조선시대 상류주택 사랑대청의 실내입면구성요소에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Wall Components of Sarang-taechong in the Upper Class houses of Chosun Dynasty)

  • The purpose of this study was to clarify the wall components of Sarang-taechong in the upper class houses of Chosun dynasty. Physical trace method was used for this study. The samples were taken from the Sarang-taechong of 6 traditional Korean houses; Yunkyungdang, the ancient Chusa estate, Sunkyojang, Chunghyodang, Yangjindant, Unjorn. The makor findings were summarized as follows; 1) The common components of each wall were pillars, sanginbangs(upper horizontal beams), hainbangs (lower horizontal beams), door and windows. Changbangs(wood eave pieces that suported decoration blocks), changyos(a pice of wood fitted between the tops of pillars and upper tori cross beams), and morums(the top wainscot board laid horizontally between the bottom beam and the bottom portion of a window frame) were additional. 2) The composition of every south wall was symmetrical and the other threes were mixed symmetrical and asymmetrical. 3) The image of wall was classified-fine, strong, and modera e, according to the symmetry or asymmetry of wall composition, the width of each components, the kind of window.

고속$\cdot$대추력 리니어모터의 열특성 최적화 [1] (Optimization of the Thermal Behavior of Linear Motors with High Speed and Force [$1^{st}$Paper])

  • This paper presents the thermal behavior of a synchronous linear motor with high speed and force. Such a linear motor can successfully replace ball lead screw in machine tools because it has a high velocity, acceleration and good positioning accuracy. On the other hand, low efficiency and high heating up during operation are disadvantage of linear motors. For the application of linear motors to machine tools a water-cooling system is often used. In this research, structure of the linear motor and water cooler is changed to improve the thermal behavior of the linear motor. Some important effects of an integrated cooler, an U-cooler and a thermally symmetrical cooler are presented.

  • Despite geometrical balanced runner system, filling imbalances between cavity to cavity have always been observed in multi-cavity injection mold. These filling imbalances are results from non-symmetrical shear rate distribution within melt as it flows through the runner system. It has been possible to decrease filling imbalance by optimizing processing conditions, but it has not completely eliminated this phenomenon during the injection molding processing. This paper presents a solution of these filling imbalances by using runner core pin which creates a symmetrical shear distribution within runner and the effects on filling imbalance when modifying a shape of runner core pin. As a result of using runner core pin, a remarkable improvement in reducing filling imbalance was confirmed. In addition we investigated how filling imbalances were affected by shape of runner core pin.

Conservative neural symmetry of the caprine mandible

  • Fifteen dry dentate and complete mandible samples from the White Rasquera goat breed were studied for symmetry. Thirty-one landmarks were digitally located on the images of the lateral and medial aspects of each hemimandible. Distances between these landmarks allowed the evaluation of the whole hemimandible and also the neural mandible. In the studied samples, the mandible was rather symmetrical, especially in the medial neural part, and in general, there was no side dominance. Only the diastema differed significantly between the sides, and this was related to the rostral part (incisive arch). The incisive region was the least symmetrical region of the caprine mandible, indicating a modular structure more conservative for the neural part. If unsigned asymmetry is interpreted as a measure of developmental stability, then the studied breed presented a marked ability to develop in good fitness despite the harsh environment. The measurements presented here can also be used as a reference for researchers designing experimental studies, especially on mandibular catch-up growth, and as an aid for zooarchaeologists comparing results from dead animals with those from living goat populations.

  • This paper presents a new hybrid control method of asymmetrical/symmetrical half-bridge converter (AHBC/SHBC) with low voltage stress of the diodes. The proposed new control scheme is executed by using feedback of the input voltage and then can decide operation of the converter is divided into two ranges, which are asymmetrical control and symmetrical control, So the proposed control scheme has many advantages such as a low rated voltage of the secondary diodes, and low conduction loss according to the low voltage drop. The proposed control scheme is verified by simulated results.

  • The synthetic short-circuit making test to adequately stress the circuit breaker has been specified as the mandatory test duty in the IEC 62271-100. The purpose of this test is to give the maximum pre-arcing energy during making operation. And this requires the making operation with symmetrical short-circuit current that is established when the breakdown between contact gap occurs near the crest of the applied voltage. Also, if the interrupting chamber of circuit breakers is designed as the type of common enclosure or the operation is made by the gang operated mechanism that three-phase contacts are operated by one common mechanism, three-phase synthetic making test is basically required. Therefore, several testing laboratories have developed and proposed their own test circuits to properly evaluate the breaker performance. With these technical backgrounds, we have developed the new alternative three-phase making circuit.

영국 죠지안 시대의 주택 실내 표현 특징에 관한 연구 (House and Interior Design During the Georgian period in England)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine house and interior design during the Georgian Period in England. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Typical houses during the Georgian Period were generally two types that one was a single detached house in the country and the other was a terrace houses in the city. 2. Both the houses and their interior design during the Georgian Period were influenced by Classicism and Palladianism. The distinction of forms and the decorations used motifs originating from Greece and Rome. Gradually, It had been changed by the influence of Rococo from Europe and the archaeological excavation of Pompeii and Herculaneum. 3. The facade of house used simpe, plain and symmetrical forms. Entrance was usually in the center of the house around sash windows. Also, the Inside of house, division of walls, arrangement of furnitures and decorations of details were followed the symmetrical forms. Finally, it was found that the distinctions represent the typical style of Georgian in England.

에어포일 이산소음 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Discrete Frequency Noise from a Symmetrical Airfoil in a Uniform Flow)

  • The flow field around a symmetrical airfoil in a uniform flow under the generation of noise was studied by experiments and numerical simulation. The experiments are conducted by visualizing the surface flow over the airfoil with a shear-sensitive liquid-crystal coating and by measuring the instantaneous velocity field around the trailing edge of the airfoil. The results indicate that the discrete frequency noise is generated when the separated laminar flow reattaches near the trailing edge of the pressure side and the turbulent boundary layer is formed over the suction side of the airfoil near the trailing edge. The periodic behavior of vortex formation was observed around the trailing edge and it persists further downstream in the wake. The frequency of the vortex formation in the wake was consistent with that of the discrete frequency noise.

누두흉의 수술교정 (Correction of Funnel Chest: A Report of 4 Cases)

  • Four patients with funnel chest deformity corrected in the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Seoul National University Hospital are presented. The first case was a 21-year old female with cyanosis, clubbed fingers and systolic murmur on the left infrascapular region on physical examination associated with agenesis of the right lung. The deformity was of asymmetrical funnel chest, in which the left hemithorax was more sunken. She was corrected by the method of Funnel Costoplasty of Wada. The second case was a three years old boy whose anterior chest wall was symmetrically deformed, and he was corrected by the method of Ravitch using Adkins strut under the sternum. The third was a 22-year old man with symmetrical deformity, and was corrected by the method described by Shannon in 1973. The last patient was a 22-year old man and he had dyspnea on exertion, palpitation and apical systolic murmur with symmetrical funnel chest deformity. He was also corrected by Ravitch operation, All of them has excellent result.

봉쇄가 존재하는 나무형태 대기행렬 네트워크 알고리듬의 이론적 고찰 (Some Theoretical Results on the Algorithm for the Tree-like Queueing Networks with Blocking)

  • Recently Lee et al[5] developed an approximation algorithm for the performance evaluation of the open queueing networks with blocking. This algorithm, which solves the exponential queueing networks with general configuration is developed based on the symmetrical decomposition approach and is reported to have many advantages over the previous algorithmsf. In addition to being very accurate, this algorithm is reported to be quite simple, pretty fast and solves very general configurations. In this study, we show that if a network has a tree-like configurations, the algorithm developed by Lee at al, always converges to the unique solution. To prove the theoretical results pertaining to the algorithm, some properties associated with symmetrical decomposition approach are exploited. The results obtained in this study such as the proofs of convergence of the algorithm as well as uniquences of the solution would contribute to the theoretical study for the non-tandem configurating of open queueing network.
