  • As the power grids are integrated into one big umbrella called a "smart grid," communication protocol plays a key role in successful operations. The successful deployment of smart grid interoperability is a major hurdle that must be overcome. The micro grid, a small power system that distributes energy resource, is operated in diverse regions. Different vendors use different communication protocols in the operation of the micro grid. Recently, the IEC 61850 has been legislated to solve the interoperability problems in power utility automation. The present paper presents a micro grid system based on the IEC 61850 protocol. It consists of a micro grid monitoring system, a protocol converter that transforms serial data to IEC 61850 data, and distributed energy resource controllers for diverse DER nodes. A developed communication gateway can be deployed for DER controllers with serial links to exchange data with IEC 61850-based devices. The gateway can be extended to IEC 61850-based distribution automation systems, substation automation systems, or SCADA.

  • The construction of medium-and large-sized microgrid systems by unit area, which is being promoted worldwide, is being developed and expanded in the form of efficient operation of electric grids and independent operation in preparation for power emergencies. Therefore, for the development of the domestic electricity industry, it is urgent to analyze the current status and technology of relevant international standardization, and to make international standardization of domestic standard (draft) on the matters that need to be enacted and newly established. Campus microgrid implements smart grid element technologies such as Integrated Energy Management System(EMS), Distributed Power(DG), Energy Storage System(ESS), Demand Response(DR), and Electric Vehicle(EV) in a university campus. As a system that reduces energy use and improves energy use efficiency and energy independence, standardization is established to secure interoperability and reliability of such systems.

  • In terms of B2B, business partners require works that define their ability to operate business collaboration. The document outlining collaboration is the basis of improving the system of business partner and its interoperability. In addition, the definition of business interaction that is bastd on the documents demonstrating inter-cooperation of business companies is needed to function interoperability properly, and business trading is performed depending on the documents that define reciprocal action of collaboration. In ebXML, CPP(Collaboration-Protocol Profile) defines one business parter's technical capabilities to engage in electronic business collaborations with other partners by exchanging electronic messages. A CPA(Collaboration-Protocol Agreement) documents the technical agreement between two partners to engage in electronic business collaboration. In this paper, 1 draw up a plan for a system that deals with business collaboration document to ameliorate the interoperability of B2B companies.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study a scheme to ITS service which enables the data (spatial, non-spatial and image) sharing among heterogeneous system (various environment) with employing the concept of object orientedness and to show Location Reference Technique of ITS Space DB for interoperability. Data warehouse service, query object service, interface object service, and naming object service have been identified for this. In addition, a metadata management object service and persistent object service based system framework has been devised. The proposed skeletal framework would be expected to be functioning well for ITS data sharing environment and for the interoperability support.

  • ebXML(Electronic Business using extensible Markup Language) is an XML based new international standard framework of the electronic business. Interoperability among mutually different industry fields can be realized by reusing core component, as a infrastructure of data. For this interoperability, it is needed to define the concrete concept of core component, through analyzing the role and applicability of the core component in business process which defines the interoperability among different companies. Therefore, in this paper, we Inquire the role of the core component in the ebXML, and implement the core component storage system which generates core component to register in registry/repository. The designed system for storing the core component generates suitable core component structure to register in registry/repositor), which can be used to generate new business information entity in a modeling step of business process.

  • This paper studied about the design and implementation of tactical communication network simulator in order to obtain tactical communication network parameter, such as link capacity and routing plan, and a number of exceptional cases that may occur during actual deployment by conducting simulation of a large-scale tactical communication networks. This tactical communication network simulator provides equipment models and link models of commercial OPNET simulator for tactical communication network. In addition, 6 types of simulation scenario writings convenience functions and traffic generation models that may occur in situations of tactical communication network environment were implemented in order to enhance user friendliness. By taking advantages of SITL(System-In-The-Loop) function of OPNET, the tactical communication network simulator allows users to perform interoperability test between M&S models and actual equipment in operating simulation of tactical communication network, which is run on software. In order to confirm the functions and performance of the simulator, small-scale of tactical communication network was configured to make sure interoperability between SITL-based equipment and a large-scale tactical communication network was simulated and checked how to cope with traffic generated for each network node. As the results, we were able to confirm that the simulator is operated properly.

  • Due to the rapid popularization of mobile multimedia devices and the Internet as well as the realization of high-speed data transmission and large-volume data recording media, high quality content distribution and ubiquitous information services are making progress and a new type of information distribution and network sharing service has gradually emerged into the market. It is capable of utilizing terabyte sized home servers also in private homes. Under these circumstances, in distribution of content over shared networks, it is crucial to establish DRM (Digital Rights Management) technologies to protect the content from illegal copying and usage. A truly successful DRM system must be built on open worldwide specifications and provide maximum interoperability and user acceptance. An open interoperability of DRM is able to construct highly expandable PKI based DRM, targeting usage between systems, considering the expansion of recent content distribution services and clients This document gives protocol specifications for the exchange of rights information between the DRM module, description of specifications for rights information and encrypted content formats.

  • Bluetooth Video Distribution Profile (VDP) defines the protocol and procedures that realize the distribution of video content compressed in a specific format for the efficient use of the limited bandwidth. In this paper, we describe the design of VDP tester based on TTCN-2 (Tree and Tabular Combined Notation), a language standardized by ISO for the specification of tests for real-time and communicating systems. Our work was carried out as a part of supporting a new profile testing module for VDP in PTS (Profile Tuning Suite), a reference test system for Bluetooth interoperability testing. Test demonstration for the interoperability with various VDP solutions at the PTS session in UPF30 (Unplug Fest) showed the validity of the developed tester. Eventually, we introduce the PTS architecture, and show the design and implementation of VDP tester included in the released PTS 3.0 in this paper.

  • In this paper, we discuss the current status of ROK-US wargame model interoperability and propose the future federation architecture. ROK and US Armed Forces have made an effort to make their wargame model interoperable to fulfill operational requirements since 1999. Currently, they have achieved some degree of their final goals even though there is long way to go. ROK Armed Forces is now considering future federation architecture. We propose the future federation architecture of ROK-US wargame model interoperability considering technical advantages and system availability. It will be the next federation architecture led by ROK side for the ROK Armed Forces joint exercise and ROK-US combined exercise.

  • Accuracy of mappings is the key for achieving true interoperability among different healthcare systems. The initial step towards interoperable healthcare systems is compliancy with healthcare standards (HL7, openEHR, CEN 13606). Ontologies for these standards are developed that require ontology matching to generate generalized ontology mappings. Organizations conform to specific concepts of different standards based on their requirements. This step is called as conformance claims and is based on Personalized-Detailed Clinical Model. It invalidates some of the generalized mappings because of non-conformed concepts and leads to the necessity of the proposed technique of customized ontology mappings. These customized ontology mappings compliment the generalized ontology mapping to increase the level of accuracy of mappings and thus achieving data interoperability. The proposed system ensures quality of care to patients by timely delivery of healthcare information.
