A Golden Coded-Spatial Modulation MIMO System (골든 부호 기반의 공간 변조 다중 안테나 시스템)

  • In this paper, the spatial modulation (SM) multi-input multi-output (MIMO) system is proposed for indoor wireless local area networks (WLANs) with improved spectral efficiency. SM is suitable for high speed WLANs with avoiding the inter channel interference (ICI). Only one transmit antenna is activated in SM at each symbol interval. Therefore, it fails to attain the maximum coding gain of MIMO. The space time block code (STBC)-SM MIMO system can attain the maximum diversity gain at the expense of spectral efficiency. The proposed Golden-SM MIMO system uses the Golden code to improve the coding gain and spectral efficiency at the same time. The Golden code is adapted for STBC-SM and it makes the new code book for transmission symbols. The performance of the proposed system is compared with the conventional systems with computer simulations.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the historical changes of western men's underclothes in the first half of the 20C and analyze functions and features of men's underclothes. This study was to utilize many literatures in the analysis of historical changes of western men's underclothes. In the 1900's, the attached collar was giving place to the detachable, and the coloured shirt for day wear was becoming accepted. The correct wear fur various occasions was given. Double collar was the favourite for day wear. The dress-shirt protector worn over the dress-shirt front. Men preferred to vest and pants in one as a combined garment. In the 1910's, underclothes were permitting freer movement, but what was still more significant was the glowing inclination to reduce the layers which covered the body. The new conception of decency which was beginning to appear continued to characterize underclothing the symbols of social rank, expect for formal occasion, were declining. For day the white shirt was being displaced by the soft-fronted shirt. In the 1927-1930's, Underclothes were reduced in number, extent and thickness. Underclothing had lost two of its original function : it no longer preserved the warmth of the body, nor did it disguise its essential shape. Both sexes discarded the use of white underwear, In the 1930's, men saw an increasing preference for the coloured shirt. Combinations became increasingly popular and the singlet were displacing the under-vest in the 1930's. All undergarments were very commonly in natural colours. In the 1940's, for evening dress. shirt was plain linen front and square cuffs. Short trunks reached to mid-thigh, had a front waist yoke with three button fastening. Underclothes were pursued ease and activity.

Fashion Cultural Products Design using Folk Belief Symbols - Focused on Changsuengs and Sotdaes - (민속신앙 상징물에 의한 패션문화상품 디자인 연구 - 장승과 솟대를 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study is to design fashion-cultural products by reviewing the symbolism in Changseung and Sotdae, which are folk belief sculptures. This study was performed by literature reviews of Changseung and Sotdae in order to look into the characteristics of folk belief and traditional culture, and the designs were developed from the symbolism extracted from Changseung and Sotdae with photoshop CS5 and illustrator CS5. The Symbolism of Changseung and Sotdae were as follows: First, Changseung and Sotdae express the 'symbiotic world view' that human beings need to devote one's life to nature. Second, original materials were saved in order to achieve the 'pursuit of essence'. Third, 'simple esthetic expression' was symbolized through the undivided condition between art, religion and life. And fourth, 'empathic humor' was seen through the basis of emotional sense of affinity. The first concept of design development was 'Pursuit of Essence', which was inspired by the characteristics of 'symbiotic world view' and 'pursuit of essence'. Changseungs were expressed as simple and abstract, and Sotdaes as simplified and modern by symmetrical and rotating copy. The second concept, 'Touch of Humor' was inspired by 'simple esthetic expression' and 'emphatic humor'. The face of Changseungs was exaggerated in a humorous ways and Sotdae was developed as sub-motives. The items for the fashion-cultural design were T-shirts, bags, and scarves. Total of 24 items were developed with 4 differently styled designs for each concept. This study was based on basic culture and attempted to diversify the traditional culture items. It hopes to raise the value of traditional culture, and furthermore help build up national competitiveness.

Discussion on the Background of the Baekeuihosang Phenomenon in Korea - Focusing on Baekeuigo written by Yoo, Changseon - (한국에서 백의호상(白衣好尙) 현상이 고착된 배경에 관한 논의 - 유창선(劉昌宣)의 백의고(白衣考)를 중심으로 -)

  • Korean people have revered the white color and enjoyed wearing white clothes. Various kinds of white clothes have been worn by the Korean people, ranging from everyday wear(便服), and scholar's robe(深衣) for the upper class, to religious costumes like Buddhist monk's robe(僧服), shaman costumes(巫服) and costumes for ancestral rites(祭服), or mourning(喪服). There have been many differing opinions by historians regarding the background of this Baekeuihosang(白衣好尙, the preference for white clothing) tradition and even now, it is frequently being discussed. This study aims to consider and discuss the background of this Baekeuihosang tradition, focusing on Chang-seon Yoo's Baekeuigo(白衣考, the consideration of white clothing), which was published in Dong-A Ilbo in 1934. The purposes of studying literature such as the Baekeuigo is to analyze the arguments on the origin of Baekeuihosang, to analyze Chang-seon Yoo's claim of its origin, and to discuss the culture of Baekeuihosang. Chang-seon Yoo claimed that the existing discussions on the background of Baekeuihosang based on the lack of dyes, or undeveloped technique, economic privation and national control strayed from historical facts, according to literature review. It is not worth discussing the farfetched arguments such as the use of costumes for ancestral rites as everyday wears, or the nation of sorrow. Baekeuihosang tradition mostly originated from the effects of many religions and the taste for innocence, or naturalness. White clothes were infused with the sorrow and emotion of Korean people and were also worn to show resistance to foreign power as symbols of ethnicity. Therefore, there should be a new view of the discussion of white clothes and Korean aesthetic sense, away from the logic distorted by the Japanese colonial view of history.

Fashion and Beauty Involvement According to a Conspicuous Consumption Tendency (과시소비성향에 따른 패션과 뷰티관여도)

  • This study examines the fashion and beauty involvement according to a conspicuous consumption tendency. Questionnaires were used for female university students in their 20s and employees residing in Busan. The results of this study are as follows: The subfactors of conspicuous consumption tendency were divided into the individual pursuit orientation, brand orientation, high price orientation, and fashion pursuit orientation. The subfactors of fashion involvement were composed of physical supplementations, social symbols, outward appearance direction, sex appeal, and assimilation; in addition, those of beauty involvement consisted of hair design, skin management, make-up application, and shape management. Because of the examination of the differences, fashion involvement, and beauty involvement, conspicuous consumption tendency had a significant difference between the two groups in brand orientation, fashion in physical supplementation and outward appearance direction as well as beauty involvement in skin management and make-up direction. The conspicuous consumption tendency in the student influences the fashion pursuit orientation of fashion and beauty involvement because of the examination of the effect. Conspicuous consumption tendency in employees influences the individuality pursuing orientation and high price orientation in fashion involvement. In conclusion, the results show the tendency that university students put the most importance on fashion for fashion and beauty related product purchases and management direction; in addition, employees with income pursue high prices that can show their positions and economic power at work.

Recognition of Symbolic Road Marking using HOG-SP and Improved Lane Detection (HOG-SP를 이용한 방향지시기호 인식 및 향상된 차선 검출)

  • Recently, there is a need for automatic recognition of a variety of symbols on roads because of activation of information services using digital maps on the Web or mobile devices. This paper proposes a method which automatically recognizes 11 kinds of symbolic road markings on the road surface with HOG-SP(Histogram of oriented Gradients-Split Projection) descriptor and shows improvement of lane position detection with recognized symbolic road markings. With the proposed method, recognition rate of 81.99% has been proven on NAVER road view images and the experiments proves the superiority of proposed method by comparisons with other existing methods. Moreover, this paper shows 7.64% higher lane position detection rate by recognizing road surface marking beforehand than only detecting lanes' positions.

Establishing the Culture of Elementary Mathematics Classroom Focused on the Precise Use of Mathematical Language (초등학교 4학년 교실에서 정확한 수학적 언어 사용 문화의 형성)

  • It would have a trouble to communicate mathematically without an appropriate use of mathematical language. Therefore it is necessary to form mathematics classroom culture to encourage students to use mathematical language precisely. A four-month teaching experiment in a 4th grade mathematics class was conducted focused the accurate use of mathematical language. In the course of the teaching experiment, children became more careful to use their language precisely. The use of demonstrative pronouns such as this or that as well as the use of inaccurate or wrong expressions was diminished. Children became to use much more mathematical symbols and terms instead of their imprecise expressions. The result of the experiment suggests that the culture that encourage students to use mathematical language precisely can be formed in elementary mathematics classroom.

  • In this study, we discussed the way to teach algebra earlier through investigating to research trends of Early Algebra and researching about nature of subject involving algebra. There is a strong view that arithmetic and algebra have analogous forms and that algebra is on extension to arithmetic. Nevertheless, it is also possible to present a perspective that the fundamental goal and role of symbols and letters are difference between arithmetic and algebra. And, we could recognize that geometry was starting point of algebra trough historical perspectives. To consider these, we extracted some of possible directions to approaches to teach algebra earlier. To access to teaching algebra earlier, following ways are possible. (1) To consider informal strategy of young children. (2) Arithmetic reasoning considered of the algebraic relation. (3) Starting to algebraic reasoning in the context of geometrical problem situation. (4) To present young students to tool of letters and formular.

Study on the Teaching of Proofs based on Byrne's Elements of Euclid (Byrne의 'Euclid 원론'에 기초한 증명 지도에 대한 연구)

  • It may be replacement proofs with understanding and explaining geometrical properties that was a remarkable change in school geometry of 2009 revised national curriculum for mathematics. That comes from the difficulties which students have experienced in learning proofs. This study focuses on one of those difficulties which are caused by the forms of proofs: using letters for designating some sides or angles in writing proofs and understanding some long sentences of proofs. To overcome it, this study aims to investigate the applicability of Byrne's method which uses coloured diagrams instead of letters. For this purpose, the proofs of three geometrical properties were taught to middle school students by Byrne's visual method using the original source, dynamic representations, and the teacher's manual drawing, respectively. Consequently, the applicability of Byrne's method was discussed based on its strengths and its weaknesses by analysing the results of students' worksheets and interviews and their teacher's interview. This analysis shows that Byrne's method may be helpful for students' understanding of given geometrical proofs rather than writing proofs.

The Name spectrum of domestic menswear brands (국내 남성복 브랜드의 네임스펙트럼)

  • The purpose of this research is to study the types of name spectrum and their characteristics of domestic men's wear brands focusing on formal and casual wear and also examine the differences based on the type of brands' product and brand style. Total 184 of men's wear brands, which were consisted of 66 formal wear brands and 84 casual wear brands, were selected from '2009 Korea Fashion Yearbook'. For data analysis, quantitatively evaluated the frequency and qualitatively evaluated the image of brand product and the meaning of brand name. The result as follows; 1. The domestic fashion brands for men's wear appeared to have four types of name spectrum. The descriptive name was the most frequently showed, and followed by arbitrary, suggestive, and coined name. For formal wear brands, four types of name spectrum were appeared in the order of descriptive, suggestive, coined, and arbitrary name. In casual wear brands, three types of name spectrum were appeared in the order of descriptive, arbitrary, and suggestive name. 2. The characteristics of men's brand name according to their name spectrum was as follows.; In the descriptive brand names, person's name was used the most and some ascribed the characteristics, feature or geographic location of the product. The suggestive brand names contained images and symbols of the product and also implied the relevant benefit information in a particular product context. In the arbitrary brand name, they imply the various meanings according to the product and are made up of either coined or natural. For the coined name, some bear the ideology or symbolized the characteristics of product itself. 3. The descriptive name spectrum showed the most in domestic menswear brands, regardless of the brand type. Except this, there were differences in the type and the frequency of name spectrum depending on the brand type.
