To reduce the redundancy within samples that resulted from uniform sampling method, nonuniform sampling or nonredundant-sample coding methods can be considered. But it is well-known that when conventional nonuniform sampling methods are applied directly to speech signal, the amount of data required is comparable to or more than that required by uniform sampling method like PCM. To overcome this problem, we consider properties of speech signal in the sense of perception, and suggest a nonuniform sampling method at the maxima and minima of speech wave. To analyze the performance of the suggested method, compression ratio is considered. We show that compression ratio can be improved by silence detection, which can't be implemented by conventional methods based on uniform sampling. As experimental results, compression ratios of 1.54 without silence detection and 2.88 with silence detection for 8kHz 8-bit PCM signals are obtained.
This paper presents an approach to detect premature ventricular contraction(PVC) using discrete wavelet transform and fuzzy neural network. As the input of the algorithm, we use 14 coefficients of d3, d4, and d5, which are transformed by a discrete wavelet transform(DWT). This paper uses a neural network with weighted fuzzy membership functions(NEWFM) to diagnose PVC. The NEWFM discussed in this paper classifies a normal beat and a PVC beat. The size of the window of DWT is $-31/360{\sim}+32/360$ second(64 samples) whose center is the R wave. Using the seven records of the MIT-BIH arrhythmia database used in Shyu's paper, the classification performance of the proposed algorithm is 99.91%, which outperforms the 97.04% of Shyu's analysis. Using the forty records of the M1T-BIH arrhythmia database used in Inan's paper, the classification performance of the proposed algorithm is 98.01%, which outperforms 96.85% of Inan's one. The SE and SP of the proposed algorithm are 84.67% and 99.39%, which outperforms the 82.57% and 98.33%, respectively, of Inan's study.
Currently many vessels determine an overhead obstruction by a rule of thumb based on their draft for maritime navigation. Therefore they doesn't have a good overhead obstruction clearance because vertical position of vessels varies on time by tidal. As a result, it is occurred maritime accidents that the mainmast of vessels is bumped against overhead facilities. And disaster by global warming and rising sea levels have increased casualties. So we feel keenly the necessity of warning system for not an earthquake but disaster wave such a tsunami. This paper analyzes a precise GPS ephemeris for maritime precise positioning to solve these problems. The precise GPS ephemeris provided by International GNSS service gives a difficulty to real-time application because of its sample interval. This paper proposes an effective interpolation method for real-time application, and it analyzes an accuracy of precise GPS ephemeris through an interpolation method.

To diagnose a patient's blood vessel disease, apoplexy, hypertension, arteriosclerosis, the blood velocity is very important. Determining the blood velocity methods using ultrasound are Continuous Doppler System and Pulse Doppler System. In using the Pulse Doppler System, we can obtain the position of blood velocity. But it is more complex hardware than Continuous Doppler System and it has low SNR(signal-noise ratio). So in this study, to obtain a believable information we use the Continuous Pulse Doppler System. Thus system have analog part and digital part. In analog part is composed of ultrasound generating part, the amplifying part to amplify the received signal from ultrasound sensor, the demodulation part to detect blood velocity and the filtering part to remove the noise. In digital part is composed of the A/D conversion part, digital signal processing part, and the communication part to communicate the PC. In this study to implement efficient ultrasound blood velocity measurement system, we can get the patient's blood velocity information in realtime. Thus, It is a useful in the accurate diagnosis with C.T(computered tomography), M.R.I(magnetic resonance imaging).

The electrical current generated by heart creates not only electric potential but also a magnetic field. We have observed electrophysiological phenomena of the heart by measuring components of magnetocardiogram(MCG) using 61 channel superconducting quantum interference device(SQUD) system. We have analyzed the possibility and characteristics of MCG parameters for diagnosis of ischemic heart disease. A technique for automatic analysis of MCG signals in time domain was developed. The methods for detecting the position, the interval, the amplitude ratio, and the direction of single current dipole were examined in the MCG wave. The position and interval parameters were obtained by calculating the gradients of a envelope curve which could be formed by the difference between the maximum and minimum envelope of multi-channel MCG signals. We show some differences of the frequency contour map between the normal MCG and the abnormal (ischemic heart disease) MCG. The direction of single current dipole can be defined by rotating the magnetic field according to Biot-Savart's law at each point of MCG signals. In this study, we have examined the direction of single current dipole from searching for the centroids of positive and negative magnetic fields. The amplitude ratio parameters for measuring 57 deviation consisted of A$_{T}$/A$_{R}$ and other ratios. and We developed a new analysis method, which is based on the frequency contour map of electromagnetic field. Using theses parameters, we founded significant differences between normal subjects and ischemic patients in some parameters.

A fluxgate magnetic sensor consists of a solenoid excitation coil, pick-up coil, and magnetic core. We presents the effect of magnetic core shape in a micromachined fluxgate sensor. To observe the performance of fluxgate sensor with magnetic core side width and gap, side width of 125 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, 250 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and 500 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were designed in a rectangular-ring shaped core and the gaps of 0 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, 50 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and 100 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ were also fabricated in a racetrack shaped core. The solenoid coils and magnetic core were separated by benzocyclobutane(BCB) which had high insulation and good planarization characters. Copper coil patterns of 10 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ width and 6${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thickness were electroplated on Ti(300 $\AA$) / Cu(1500 $\AA$) seed layers. 3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ thick N $i_{0.8}$F $e_{0.2.}$(permalloy) film for the magnetic core was also electroplated under 2000 gauss to induce the magnetic anisotropy. The magnetic core had the high DC effective permeability of ∼1,300 and coercive field of ∼0.1 Oe. Because the magnetic cores of 500 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ side width and 0 gap had a low magnetic flux leakage, high sensitivity of ∼350 V/T were measured at excitation condition of 3 $V_{P-P}$ and 2 MHz square wave. The power consumption of ∼14 ㎽ was measured. The fabricated fluxgate sensor had the very small actual size of 3.0${\times}$1.7 $\textrm{mm}^2$. When two fluxgates were perpendicularly aligned in terrestrial field, their two-axis output signals were very useful to commercialize an electronic azimuth compass for the portable navigation system.m.m.m.

The current paper focuses on the analysis of transient cavitating flow in pressurised polyethylene pipes, which are characterized by viscoelastic rheological behaviour. A hydraulic transient solver that describes fluid transients in plastic pipes has been developed. This solver incorporates the description of dynamic effects related to the energy dissipation (unsteady friction), the rheological mechanical behaviour of the viscoelastic pipe and the cavitating pipe flow. The Discrete Vapour Cavity Model (DVCM) and the Discrete Gas Cavity Model (DGCM) have been used to describe transient cavitating flow. Such models assume that discrete air cavities are formed in fixed sections of the pipeline and consider a constant wave speed in pipe reaches between these cavities. The cavity dimension (and pressure) is allowed to grow and collapse according to the mass conservation principle. An extensive experimental programme has been carried out in an experimental set-up composed of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes, assembled at Instituto Superior T$\acute{e}$cnico of Lisbon, Portugal. The experimental facility is composed of a single pipeline with a total length of 203 m and inner diameter of 44 mm. The creep function of HDPE pipes was determined by using an inverse model based on transient pressure data collected during experimental runs without cavitating flow. Transient tests were carried out by the fast closure of the ball valves located at downstream end of the pipeline for the non-cavitating flow and at upstream for the cavitating flow. Once the rheological behaviour of HDPE pipes were known, computational simulations have been run in order to describe the hydraulic behaviour of the system for the cavitating pipe flow. The calibrated transient solver is capable of accurately describing the attenuation, dispersion and shape of observed transient pressures. The effects related to the viscoelasticity of HDPE pipes and to the occurrence of vapour pressures during the transient event are discussed.

Laboratory experiments were conducted for tsunami inundation to an urban area with large building roughness. The waterfront portion of the city of Seaside which is located on the US Pacific Northwest coast, was replicated in 1/50 scale in the wave basin. Tsunami heights and velocities on the inundated land were measured at approximately 31 locations for one incident tsunami heights with an inundation height of approximately 10 m (prototype) near the shoreline. The inundation pattern and speed were more severe and faster in some areas due to the arrangement of the large buildings. Momentum fluxes along the roads were estimated using measure tsunami inundation heights and horizontal fluid velocities. As expected, the maximum momentum flux was near the shoreline and decreased landward. Inundation heights and momentum flux were slowly decreased through the road with buildings on each side. The results from this study showed that the horizontal inundation velocity is an important factor for the external force of coastal structures.
This work examines the characterization and corrosion behaviour of laser alloyed UNSG10150 steel with three different premixed composition Zn-Sn binary powders using a 4.4 kW continuous wave (CW) Rofin Sinar Nd:YAG laser processing system. The steel alloyed samples were cut to corrosion coupons, immersed in sulphuric acid (0.5 M H2SO4) solution at 30℃ using electrochemical technique and investigated for its corrosion behaviour. The morphologies and microstructures of the developed coated and uncoated samples were characterized by Optic Nikon Optical microscope (OPM) and scanning electron microscope (SEM/EDS). Moreover, X-ray diffractometer (XRD) was used to identify the phases present. An enhancement of 2.7-times the hardness of the steel substrate was achieved in sample A1 which may be attributed to the fine microstructure, dislocations and the high degree of saturation of solid solution brought by the high scanning speed. At scanning speed of 0.8 m/min, sample A1 exhibited the highest polarization resistance Rp (1081678 Ωcm2 ), lowest corrosion current density icorr (4.81×10−8A/cm2 ), and lowest corrosion rate Cr (0.0005 mm/year) in 0.5 M H2SO4. The polarization resistance Rp (1081678 Ωcm2 ) is 67,813-times the polarization of the UNSG10150 substrate and 99.9972% reduction in the corrosion rate.

Although the previous information technologies had been used for the quick and accurate processing of work, At present, however, as the combination with the Internet, the IOT(Internet-of-Things) era in which the diverse pieces of information are collected and handled through the sensor networks is in progress. Among these application fields of the IoT, the indoors position identification technology has been developing in the direction of providing the position information in the buildings of which the lengths and the interiors are complicated and in the direction of providing the various pieces of information and others of the like to the nearby customers. In this paper, we proposed an indoors position identification system that detects the patrol positions of the prison officers in the correctional facilities and in the prisons by using the ultrasonic waves, that transmits these to the control system and the data gateway, and that transmits the detected data. The Indoors Positioning identification System is organized with the tags for recognizing the positions that transmit the ultrasonic signal, ultrasonic receiver and data gateway. And the indoors position information data were transmitted to the management system through the data gateway. We evaluated the transmission error, by changing the distance of the proposed system for location recognition tag and the receiver, As a result, we found out that, when the transmission distance was 10 cm or less, the errors occurred in the form of the distortions. And when it was 110 cm or more, the transmission errors occurred due to the propagation diminutions of the ultrasonic wave signals. And when the transmission distance was from 10 cm to 100 cm, it was shown that the proposed system was possible without any errors.
