Comparison of the Tourist Cities' CI in East-coast (동해안 관광도시 CI(City Identity)비교 연구)

  • Local governments have been actively introducing the CIP(City Identity Program), which identity their regional features and publicize the governments, to increase municipal identity and encourage the participation of residents since the self-governing system was enforced. However, some local governments didn't perform the intended purposes. Therefore this paper is to compare regional characters, symbols, slogans of the east-coast cities in Kanwon-do and to evaluate them as a tourism cities' image tools.

  • This paper suggests an evaluation of risk level for damage of marine accidents in SRRs. Qualitative analyses in words is sometimes priorior to quantative analyses in numeric symbols. This paper intoduces a concept of fuzzy theory with the plenty of related literature riview and AHP in the Korean SRRs of RCC and RSC. The methodology of this paper is maxㆍmin composition of fuzzy extensive principle, defuzzifiation is centroid of gravity methods. At the result, the evaluation of risk level is especially over Serous for smarine accident of Taean, Gunsan, Mokpo, Yosu, Tongyoung, Busan SRR. This paper recommends that many Resale Vessels and Equipments need to the reduction of risk level about those.

A Proposal for Revising Hangeul Morse Code (한글 모오스부호의 개선에 대한 방안)

  • This paper points out that the current Hengeul Morse Code is not reasonable in view of information theory. Based on the statistics on Hangeul investigated in 1973, this paper proposes a Hangeul Morse Code with care to handling two compound characters as source symbols and considers its effect on transmission speed. Thus the transmission speed of revised Hangeul Morse Coda is improved about 21% with compare to that of current one.

A Novel Multiple Access Scheme via Compressed Sensing with Random Data Traffic

  • The problem of compressed sensing (CS) based multiple access is studied under the assumption of random data traffic. In many multiple access systems, i.e., wireless sensor networks (WSNs), data arrival is random due to the bursty data traffic for every transmitter. Following the recently developed CS methodology, the technique of compressing the transmitter identities into data transmissions is proposed, such that it is unnecessary for a transmitter to inform the base station its identity and its request to transmit. The proposed compressed multiple access scheme identifies transmitters and recovers data symbols jointly. Numerical simulations demonstrate that, compared with traditional multiple access approaches like carrier sense multiple access (CSMA), the proposed CS based scheme achieves better expectation and variance of packet delays when the traffic load is not too small.

  • An operational strategy for inventory control on finished goods in the distribution system has been given attention to many enterprises and many studies regarding this field have been done and is also on-going currently. Many of these studies represented a large scale distribution network with a unified formulation by using defined symbols. These methods have provided the systematic approach of the distribution network but they are impossible to applying the reality system due to not considering the service rate of demand and treating the shortage of inventory. In order to overcome these unrealistic problems, the novel safety stock policy of responding to customers' inventory distribution network is suggested. this paper explores the transportation between Central Distribution Center(CDC) and Regional Distribution Center(RDC). Especially, the relation of transportation cost between CDC and RDC and cost of inventory control according to safety inventory with service level are emphasized. We could obtain the good results of this study by determining the optimal safety stock considering the various variables and constraints.

  • Motivated mainly by certain interesting recent extensions of the generalized hypergeometric function [30] and the second Appell function [6], we introduce here the incomplete Lauricella functions ${\gamma}^{(n)}_A$ and ${\Gamma}^{(n)}_A$ of n variables. We then systematically investigate several properties of each of these incomplete Lauricella functions including, for example, their various integral representations, finite summation formulas, transformation and derivative formulas, and so on. We provide relevant connections of some of the special cases of the main results presented here with known identities. Several potential areas of application of the incomplete hypergeometric functions in one and more variables are also pointed out.

  • In "Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)", the name of blood vessels is closely related to images of the river, and the word for blood vessel contains the following meaning, such as blood vessel, blood wind as well as blood stasis and so on. In a physiological perspective, the unobstructed blood vessel and normal operation blood are important symbols of health, for blood is the basis for human survival, physical activity and mental activity. In pathology, the external cold, excessive seven emotions and a biased diet can cause many kinds of abnormalities of the blood vessels, which can in turn become causes for a variety of diseases. The theory of blood vessels in "Hwangjenaegyeong" can provide guidance for diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases in practice.

The Effect of Noise and Display Orientation on Cognitive Performance

  • Military personnel encounter a variety of noise environments. During exercises, high intensity noise levels are often encountered. Twenty-four subjects were required to respond to symbols presented under two levels of task difficulty, two levels of presentation rate, two levels of display orientation, and three levels of noise intensity. The purpose of the experiment was to determine whether noise intensity and display orientation had any effect on a short-term memory task. Results showed that continuous white noise at intensity levels of 30, 85, and 105 db had no effect on the shortterm memory task. Presentation rate and task difficulty demonstrated a significant relationship with task performance as did their two-way interaction. This two-way interaction between presentation rate and task difficulty exhibited a different pattern for the two levels of display orientation.

Complexity Reduction Method for BSAC Decoder

  • This letter proposes a complexity reduction method to speed up the noiseless decoding of a bit-sliced arithmetic coding (BSAC) decoder. This scheme fully utilizes the group of consecutive arithmetic-coded symbols known as the decoding band and the significance tree structure sorted in order of significance at every decoding band. With the same audio quality, the proposed method reduces the number of calculations that are performed during the noiseless decoding in BSAC to about 22% of the amount of calculations with the conventional full-search method.

  • Wireless communication systems, in particular, must operate in a crowded electro-magnetic environmnet where in-band undesired signals are treated as noise by the receiver. These interfering signals are often random but not Gaussian Due to nongaussian noise, the distribution of the observables cannot be specified by a finite set of parameters; instead r-dimensioal sample space (pure noise samples) is equiprobably partitioned into a finite number of disjointed regions using quantiles and a vector quantizer based on training samples. If we assume that the detected symbols are correct, then we can observe the pure noise samples during the training and transmitting mode. The algorithm proposed is based on a piecewise approximation to a regression function based on quantities and conditional partition moments which are estimated by a RMSA (Robbins-Monro Stochastic Approximation) algorithm. In this paper, we develop a diversity combiner with modified detector, called Non-Linear Detector, and the receiver has a differential phase detector in each diversity branch and at the combiner each detector output is proportional to the second power of the envelope of branches. Monte-Carlo simulations were used as means of generating the system performance.
