  • Modern Radars are evolving into MFRs which can search multiple targets simultaneously and then track them. Additionally they should be able to avoid some external jamming signals. Applying to these MFRs, Antennas should be able to perform DBF including to not only real-time beam steering but also multi-beam forming simultaneously. And they can cancel the beam at the specific direction. In this paper, we describe the implementation of sub-array type antenna hardware which can be applying DBF. Also we propose the modified amplitude aperture distribution for suppressing the side lobe level and explain the sub-array receiver design with amplitude tapering. It consists in making the amplitude weighting in 2 steps. In order to compare two weighting cases, we investigate the G/T performance for the array antenna. At the conclusion, we make a comparative study for the dynamic range of every sub-array receiver and present the hardware implementation that is more advantageous for sub-array alignment and calibration in DBF.

  • The proton therapy of radiation therapy methods using Bragg Peak which is proton beam's characteristic dose distribution can give a normal tissue lower dose than cancer, comparing with the former existing radiation therapy methods. For exact treatment and patient' safety, we need to know proton beam's position in body, but a proton beam completely stops at treatment region and proton beam's range is uncertainly made by the variety of organs having each different density, so we aren't able to find a proton beam' position by suitable methods yet. With Monte Carlo Computing Method, as a result that we had simulated prompt gamma detection system using correlation of proton beam's absorbed dose distribution about water and prompt gamma distribution by nuclear interaction occurred by collisions of proton and water's hydrogen atoms, we could confirm that a proton beam's position was able to detect by using simulated prompt gamma detection system in body on the real-time

  • We propose a transmit beamforming algerian for array antenna in FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) environments. The proposed method estimates the directions and spectra of the users, and constructs the spatial covariance matrix of the interferences at the downlink frequency. The weights are computed by that covariance matrix and desired user's direction vector Simulations are performed under Rayleigh fading environments. The proposed method don't need the data feedback, has the enhanced performance in BER (Bit Error Rate).

  • This paper designs and presents the results of an air network simulation radio transmission link applied with a multi-beam active phase array antenna simulator in a testbed system for verifying an air network currently underway as a technology development task. Using the Ku band, the Radio transmission link was designed in consideration of the link budget to satisfy the requirements for the system being developed. Considering short-distance links and long-distance links, the required EIRP and G/T performance scales of multi-beam repeaters and mission planes were applied to confirm the minimum and maximum link margins based on Eb/No. In this Radio Transmission Link design, the application analysis results such as rainfall availability are used to effectively establish standards when selecting the operating radius of the multi-beam relay system and related system standards.

  • This paper presents a design, fabrication and the test results of planar active electronically scanned array(AESA) radar prototype for airborne fighter applications using transmit/receive(T/R) module hybrid technology. LIG Nex1 developed a AESA radar prototype to obtain key technologies for airborne fighter's radar. The AESA radar prototype consists of a radiating array, T/R modules, a RF manifold, distributed power supplies, beam controllers, compact receivers with ADC(Analog-to-Digital Converter), a liquid-cooling unit, and an appropriate structure. The AESA antenna has a 590 mm-diameter, active-element area capable of containing 536 T/R modules. Each module is located to provide a triangle grid with $14.7\;mm{\times}19.5\;mm$ spacing among T/R modules. The array dissipates 1,554 watts, with a DC input of 2,310 watts when operated at the maximum transmit duty factor. The AESA radar prototype was tested on near-field chamber and the results become equal in expected beam pattern, providing the accurate and flexible control of antenna beam steering and beam shaping.

  • For the purpose of introducing hydrophilic function to pristine PVDF, pristine PVDF was modified under atmosphere and aqueous vapor by irradiating electron beam (EB). EB dose was varied from 0 to 125 K Gray, respectively. Their changes of chemical composition /structure were observed and evaluated by FT-IR, EDS and DSC. Also, their surface behaviors were evaluated by contact angle. In FT-IR study, it was confirmed that hydroxyl functions were introduced to pristine PVDF. In EDS analysis, mole ratio of F (fluoride) was almost constant (about 33%) in spite of increasing EB dose, meaning that hydroxyl function was introduced via dehydrozenation, not via deflurodination. In DSC study, $T_g$ increased with increasing EB dose, which was reconfirmed that hydroxyl function was introduced via dehydrozenation. $T_m$ increased with increasing EB dose, inferring that the increase in EB dose led to more outbreak of hydroxyl function which led to more enhanced hydrogen bond. In the result of contact angle, pristine PVDF film was $62^{\circ}$ and 125 K Gray-irradiated PVDF film was even $13^{\circ}$. All results showed that pristine PVDF was successfully changed to hydrophilic PVDF.

  • In this paper, we apply the input-output linearization technique to tracking the follow-up trajectory r(t) in the ball-beam system. There exist system disturbance and various uncertainties, the conventional input-output linearization based control yields some noticeable errors in tracking performance. As a result, a new robust control technique for the uncertainty of the system was proposed and its improved performance verified through simulation and experimental results. So, more realistic system model is obtained with unmatched uncertainties and disturbance. Then, in order to improve the control performance, a new optimal bang-bang control input is additionally added.

  • Purpose: This study relates to the development of dot-sight device, whose length is reduced, with a prism beam splitter. Methods: We developed a new dot-sight device whose length was reduced by eliminating the optical axis tilt of the doublet reflector to reduce the occurrence of the parallax and by redesigning the doublet reflector to use a prism beam splitter. Results: We could develop the new type dot-sight device having a prism beam splitter and the dot reticle generator and the doublet reflector, of which optical axises showed a T-letter type with the optical axis of the observer's eye. Conclusions: In this study, we designed and developed a new type dot sight employing a prism beam splitter that could be able to further enhance the accuracy of the fire in comparison with the traditional dot sight, thereby reducing the overall optical length of system. The new designed dot sight was able to be reduced 2.2 times on the overall optical length, and could be improved more than three times on the accuracy of shooting in the horizontal direction, than the traditional dot sight.

  • AT-DMB system has been developed to increase data rate up to double of conventional T-DMB in the same bandwidth while maintaining backward compatibility. The AT-DMB system adopted hierarchical modulation which adds BPSK or QPSK signal as enhancement layer to existing DQPSK signal. The enhancement layer signal should be small enough to maintain backward compatibility and to minimize the coverage loss of conventional T-DMB service coverage. But this causes the enhancement layer signal of AT-DMB susceptible to fading effect in transmission channel. A turbo code which has improved error correction capability than convolutional code, is applied to the enhancement layer signal of the AT-DMB system for compensating channel distortion. However there is a need for other solutions for better reception of AT-DMB signal in receiver side without increasing transmitting power. In this paper, we propose adaptive array antenna system with Eigen-space beamforming algorithm which benefits beamforming gain along with diversity gain. We analyzed the reception performances of AT-DMB system in indoor and mobile environments when this new smart antenna system and algorithm is introduced. The computer simulation results are presented along with analysis comments.
