Effects of soft handoff region ratio on the reverse link capacity of a DS-CDMA cellular system (DS-CDMA 셀룰라 시스템의 역방향 링크에서 소프트 핸드오프 영역비율의 효과)

  • In this paper, effects of soft handoff region on the reverse link capacity of a DS-CDMA cellular system are investigated. The reverse link capacity of a CDMA cellular system is calculated at a given soft handoff region ratio (SHRR) and path loss model. The results show that the reverse link capacity increases by 1 ∼ 4 channels according to the soft handoff region ratio and the path loss model. However, in the case of the path loss model having a large attenuation exponent ($\mu$ = 5) and a small shadowing standard deviation ( $\sigma$ = 6 dB), the reverse link capacity is no more increased by increasing SHRR.

  • In this paper, it is assumed that a mobile radio channel is a Rayleigh distributed multipath fading channel and Erlang capacity and equivalent channel numbers are calculated for the reverse link of a imperfect power controlled DS/CDMA cellular system considering both shadowing and multipath fading. The DS/CDMA blocking probability is calculated based on a new analysis method that considers Erlang capacity and ICF(interference correction factor) using the median value of $E_{b(i)}$/ $I_{o}$ corresponding to each reverse link user. It is showed that the effect of multipath fading must not be ignored in Erlang capacity of the IS-95 DS/CDMA cellular system and the Erlang capacity is decreased according to the increase of the deviation of the imperfect power control, to the decrease of the processing gain, to the increase of the voice activity.y.

  • In this paper, the information capacity, the Integrate performance measure of digital radiography system has been quantitatively analyzed. The effect of various factors affecting the information capacity of the digital radiography system in multi-stage detection processes has been considered and analyzed In detail. The results show that the more Information capacity can be obtained with the smaller detector cell area, despite of the decreasing signal to noise ratio due to the reduced number of X-ray photons per detector cell. And also has been Indicated that the Increase of the information capacity may be severely lost by the addition of electric noise in final read-out stage.

  • This paper uses Monte Carlo technique, which is one of probabilistic methods of estimating the economical quantity of electric power generation in consideration of voltage stability in the aspect of power generation companies. In the power exchange system in Korea, when power generation companies participate in tenders for power generation capacity at the power exchange, they need to determine their power supply capacity considering the stability of electric power system. Thus, we purposed to propose an algorithm for estimating economical power generation capacity in theaspect of power generation companies, through which we can estimate the margin for voltage stability through P-V curve analysis by capacity according to the change of power generation capacity in a simulated system and to conduct Monte Carlo simulation in consideration of the margin

  • Interconnection of new energy sources, such as photovoltaic generation, wind power generation, etc., into the electric power distribution system may result in the increasing short-circuit capacity when a short circuit fault occurs. The short-circuit capacity becomes over the interrupting ratings of circuit breakers, and then they fails to operate in the proper way they prevent fault currents from flowing into the distribution facilities and thus causing them serious damages. This study deals with impacts on the respective short-circuit capacity of both low voltage and extra high voltage distribution systems at which new energy sources are installed. In order to obtain more accurate and all-case values very close to reality in the complicated distribution system, computer simulation tools should be required. In this paper, however, its focus is placed on examining the varying trend of short-circuit capacity, which may happen owing to new energy source interconnection, as a previewing step for exhaustive simulation studies.

  • The fuel cell system is environment-friendly and energy efficient system. Especially, the fuel cell cogeneration systems providing heat and electricity to buildings have been developed and applied to a lot of sites in the world to cope with the global warming and $CO_2$ emission problem. This paper presents the result of study on the economic evaluation with super-micro fuel cell (SMFC) cogeneration system by varying the floor area ($132m^2{\sim}331m^2$) of the house, whose system capacity ranges from 0.10 kWe to 0.50 kWe. The electricity demand, heat demand, saved energy cost, and the simple pay-back period have been simulated for the various capacities of fuel cell cogeneration system. As a result, this study suggests the fuel cell system’s capacity decision strategy for a given house area. Contrary to conventional design assumptions, the smaller capacity fuel cell cogeneration system is appropriate for the house of large floor area to defense the progressive electricity tax, and the larger capacity fuel cell cogeneration system is appropriate for the house of small floor area to sell the electricity.

  • This study analyzed the performance of long term operation photovoltaic system The 50 kWp grid connected photovoltaic system which was installed at KEPRI site in 1999 has been operated more than 12 years. In order to acquire long term operation characteristics of medium size photovoltaic system, the operation test data related on power generation electricity and capacity factor of 50 kWp system, which have been collected since 1999, were analysed. From the analysing results, 57.7 MWh in annual power generation electricity of 50 kWp photovoltaic system in 1999 has been decreased 49.1 MWh in 2005 and reached 38.0 MWh in 2010. In addition to, the capacity factor of 50 kWp photovoltaic system also showed 13.2 % in 1999, 11.2% in 2005 and finally reached 8.8% in 2011. The operation test data showed a trend of decreasing of generation electricity and capacity factor during the 12 years operation time and we guessed that was caused by solar cell performance degradation and decreasing of PCS system efficiency.

  • The capacity of a digital cellular CDMA system is evaluated by computer simulation for reverse link (mobile-to-base) with 37 hexagonal cells including 3 rings from a center cell. It is assumed that the channels have shadow fading and the system is ideally power controlled. In this paper the capacity of CBMA system is evaluated for various propagation exponents, voice activity factors and neighboring cell traffics. The following results are obtained. The capacity of CDMA system is increased according to the increase of the propagation exponents and the decrease of the voice activity factors. Its capacity is about 15 and 5 times larger thari that of analog cellular FM/FDMA and digital cellular TDMA for $\gamma=4$ respectively, and is very sensitive to the neighboring cell traffics.

  • In this paper, channel capacity analysis is investigated for design of convergence system of broadcasting and telecommunication. To do this, we derive and analyze channel capacity of the proposed system with dual-branch MRC diversity technique in correlated Hoyt fading channel. Spread spectrum watermarking scheme which is known as a robust promising technique in noisy environment can be applied to transmit additional data sequence. From numerical results, we confirm that the channel capacity of the proposed system can be determined by channel parameters.
