This study explored interpretation of the symbolical and metaphorical aesthetics in experiencing art/craft/handmade/studio furniture theoretically for 'wood culture experience class' or 'wood love experience class' by the Korea Forest Service because the class tends to focus on making simple wood works involved just in the practical part. Qualitative conceptual analysis as the principal methodology was used to achieve the theoretical context in the experience programs. After the lesson one on defining the postmodern aesthetics in New Design furniture as metaphor in the previous paper, I developed lesson two for an aesthetics of art and everyday life with wood furniture which expresses the metaphorical and symbolical aesthetics appeared as New Design furniture in postmodernism. As statement of objective in the second lesson, I explored that students in elementary schools personally transform and interpret the postmodern aesthetics of New Design furniture metaphorically with the meanings of symbol. As a result, the students will be able to write about the aesthetics of New Design furniture as metaphor in interpretation transformed by his/her perspective of a piece of selected New Design furniture.

This study explored the background of contemporary furniture design called New Design furniture, which newly expresses the aesthetics of communication in the postmodern era. Qualitative conceptual analysis as the principle methodology was used to explore the background of the decorative and meaningful contemporary furniture in postmodernism. Thereby, the postmodern concepts of Charles Jencks, Robert Venturi, and Michael Graves were analyzed in terms of their postmodern architecture and furniture. As initiatives of postmodern architecture and furniture, Jencks, Venturi, and Graves explored the pluralism and eclecticism, the decoration, the semantics, and the materials reestablished from the traditions of craft. As a result, their furniture was expressed by various wood and color; the furniture was beautiful, decorative, pluralistic, and eclectic for communicating symbol, metaphor, narrative, and/or humor with people; the furniture has influenced the communicative elements on the contemporary furniture design called New Design furniture design, which shows the blurring of fine arts and craft distinctions.

This study explored the characteristics of contemporary furniture called New Design furniture design in terms of aesthetics of communication in the postmodern era. Qualitative conceptural analysis as the principal methodology was used to explore the characteristics of New Design furniture, which is accessible to the broadest possible public. Thereby, the communicative elements of symbol, metaphor, narrative, animation, imagination, humor, and/or wit expressed in New Design furniture were analyzed according to the designers'concept and work. As a result the postmodern aesthetics of communication made New Design furniture accessible to the largest number of People through cultural considerations in New Design furniture as it influences designers 'concept and work. However, it showed problems of New Design furniture in connection with postmodern aesthetics affecting mass production. Therefore, the designers have begun rethinking, redefining, and redesigning their furniture aesthetically, functionally, economically, and ecologically.

This research against the method of applying a traditional design elements to modern interior space is classified and analyzed by direct expression method, a transfigure expression method, a metaphor expression method and a symbol expression method. The direct expression method means the modernizing the traditional design elements by expressing traditional material and structural formative style as they are, and the transfigure expression method is the design method of re-organizing the elements by simplifying and transfiguring the traditional design elements. Metaphor expression method includes the method of expressing visually the formative concept which does not known concretely, and the symbol expression method exchanges the rising concepts into concrete elements and expresses by new design.

After the Industrialism, long-lasting issues about Post-Industrialism have closely been associated with our daily lives. The keyword of Post-Industrialism could be regarded as Immateriality, which is represented by service, Information and knowledge. In the Post-Industrial society, the major role of Post-Industrial design trend is a mediator to deliver the immateriality to users. Additionally, the maturity of technologies and product life cycle have leaded users to the design trend that is free from the technologies and functions of products. In this context, the most powerful trend of the Post-Industrial design could be "metaphor design" and "poetic dimension". The similarity of these two styles is situated in the romanticism -reflection of symbol and metaphor. However, the appearance of Apple's iMac in 1998, poetic dimension, which uses transparent plastic and colourful, pleasurable 'blobjects' has dominated the post-industrial design trend.

본 논문의 연구는 은유라는 문학적인 수사 기법이 영화 속에서 갖는 의미를 찾아내고, 은유와 상징의 차이를 이해하는 데 목적이 있다. 또한 앞으로 영화의 은유에 관한 공부에 참고가 될 가치도 있다. 본 논문은 관련 논문을 읽어서 관련 개념을 정리하고 고전영화를 반복적으로 보고, 그 속에 있는 은유의 표현요소를 찾아낼 것이다. 마지막으로 트루먼 쇼를 보고 분석하고 결론을 찾는다. 관련 연구를 통해 영화 속 은유는 항상 주제, 제목, 대사, 그리고 극의 다양한 측면을 통해 함께 구축된다는 것을 알게 되었다. 화면을 통해 단서를 제공하고 관객의 사고를 유도한다. 은유는 영화의 내용을 향상시키는 데 도움이 될 뿐만 아니라, 관객들에게 영향을 주고 사고를 유도하는 것이 영화에서 가장 중요한 기능이다.

This research investigated if the embodied symbol using a turtle metaphor in a microworld environment works as a cognitive tool to mediate the learning of combinatorics. It was found that students were able to not only count the number of cases systematically by using the embodied symbols in a situated problem regarding Permutation and Combination, but also find the rules and infer a concept of Combination through the activities manipulating the symbols. Therefore, we concluded that the embodied symbol, as a bridge that connects learners' concrete experiences with abstract mathematical concepts, can be applied to introduction of various mathematical concepts as well as a combinatorics concept.

The main gate of a university is a element of landscape which improves the quality of campus as well as demarcates the boundary and publicizes the image of university. Therefore, each university strives to differentiate its main gate from that of other universities with a unique form. This research investigates the signs and symbols shown at the university's main gate of 18 universities in Korea, and also presents useful design tips with the objective of bearing the spirit of the campus and its founding ideology. The results of this research as follows: Icons of Sign for 18 universities can be classified into five separate categories: things, human, animal, character, and metaphor. Examples of the 'things' icons include a pen nib, the sun, the cross, a big bell, and so on. Also, the meaning of the represented symbols can be grouped in three separate categories: university's development, contribution to society, and mining of knowledge. From the three category, university development symbol is the most likely to be used.

This plan is to express a Image and Symbol in the Church Architecture by analogy and metaphor. The Church was spiritual sympathy of the god and a human being. So, symbolic image is important in church architecture at present. These symbolize express to wishful message, persecution, miracle and Noah's Ark. In this project, meaning is transmitted to through with analogy.
