Traditional three-dimensional (3-D) laser imaging systems are based on real aperture imaging technology, whose resolution decreases as the range increases. In this paper, we develop a novel 3-D imaging technique based on the synthetic aperture technology in which the imaging resolution is significantly improved and does not degrade with the increase of the range. We consider an imaging laser radar (ladar) system using the floodlight transmitting mode and multi-beam receiving mode. High 3-D imaging resolutions are achieved by matched filtering the linear frequency modulated (LFM) signals respectively in range, synthetic aperture along-track, and the real aperture across-track. In this paper, a novel 3-D imaging signal model is given first. Because of the motion during the transmission of a sweep, the Doppler shift induced by the continuous motion is taken into account. And then, a proper algorithm for the 3-D imaging geometry is given. Finally, simulation results validate the effectiveness of the proposed technique.
In order to obtain high-resolution seafloor images, research on SA (Synthetic Aperture) processing and the development of related underwater systems have been performed in many countries. Recently the SA processing is also recognized as an important technique in Korea and researchers started related basic study. However, most previous studies ignored the Doppler effect by a moving receiver array. In this paper reconstructed SAS (Synthetic Aperture Sonar) images and position errors are analyzed according to the speed of a moving array for understanding its moving effect on the SAS images. In the analysis the spatial frequency domain interpolation algorithm is used. The results show that as the moving speed of the array increases the estimated position error also increases and image distortion gets worse when we do not consider the array motion. However, if the compensated receiver signals considering the array motion are used the position error and image distortion can be eliminated. In conclusion a signal processing scheme which compensates the Doppler effect is necessary especially in the condition where the array speed is over 1 m/s.
In this Paper, we Propose synthetic aperture technique for twin-line may. Sin91e-line way is required long aperture size in order to achieve high SNR and angular resolution in shallow water Ultra low frequency signal from far-field has left-right ambiguity at sing1e-line array. To resolve these Problems, we'd like to adopt the synthetic aperture technique to twin-line array. The synthetic aperture method adopts coherent processing of sub-aperture signals at successive tine intervals in the beam domain. The proposed method shows low nile error and improved angular resolution. In simulation result, average sidelobe level is reduced about 7〔dB〕when the array Peformed 5-synthesis.

The on-board processor of satellite synthetic aperture radar(SAR) generates transmission signal by digital signal processing, converts it into an analog signal. At this time, the transmission signal generated from the baseband requires the frequency modulation to convert it to the high-frequency band in order to improve the stability. General frequency modulation method using local oscillator(LO) causes IQ imbalance due to phase error/magnitude error and these error reduce performance of SAR. To generate transmission signal without phase/magnitude error, this paper suggests design method of the frequency modulation method using digital to analog converter(DAC) at on-board SAR. For design, this paper analyzes the characteristic of DAC mode and uses pre-compensation filter. To analyze the proposed method performance, performance index are compared with IQ imbalance signals. This method is suitable for on-board SAR using fast sampling DAC and has the advantage of being able to solve IQ imbalances.
The previous synthetic aperture techniques have been investigated to increase signal gain, improve angular resolution and peak-to-sidelobe level ratios for towed line array sonar systems. The synthetic aperture method in this paper is performed for conformal array systems by mapping real elements on an axis to control like a linear array. The proposed method for the conformal array performs coherent processing of subaperture signals at successive time intervals in the beam domain via FFT transformations. This was confirmed by the simulation results and compared to the results from use of the synthetic aperture technique under the conformal array.
Although a single-element synthetic aperture system can produce high-resolution beam profile, it is not a highly practical system because of its low signal to noise ratio against conventional system's. A multi-element synthetic aperture processing has been proposed with defocusing in this paper. A multi element subaperture defocused to emulate a single element spatial response with high acoustic power. The results have higher signal to noise and better contrast resolution than conventional synthetic aperture method.
In this paper, the compressed sensing basic pursuit denoise algorithm adopted to synthetic aperture radar imaging is investigated to improve the object recognition. From the incomplete data sets for image processing, the compressed sensing algorithm had been integrated to recover the data before the conventional back- projection algorithm was involved to obtain the synthetic aperture radar images. This method can lead to the reduction of measurement events while scanning the objects. An ultra-wideband radar scheme using a stripmap synthetic aperture radar algorithm was utilized to detect objects hidden behind the box. The Ultra-Wideband radar system with 3.1~4.8 GHz broadband and UWB antenna were implemented to transmit and receive signal data of two conductive cylinders located inside the paper box. The results confirmed that the images can be reconstructed by using a 30% randomly selected dataset without noticeable distortion compared to the images generated by full data using the conventional back-projection algorithm.
Line may receiver contains an ambiguity on conjugate bearings, because of lacking aperture in transverse direction. To solve the left/right bearing ambiguity of line-array receiver we used line-array with cardioid beam. In addition, the synthetic aperture method adopts coherent processing of sub-aperture signals at successive time intervals in the beam domain. We presented performances about division of left/right bearing ambiguity according to array synthetic number of times in this paper.

In this paper, a modified FSA(Frequency Scaling Algorithm) is proposed for KOMPSAT-5 high-resolution SAR image generation. In order to enhance performance of azimuth compression, degraded in sub-aperture processing due to the imperfect geometric parameter of data acquisition, the full-aperture signal processing algorithm is designed based on the exact time-frequency analysis. In addition, an azimuth scaling function is newly devised to make the full-aperture processing algorithm suitable for KOMPSAT-5 sliding-spotlight mode. Different from the previous sub-aperture FSA schemes, the suggested technique could accommodate the merit of unified signal processing structure regardless of operational modes of KOMPSAT-5. Through the point target simulation, it is verified that the suggested algorithm provides superior performance of azimuth compression over the existing full-aperture processing methods. The experimental results using real data acquired by KOMPSAT-5 are also given to demonstrate the effectiveness of our scheme as well.

Nondestructive method can include both testing itself and analysis or evaluation of the testing results. Although vast amount of testing can be accomplished in a fairly short amount of time due to the advancement of electronic technology. it is really difficult matter to identify whether the indication found during testing corresponds to be a real defect. Thus, in ultrasonic testing, advanced digital signal processing techniques have been widely studied in order to identify the shape of the defect during testing, and one of the signal processing techniques, synthetic aperture focusing technique(SAFT) was tried for holes machined in carbon steel plate in this study. Result showed that signal to noise ratio has been improved considerably compared to the result from original RF signals.
