은 기존의 스핀밸브 (TSV; traditional spin valve)에 비해 현저히 감소했으며, $t_{F}$가 1nm에서 4nm로 변하여도 4 Oe이하의 값을 유지하였다. 따라서 SFL의 삽입으로 자유자성층의 연자성 특성을 떨어뜨리지 않으면서 자유자성층 두께의 감소와 MR비의 향상을 가능하게 하였다.

Construction and Operation of High-$T_c$ Scanning SQUID Microscope

  • We constructed a high-$T_c$ scanning SQUID microscope (SSM) operating in the liquid nitrogen. We used a washer-type YBCO SQUID with inner and outer dimensions of $12{\mu}m$ and $36{\mu}m$, respectively, which was grown on the $SrTiO^3$ bicrystal substrate. The sample, rather than SQUID, was scanned using two stepping motors. We also developed readout electronics, stepping motor controller, and the software for system control and data display. We took images of various samples using our SSM and found that the spatial resolution is about $40{\mu}m$ and noise level is lower than $10^{-7}T/{\surd}Hz$ at 100 Hz and higher at lower frequencies. The noise level was much higher than that of a typical SQUID due to the other coupling from the electric parts. We present a simple argument on the inductive coupling between the sample and the SQUID which should be under-stood for the proper interpretation of the obtained images. By comparing the measured data with the simulation results the gap between the SQUID and the sample is estimated to be $40{\mu}m$.

Cloning and Expression of Cyclodextrin Glycosyltransferase Gene from Paenibacillus sp. T16 Isolated from Hot Spring Soil in Northern Thailand

  • Gene encoding cyclodextrin glycosyltransferase (CGTase), from thermotolerant Paenibacillus sp. T16 isolated from hot spring area in northern Thailand, was cloned and expressed in E. coli (JM109). The nucleotide sequences of both wild type and transformed CGTases consisted of 2139 bp open reading frame, 713 deduced amino acids residues with difference of 4 amino acid residues. The recombinant cells required 24 h culture time and a neutral pH for culture medium to produce compatible amount of CGTase compared to 72 h culture time and pH 10 for wild type. The recombinant and wild-type CGTases were purified by starch adsorption and phenyl sepharose column chromatography and characterized in parallel. Both enzymes showed molecular weight of 77 kDa and similar optimum pHs and temperatures with recombinant enzyme showing broader range. There were some significant difference in pH, temperature stability and kinetic parameters. The presence of high starch concentration resulted in higher thermostability in recombinant enzyme than the wild type. The recombinant enzyme was more stable at higher temperature and lower pH, with lower $K_m$ for coupling reaction using cellobiose and cyclodextrins as substrates.

  • This paper proposes a multi absorbing wave energy converter design, in which a hydrostatic transmission is used to transfer wave energy to electric energy. The most important feature of this system is its combination of the pressure coupling principle with the use of a hydraulic accumulator to eliminate the effects of wave power fluctuation; this maintains a constant speed of the hydraulic motor. Tilt motion of a floating buoy was employed as the power take-off mechanism. Furthermore, a PID controller was designed to carry out the speed control of the hydraulic motor. The design offers some advantages such as extending the life of the hydraulic components, increasing the amount of energy harvested, and stabilizing the output speed.

이중 및 삼중모드 공동 공진기로 구성된 2단 5-Pole 대역통과 필터 (2-state 5-pole bandpass filter consisted of dual and tripe-mode cavity resonator)

  • Generally, it is very important to study selective coupling between cavities of the filter structure using multimode cavity resonator. In this paper, we have manufactured 5-pole bandpass filter(BPF) using dual and triple-mode cavity resonator. To do so, we have derived the formulas for coupling coefficient about coupling between TE-modes from TM/TE-mode's tangential and lognitudinal field intensities each other. To implement the Chebyshev response, the intercabity slot combining dual-mode and triple-mode is designed to couple one H-field of TE-mode parallel to slot plate. In this paper, specially it is derived the formulas for T $E_{11p}$-mode from TE-modes, and determined after obtaining location and size of intercabity slot from the equation. In this ppaer, based on this result, we designed and implmented teh bandpass filter operated at the center frequency of 14.5GHz with a Chebyshev response. For the manufactured cavity filter, dual-mode and triple-mode cavity are resonted by two orthogonal T $E_{113}$-modes, and by two orthogonal T $E_{113}$-modes and one T $M_{012}$-mode, respecitively. The 2-stage 5-pole BPF proposed in this paper has the insertion loss of -2.32dB, the reflection loss of -15dB in the passband, and the out-or-rejection of -67dB.

불연속암반에서의 열-수리-역학적 상호작용에 대한 수치해석적 연구 (A numerical study on the coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical behavior of discontinuous rock mass)

  • 열-수리-역학적 상호작용을 해석하기 위한 유한요소 코드가 개발되었다. 이 코드는 Noorishad(1984)에 의해 제시된 유한요소 수식화에 기초하였으며, 절리 거동은 Goodman 의 절리 구성 모델로 모사되었다. 개발된 코드가 각각 절리가 있거나 없는 두가지 종류의 수갱 모델에 대한 T-H-M 상호작용 해석에 적용되었다. 절 리가 없는 모델에 대해서, 수갱벽면으로부터 바깥 방향으로 온도 증가가 뚜렷이 나타났다. 절 리가 있는 모델에 대해서, 절리의 닫힘이 열팽창에 의해 생겼으며, 물이 암석기질보다 낮은 열 전도도와 높은 비열용량을 보이기 때문에 절리를 따라 온도 분포가 상대적으로 낮게 나타났다. 또한 절리 내에서의 열 유동의 영향이 암반내에서의 수리유동의 영향보다 더 크다고 결론내릴 수 있다.

  • Additional magnetooptical Kerr effect (AMOKE) was observed in several multilayer structures. For Fe/Pd and Co/Cu Multilayers, AMOKE enhanced the Kerr rotation in short wavelength side, while for Fe/Ag and FeSi/Cu multilayer systems the Kerr rotation enhancement appeared in long wavelength side. A number of ferromagnetic/nonmagnetic/ferromagnetic(FM/NM/FM) sandwiches showed that the AMOKE led to oscillations of Kerr rotation and Kerr ellipticity in certain wavelength range with changing NM layer thickness similar to the oscillatory interlayer coupling. The oscillation of effective optical constants related to the MOKE oscillation was observed for the first time. The mechanisms of the AMOKE were discussed.
