Multi-channel magnetocardiography (MCG) has been proposed to detect ischemic heart disease because its sensitivity is quite high comparing with other conventional diagnostic tools. Especially, current map and magnetic field map of MCG provide crucial information on whether myocardiac muscles maintain the normal conduction pathway. In addition, MCG parameters derived from repolarization are useful to detect coronary artery disease. Recently, there was a study reporting that R- and T- wave amplitude are highly correlated with ischemic heart disease. In this study, we studied R- and T-wave amplitude and their ratio as well as MCG parameters. MCG data from 20 young, 20 age-matched controls, and 20 myocardial infarction (MI) patients were analyzed. As a result, MCG parameters showed significant change in MI patients comparing to those of controls. R- and T-wave amplitude of MI patients showed a feature of severe ischemic heart disease even though it was difficult to find consistent values. Further study is needed to reveal the relations between small T-wave amplitude and coronary artery disease.
A general scheme is developed which determines the Lagrangian motions of water particles by the Eulerian velocity at their mean positions by use of Taylor's theorem. Utilizing the Stokes finite-amplitude wave theory, the mass transport velocity which includes the effects of higher-order wave components is determined. The fifth-order theory predicts the mass transport velocity less than that given by the existing second-order theory over the whole depth. Limited experimental data for changes in wave celerity in closed wave flumes are compared with the theoretical predictions.
Due to tidal force, it is very difficult to estimate the hydraulic parameters of high permeable aquifer near coastal area in Jeju Island. Therefore, to eliminate the impact of tidal force from groundwater level and estimate the hydraulic properties, tidal response technique has been mainly studied. In this study we have extracted 38 tidal constituents from groundwater level and harmonic constants including frequency, amplitude, and phase of each constituent using T_TIDE subroutine which is used to estimate oceanic tidal constituents, and then we have estimated hydraulic diffusivity associated with amplitude attenuation factor(that is the ratio of groundwater level amplitude to sea level amplitude for each tidal constituent) and phase lag(that is phase difference between groundwater level and sea level for each constituent). Also using harmonic constants for each constituent, we made the sinusoidal wave and then we constructed the synthesized wave which linearly combined sinusoidal wave. Finally, we could get residuals(net groundwater level) which was excluded most of tidal influences by eliminating synthesized wave from raw groundwater level. As a result of comparing statistics for synthesized level and net groundwater level, we found that the statistics for net groundwater level was more insignificant than those of synthesized wave. Moreover, in case of coastal aquifer which the impact of tidal force is even more than those of other environmental factors such as rainfall and groundwater yield, it is possible to predict groundwater level using synthesized wave and regression analysis of residuals.

Cardiac arrhythmias are common heart diseases and generally cause sudden cardiac death. Electrocardiogram (ECG) is an effective tool that can reveal the electrical activity of the heart and diagnose cardiac arrhythmias. We propose detection of P waves based on QRST cancellation zero-one substitution. After preprocessing, the QRST segment is determined by detecting the Q wave start point and T wave end point separately. The Q wave start point is detected by digital analyses of the QRS complex width, and the T wave end point is detected by computation of an indicator related to the area covered by the T wave curve. Then, we determine whether the sampled value of the signal is in the interval of the QRST segment and substitute zero or one for the value to cancel the QRST segment. Finally, the maximum amplitude is selected as the peak of the P wave in each RR interval of the residual signal. The average detection rate for the QT database was 97.67%.
In this study, to investigate and to predict the crack growth behavior under variable amplitude loading, crack growth tests are conducted on 7075-T6 aluminum alloy. The loading wave forms are generated by normal random number generator. All wave forms have same average and RMS(root mean square) value, but different standard deviation, which is to vary the maximum load in each wave. The modified Forman's equation is used as crack growth equation. Using the retardation coefficient D defined in previous study, the load interaction effect is considered. The variability in crack growth process is described by the random variable Z which was obtained from crack growth tests under constant amplitude loading in previous work. From these, a statistical model is developed. The curves predicted by the proposed model well describe the crack growth behavior under variable amplitude loading and agree with experimental data. In addition, this model well predicts the variability in crack growth process under variable amplitude loading.
Nonlinear parabolized stability equations for compressible flow in general curvilinear coordinate system are derived to deal with a broad range of transition prediction problems on complex geometry. A highly accurate finite difference PSE code has been developed using an implicit marching procedure. Blasius flow is tested. The results of the present computation show good agreement with DNS data. Nonlinear interaction can make the T-S fundamental wave more unstable and the onset of its amplitude decay is shifted downstream relative to linear case. For nonlinear calculations, rather small difference in initial amplitude can produce large change during nonlinear region. Compressible secondary instability at Mach number 1.6 is also simulated and showed that 1.1% initial amplitude for primary mode is enough to trigger the secondary growth.
Thermal convection between two horizontal walls kept at small amplitude nonuniform temperatures of the form, $T_L=T_1+a{\Delta}T$ sin kx and $T_U=T_2+b{\Delta}T\;sin(kx-{\beta})$ with a, $b{\ll}1$, is numerically investigated. When the Rayleigh number is small, an upright cell is formed between two walls at ${\beta}=0$; the cell is tilted at ${\beta}={\pi}/2$, and a flow with two-tier-structure cells occurs at ${\beta}={\pi}$. As the Rayleigh number is increased, Nusselt number increases smoothly for ${\beta}=0\;and\;{\pi}/2$, but increases rather steeply for ${\beta}={\pi}$ near the critical Rayleigh number ($Ra_c=1708$). When the wave number is small (k=0.5), multicellular convection occurs over one wave length, for all phase differences, and multiple solutions are found.
Experimental results are given for the vertical motion of water in the water chambers for wave energy converter aligned along the wave propagation direction in order to avoid the impulsive wave forces. This paper mainly focuses on the property of the amplitude of the vertical motion of the water surface in the chambers. The amplification has been investigated by dimensionless parameters of wave period to resonance period ratio of the U-shaped oscillation, $T/T_r$, chamber size to wave length ratio, l/L, water depth to wave length ratio, h/L, amplitude of up-down motion of water particles to draft of the front wall ratio, ${\zeta}/D$. It has been shown that l/L should be less than 0.1 and as $T/T_r$ approaches unity the up-down of the water in the chambers is amplified. Also, the structure of the walls which form th water chambers has been examined roughly. It is deduced that the chambers set on both sides of the hull of a single-point moored floating vessel is preferable to those set along a fixed structure such as breakwaters.
Objectives : The purpose of this study is to find the effects of Sa-Am stomach tonifying acupuncture on radial pulse through the parameters difference. Methods : Forty healthy subjects participated in this study, acupuncture group and control group were divided. Radial pulse were measured using 3 dimensional pulse imaging system(DMP-3000). 19 parameters that significantly changed were selected after comparing between acupuncture group and control group. Then, 19 parameters were analyzed before, immediately after, 30 minutes after and 60 minutes after acupuncture in acupucture group. Results : 1. Heart rate, pulse period, T/T1, T2/T, T4/T, T5/T, T-T4, (T-T4)/T and T4/(T-T4) significantly changed after acupuncture. 2. H1 Amplitude, H2 Amplitude, H4 Amplitude and H5 Amplitude significantly changed after acupuncture. 3. Area of Pulse Wave, Systolic Pulse Area, Diastolic Pulse Area and Area of W significantly changed after acupuncture. 4. AIx/HR significantly changed after acupuncture. Conclusion : Stomach Tonifying Acupuncture exerts an influence on radial pulse parameters. Further radial pulse change study on various acupuncture treatment is required.
Experimental obstruction of urethra was induced for 66 hours on 5 male dogs to determine the diagnostic value of ECG and blood chemical values. The results obtained in the examination were summarized as follows ; 1. Changes of ECG, blood chemical values and clinical sings were observed from 30 hours after urethral obstruction. 2. In ECG, the peaked and amplitude of T wave were increased remarkably. p wave were decreased, and intervals of PR(Q) and QRS complex were prolonged after urethral obstruction. 3. The levels of BUN, potassium, creatinine in serum after urethral obstruction were increased remarkably and correlation between these levels and the increase of amplitude in T wave were recognized to be significant.
