  • 5주령시 병아리에 대하여 볶은 콩을 이용한 고열량 사료 1030Cal구 ($T_2$ 구)를 만들고 이를 830Cal의 관용사료구(C구)와 5주간 비교시험 한 결과 다음과 같은 성적을 얻었다. 1) 증체량에 있어서 $T_1$, $T_2$구는 C구에 비하여 증체량이 높으며 5%수준의 유의차가 있었다. 한편 L.S.D.-Test에 의하면 $T_1$과 C구 사이에만 5%의 유의차를 보였다. 2) 사료섭취량에 있어서는 $T_2$, $T_1$, C구의 순으로 사료를 절약할 수 있는데 L.S.D.-Test에 의하면 $T_2$구와 C구간에 1%의 유의차가 있으며 약 9%의 사료가 절약되었고 $T_1$구와 C구간에는 5%의 유의성이 있고 약 3%의 사료가 절약되었다. 3) 경제성에 있어서 추일수당 사료비는 $T_1$, $T_2$구 모두 C구보다 고가의 경향이 있어 볶은 콩의 실용가치를 감소시킨다. 그러나 육계 판매가격에 있어서 $T_1$구는 24.85원의 이익으로 C구 26.43원보다 하회하는 결과를 보인다. Effects of Agricultural By-Product Feeds on Growth and Carcass Characteristics of Korean Native Steer (농산 혼합 부산물 첨가급여가 송아지 질병 및 거세 한우 성장 및 도체특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out investigate the effects of dietary supplementation of agricultural by-product feed(persimmon-pell+barley bran+fermented rice bran+activated carbon) on calves disease, growth and carcass characteristics of Korean native steer. A total of twenty Korean native steer were allocated into four feeding group and assigned to four dietary treatments: Control(normal concentrate as a basal diet), T1(1% addition of by-product feeds), T2(3% addition of by-product feeds) and T3(5% addition of by-product feeds). The calf diarrhea was the highest at Control, while T3 was the lowest. The breath disease was the lowest at T2, occurrence with diarrhea and breath disease was the highest at Control. The daily gain was orderly ranked as T2(0.76kg)>T1(0.7kg), T3(0.70kg)>Control(0.67kg). The back fat thickness was orderly ranked as T2>T3>Control>T1, eye muscle area was orderly ranked as T3>T1>Control>T2. Grade of meat quantity was the highest at T1(2.3), but fat color, firmness and maturity tends to have a similar result. The marbling score and quality grade of T2 were the highest at 5.0 and 3.5, respectively. Based on the study, agricultural by-product feeds are able to many used for various purposes at disease reduce, increment of meat quantity and improvement of quality grade.

Changes in Physicochemical Properties of Ground Pork Meat Containing Grape Peel during Refrigerated Storage (포도과피를 첨가한 분쇄돈육의 냉장저장 중 품질변화)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of grape peel on the physicochemical properties of ground pork stored at 4℃ for 10 d. Four types of ground pork were evaluated: T0 without grape peel, T1 with 0.3% grape peel, T2 with 0.7% grape peel, and T3 with 1.0% grape peel. The pH increased during storage, with that of T3 the lowest (p<0.05). The L-value and a-value decreased during storage, and the a-values of T2 and T3 were significantly higher than those of T0 and T1 (p<0.05). The b-values of T0 and T1 increased with a longer storage period (p<0.05), but those of T2 and T3 were not significantly changed. The TBARS (2-thiobarbituric acid reactive substances) content increased with a longer storage period, and the TBARS content of both T2 and T3 was significantly lower than that of T0 and T1 (p<0.05). DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) free radical scavenging activity declined with a longer storage period, and the activity of T2 and T3 was significantly higher than that of T0 and T1 (p<0.05). The VBN content of T0 and T1 also increased with a longer storage period (p<0.05), but the VBN content of T2 and T3 was not significantly changed. After storage for 4 d, the water-holding capacity declined and cooking loss and hardness increased (p<0.05), and these parameters were not significantly different among any samples. Chewiness increased with a longer storage period (p<0.05). The results suggest that the addition of grape peel to ground pork can enhance its functionality.

T cell phenotype and intracellular $IFN-{\gamma}$ production in peritoneal exudate cells and gut intraepithelial lymphocytes during acute Toxoplasma gondii infection in mice

  • Although there are many reports on the splenic (systemic) T cell response after Toxoptasma gondii infection, little information is available regarding the local T cell responses of peritoneal exudate cells (PEC) and gut intraepithelial Iymphocytes (IEL) following peroral infection with bradyzoites. Mice were infected with 40 cysts of the 76K strain of T. gondii, and then sacrificed at days 0, 1, 4, 7 and 10 postinfection (PI). The cellular composition and T cell responses of PEC and IEL were analyzed. The total number of PEC and IEL per mouse increased after infection, but the ratio of increase was higher in IEL. Lymphocytes were the major component of both PEC and IEL. The relative percentages of PEC macrophages and neutrophils/eosinophils increased signiflcantly at day 1 and 4 PI, whereas those of IEL did not change significantly. The percentage of PEC NK1.1 and ${\gamma\delta}T$ cells peaked at day 4 PI (p < 0.0001), and CD4 and $CD8{\alpha}T$ cells increased continuously after infection. The percentages of IEL $CD8{\alpha}$ and ${\gamma\delta}T$ cells decreased slightly at first, and then increased. CD4 and NK1.1 T cells of IEL did not change significantly after infection. $IFN-{\gamma}-producing$ PEC NK1.1 T cells increased significantly from day 1 PI, but the other T cell subsets produced $IFN-{\gamma}$ abundantly thereafter. The proportion of IEL $IFN-{\gamma}-producing$ $CD8{\alpha}$ and ${\gamma\delta}T$ cells increased significantly after infection, while IEL NK1.1 T cells had similar $IFN-{\gamma}$ production patterns. Taken together, CD4 T cells were the major phenotype and the important $IFN-{\gamma}$ producing T cell subsets in PEC after oral infection with T. gondii whereas $CD8{\alpha}T$ cells had these roles in IEL. These results suggest that PEC and IEL comprise different cell differentials and T cell responses, and according to infection route these factors may contribute to the different cellular immune responses.

  • In order to obtain basic biological data for effective seed production of the red sea bream, Pargus major, the influence of water temperature on egg development was investigated. The time of egg development was shorter with higher water temperature. The relationships between the water temperature($T\;:\;^{\circ}C$) and the required time(t : hour) from egg to each developmental stage were given as follows : 8-cell 1/t=0.0618T-0.5877(r=0.9899) Morula : 1/t=0.0284T-0.2556(r=0.9948) Kupffer's : 1/t=0.0076T-0.0829(r=0.9902) vesicle Hatching : 1/t=0.0031T-0.0350(r=0.9985) Biological minimium temperature for the egg development was estimated to be $10.2^{\circ}C$ in average.

Effect of cooling water and inverse lighting on short chain fatty acid and blood lipid of broiler chickens in closed poultry house during hot weather (혹서기 무창계사에서 육계의 혈액지질 및 짧은 사슬지방산에 관한 역전점등과 냉각수 효과)

  • This experiment evaluated the interaction effect of extreme heat diet(EHD), inverse lighting, and cool water on the growth performance of broiler chickens under extreme heat stress. There were 4 experimental groups (T1: EHD 1, 10:00-19:00 dark, 19:00-10:00 light, cold water $9^{\circ}C$; T2: EHD 2, 10:00-19:00 dark, 19:00-10:00 light, cold water $9^{\circ}C$; T3: EHD 1, 09:00-18:00 dark, 18:00-09:00 light, cold water $14^{\circ}C$; T4: EHD 2, 09:00-18:00 dark, 18:00-09:00 light, cold water $14^{\circ}C$), each group composed of 25 broilers and the experiment was repeated 3 times. EHD 1 contained soybean oil, molasses, methionine and lysine. EHD 2 contained all nutrients of EHD 1 and vitamin C additionally. As a result, T1 and T2 displayed higher body weight increase and diet intake compared to T3 and T4 (p<0.05). The weights of their liver and gizzard were similar but the weights of the thymus and bursa F were higher for T1 and T2 compared to that of T3 and T4 (p<0.05). It was observed that T1 and T2 displayed higher concentrations of blood triglyceride, total cholesterol, HDL-C and blood sugar compared to that of T3 and T4 but LDL-C level was higher for T3 and T4 compared to that of T1 and T2 (p<0.05). T1 and T2 displayed higher levels of immunity substances such as IgG, IgA and IgM compared to T3 and T4 but the blood level of corticosterone displayed to be lower for T1 and T2 compared to T3 and T4 (p<0.05). The T1 and T2 contained a higher amount of fecal lactobacillus compared to that of T3 and T4 but the T3 and T4 contained a higher amount of fecal E. coli, total aerobic bacteria, coliform bacteria compared to that of T1 and T2 (p<0.05). T1 and T2 displayed higher concentrations of cecal acetic acid, propionic acid and total short chain fatty acids compared to T3 and T4 but T3 and T4 displayed higher concentrations of butyric acid, isobutyric acid, valeric acid and isovaleric acid compared to T1 and T2 (p<0.05). These results have been observed that broiler chickens exposed to extreme heat stress with feeding EHD, inverse lighting and cold water would improve blood lipid, and elevate the production of immunity substance, beneficial microorganisms, and short chain fatty acids. This provision would also reduce the blood sugar consumption rate as energy sources and these effects will improve the growth performance of the broilers exposed to extreme heat.

Comparative Evaluation between 1.5T vs 3.0T MRI in Brain Metastasis According to its Size

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the detection rate of brain metastasis according to size of nodule between 1.5T and 3.0T MRI 대상 및 방법: We reviewed 44 patients with primary tumors and clinical symptoms suggesting brain metastasis. After administration of double dose gadolinium-DTPA, MR imaging was performed with 3D SPGR sequence by 3.0T MRI and then with T1 SE sequence by 1.5T MRI. Consequently, comparison was done in 1.5T T1 SE sequence and 3.0T 3D SPGR sequence. With use of the signal intensity (SI) measurements in the metastatic nodules and adjacent tissue, metastatic nodule-to-adjacent tissue SI ratio were calculated. In each patient, the number of metastatic lesions detected in 1.5T and 3.0T, and their size were assessed qualitatively by three blinded readers.

  • Monolayer $MoS_2$ is energetically most stable when it has a 1H phase, but 1H to 1T phase transition ($1H{\rightarrow}1T$) is easily realized by various ways. Even though magnetic moment is not observed during $1H{\rightarrow}1T$, $0.049{\mu}_B/MoS_2$ is obtained in local 1T phase; 75% 2H and 25% 1T phases are mixed in ($2{\times}2$) supercell. Most magnetic moment is originated from the 1T phase Mo atom in the supercell, while the magnetic moments of other atoms are negligible. As a result, magnetic/non-magnetic boundary is created in the monolayered $MoS_2$. Our result suggests that $MoS_2$ can be applied for spintronics such as a spin transistor.

Effects of Dietary Fish Oil, Vitamin E and C Supplementation on DHA Deposition and Shelf-Life in Broiler Chickens (어유, 비타민 E 및 C의 급여가 닭고기의 DHA 축적 및 저장성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was compared the effect of shelf-life and DHA accumulation in chicken meat from broilers fed experimental diets for two weeks($21{\sim}35$ days) of growers. Two hundred-ten male Ross broilers, 1 day of age, were randomly allocated to seven treatment groups. Experimental diets were assigned to each of the seven groups: control diet containing tallow, T1 with 1.00% fish oil, T2 with 2.00% fish oil, T3 with 2.00% fish oil, 200 ppm vitamin E and 200 ppm vitamin C, T4 with 2.00% fish oil and 200 ppm vitamin C, T5 with 2.00% fish oil and 200 ppm vitamin E, and T6 with 3.00% fish oil. The levels of DHA in chicken meat was the highest in T6, and T1 in breast muscle and thigh muscle with skin was higher than that of $T2{\sim}T5,\;T2{\sim}T5$ in raw chicken meat and wing with skin was about two-fold higher than that of T1. The contents of DHA in chicken meat according to storage days were significantly reduced to 42.30%, 49.38% and 48.51% in T1, T2 and T6, respectively, and this decrease was higher than that of T3, T4 and T5 (p<0.05). Particularly, the rate of reduction of DHA was the lowest in the T3 and T5, which were the lowest in TBARS(thiobarbituric acid reactive substances). TBARS increased in the order of T6, T2 and T1, but reduced in the order of T3, T5 and T4 according to storage days, and there was a significant difference among the treatment groups (p<0.05).
