This paper describes a wearable multi-modal user interface design and its implementation for a teleoperated field robot system. Recently some teleoperated field robots are employed for hazard environment applications (e.g. rescue, explosive ordnance disposal, security). To complete these missions in outdoor environment, the robot system must have appropriate functions, accuracy and reliability. However, the more functions it has, the more difficulties occur in operation of the functions. To cope up with this problem, an effective user interface should be developed. Furthermore, the user interface is needed to be wearable for portability and prompt action. This research starts at the question: how to teleoperate the complicated slave robot easily. The main challenge is to make a simple and intuitive user interface with a wearable shape and size. This research provides multi-modalities such as visual, auditory and haptic sense. It enables an operator to control every functions of a field robot more intuitively. As a result, an EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) demonstration is conducted to verify the validity of the proposed wearable multi-modal user interface.
In this paper, we defined agent interface standard and messages for the control and management of agent. Agent interface is defined by messages exchanged between each component of the agent system environment, such as agent, agent system that creates and controls the agent, client that requests the service, agent master that mediates the service, agent manager that performs management functions of the agent. Agent interface is defined after the MAF of the OMG and the agent standard of the FIPA. Experiments are done for the application using agent interface and messages of this paper. The test network was the content distribution network using agent service, and we controled and managed the test network through the agent interface.
The robot system which can handle a stream of randomly positioned parts on a conveyor belt system, is developed. It is composed of a PUMA 560 robot, a conveyor belt system and a vision system. The performance of the overall system is mainly dependent upon the robot and vision system interface technique. A vision algorithm is developed to determine the position, orientation and type of the part. Calibration procedure and the vision-to-robot transformation are also proposed. Experimental results are then presented and discussed.

An alarm gathering interface equipment has been developed to collect the hardware failure activities in 1$1, 024\times1, 024$ ATM switching system. The equipment use 8-bit microprocessor and ELA-232C port, and is fabricated in a single board, which called Alarm Gathering Interface board Assembly(AGIA). It is programmed to ensure flexibility in modification and expansion of the system capability. The performance is successfully proved through communication test with hardware blocks or modules consisting a ATM switching system, these techniques can be used to develop operation and maintenance functions for more superior ATM switching system in the near future. we additionally have presented some items for further study on alarm subsystem often ATM switching system.

PCB design technology for high-speed transmission line has been developed continuously. Adapting to the high capacity of the communication system, switch fabric interface used for backplane is being standardized to accommodate more than 10Gbps serial interface. In this paper, various computer simulations are performed to compare the performance of each transmission line per length according to PCB material, and also to analyze the effect from via stub length and crosstalk, for the purpose of applying 11.5Gbps serial interface as a switch fabric interface in tera-bit switching system. As a result of the simulation, important design issues, such as PCB material of each board supporting 8dB improvement in transmission loss using low loss PCB, maximum available stub length on transmission line via, whether or not to apply the backdrill process to the via, and the clearance of the differential pair between transmission lines, are determined. The most efficient system architecture which could be applied 11.5Gbps serial interface in all switch fabric interfaces is defined from the simulation results.

In this paper, the enhanced ATA(AT Attachment Interface with Extension) interface that combines the price of ATA and intelligent operation of SCSI(Small Computer System Interface) is realized both performance and structure of general interface used to connect peripheral devices that are used in PC(Personal Computer). SCSI bus is for peripheral devices that have intelligent operation. It is excellent bus that has well-arranged command system and stable hardware structure. But is aspect of price this peripheral device has the difficulty in purchase because there is price difference more than two times compared with ATA peripheral device. Whereas, although ATA peripheral device had low performance in the early period, after the improvement its speed has almost etched to SCSI and its price is also excellent. In this paper, the enhanced interface structure to fulfill price and performance was suggested and materialized as the hardware using such two advantages.

Recently, In order to provide ubiquitous service, we develop each middleware and interface for sensors networks, RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) and GPS(Global Positioning System). We use GPS for the location-based services, RFID for identifying the distribution logistics services, sensor networks for collecting the context data such as temperature, humidity, barometric pressure. Recently, there is increasing the need of integrated interface for using these sensor elements complexly in agriculture and livestock, construction, medical applications and, etc. This paper developments a integrated common interface for supporting efficiently process of sensing data using RFID, GPS and sensor network. This interface have the filtering function, parsing function, queuing function, interface management function, access function and, etc. We present the integrated frame structure combined with the collected context data in GPS, RFID and sensor networks and, support the open interface for providing complex ubiquitous application systems. Therefore, this interface will be efficiently used the system using RFID, GPS and sensor network, and supported many ubiquitous application services.

In this paper, we propose the standard architecture for the IFF interface SW in naval combat management system(CMS). The proposed standard interface architecture is a method designed to reduce modification efforts and man-month of reliability test for the existing the IFF interface SW of 11 types. We identified highly dependent CMS and GFE information, leading to the redefinition of standard requirements and functions, and proceeded with the initial design applying the Naval Shield Component Platform(NSCP). Subsequently, using the Feature Model, we derived additional common and variable elements for the interface of multiple CMS and GFE. Considering the S.O.L.I.D principles, we designed the final architecture. The proposed IFF Interface SW, based on the standard architecture, is expected to enhance management efficiency through a common architecture, increase code reusability and scalability, and reduce development costs by shortening reliability testing times.
This paper introduces a difference between mobile Augmented Reality (AR) authoring and desktop AR authoring, and suggests an interface system that can be applied to in-situ authoring of AR contents on a mobile device. The mobile devices have enabled users to use the AR system anytime and anywhere. It is now necessary to create user's individualized context information using mobile devices on the spot. To author AR contents easily with mobile devices, we need to maximize the convenience of mobile systems, which have yet limitation. To do so, this paper suggests new interaction approaches that manage augmented contents using visual cues and other simple attribute settings. In addition, to solve the problem that users have to hold their mobile devices to track markers while authoring contents, this system enables users to author contents in environment based on captured images. This interface system also can make cooperation environment for more than one users to author contents. This paper verifies the usefulness of the proposed interface by user tests. The results of an analyzing users' comments show that the proposed interface is suitable for in-situ mobile authoring system.
Various technical and societal approaches are being made to realize the auto driving (AD) and cooperative driving (CD) including communication network and extended advanced driver support system is under development. In CD, it is important to share the roles of the driver and the system and to secure the stability of the driving, so a efficient interface scheme between the driver and the vehicle is required. This study proposes a research model including driver, system and driving environment considering the role and function of driver and system in CD. An efficient interface between the driver and the vehicle to cope with various driving situations on the CD using the analysis of the driving environment and the research model is also proposed. Through this study, it is expected that the proposed research model and interface scheme could contribute to CD system design, cockpit module development and interface device development.
