Low area field-programmable gate array implementation of PRESENT image encryption with key rotation and substitution

  • Lightweight ciphers are increasingly employed in cryptography because of the high demand for secure data transmission in wireless sensor network, embedded devices, and Internet of Things. The PRESENT algorithm as an ultralightweight block cipher provides better solution for secure hardware cryptography with low power consumption and minimum resource. This study generates the key using key rotation and substitution method, which contains key rotation, key switching, and binary-coded decimal-based key generation used in image encryption. The key rotation and substitution-based PRESENT architecture is proposed to increase security level for data stream and randomness in cipher through providing high resistance to attacks. Lookup table is used to design the key scheduling module, thus reducing the area of architecture. Field-programmable gate array (FPGA) performances are evaluated for the proposed and conventional methods. In Virtex 6 device, the proposed key rotation and substitution PRESENT architecture occupied 72 lookup tables, 65 flip flops, and 35 slices which are comparably less to the existing architecture.

GMPLS 네트워크에서 Lambda Routing Table 조회형 동적 라우팅 방식 및 특성 (Lambda Routing Table based Dynamic Routing Scheme and Its Characteristics on GMPLS Network)

  • 본 논문에서는 광 IP 네트워크에서 멀티 계층 라우팅시 발생하는 문제점을 해결하는 기존의 동적 멀티 계층 라우팅 방식에 대하여 설명하구 Lambda 라우팅 테이블 조회형 패킷 LSP 설정 방식을 제안한다. 기존 및 제안하는 방식 모두 먼저 광 경로(Lambda LSP)의 설정 유무를 판단한 후, 패킷 LSP를 설정하는 절차를 수행한다. 이 경우, Lambda LSP가 설정 되어있다면, Lambda LSP를 통하여 패킷 LSP 경로를 설정한다. 그러나 Lambda LSP가 설정 되어있지 않다면, 3가지 방식은 서로 다른 절차를 통하여 패킷 LSP 경로를 설정하게 된다. 기존 방식은 소스와 목적지 노드 사이에 2개 또는 그 이상의 노드를 거쳐 이용 가능한 Lambda LSP 또는 직접 접속이 가능한 Lambda LSP를 찾은 다음에 패킷 LSP를 설정하는 방식이다. 제안하는 방식은 소스와 목적지 노드 사이에서 패킷 LSP 설정은 Lambda LSP 라우팅 테이블을 조회하여 설정하는 방식으로 상위계층에서 하위계층의 라우팅을 동시에 수행하는 특징을 갖는다. 따라서 제안하는 방식은 라우팅 시간을 짧게 하는 방식으로 높은 p에 대해서는 기존 방식에 비해 트래픽 수용 능력이 우수함을 보이고 있다. 여기서 p는 packet-switching-capable port의 수를 의미한다.

간접접촉형 실내조명 스위치의 설계 및 접촉부 절연물질별 스위칭 동작감도 고찰 (Design of Room Lighting Switch Operated by Indirect Touch and Research on the Switching Sensitivity of Dielectric Materials On Electrode Metal)

  • 입력부 근방의 정전용량 변화를 감지하여 동작하는 간접접촉형 실내조명 스위치를 설계하고 제작했다. 그리고 간접접촉 스위치의 입력 전극에 설치된 커패시터의 정전용량을 변화시켜가며 간접접촉을 감지하는 입력 전극을 절연하는 물질의 두께 및 종류 변화에 따른 동작 감도를 측정한 결과를 표와 그래프로 나타냈다. 절연 물질은 유리, 아크릴, 그리고 나무(MDF)였는데, 이들의 유전율은 상당히 다르지만 스위치의 동작 감도는 유전율의 차이만큼 크지 않은 것이 확인되었다.

Sustainable Entrepreneurship among Rural Women in Nigeria: An Assessment of Benefits

  • Purpose - While sustainability is based on the argument that the world's resources are finite and their demand will ultimately surpass supply, entrepreneurship on the other hand argues that there are inherent opportunities to address this through conserving, recycling, switching to more renewable resources and making effective use of available finite resources. Research design, data, and methodology - In response to the lack of scientific information on the outcomes of entrepreneurship in rural Nigeria, this paper surveys the benefits (social, economic and environmental) of women engagement in waste plastic bags recycling in Adamawa State of Nigeria. A descriptive research design was adopted and data was collected from 26 respondents with the use of a semi-structured questionnaire, which was analyzed using descriptive statistics and presented in frequency tables. Results - Results indicated that 21 women have gained employment, who would have remained unemployed; 80.8% of who make profits below 10000 Naira per month and collectively, they recycle 179.3kg of waste polythene bag per month. Conclusions - It was recommended that the women should be further their education; adequate records of costs and sales should be kept; and savings should be encouraged among them.

Optimum Design of Integer and Fractional-Order PID Controllers for Boost Converter Using SPEA Look-up Tables

  • This paper presents a method of designing optimal integer- and fractional-order proportional-integral-derivative (FOPID) controllers for a boost converter to gain a set of favorable characteristics at various operating points. A Pareto-based multi-objective optimization approach called strength Pareto evolutionary algorithm (SPEA) is used to obtain fast and low overshoot start-up and dynamic responses and switching stability. The optimization approach generates a set of optimal gains called Pareto set, which corresponds to a Pareto front. The Pareto front is a set of optimal results for objective functions. These results provide designers with a trade-off look-up table, in which they can easily choose any of the optimal gains based on design requirements. The SPEA also overcomes the difficulties of tuning the FOPID controller, which is an extension to the classic integer-order PID controllers and potentially promises better results. The proposed optimized FOPID controller provides an excellent start-up response and the desired dynamic response. This paper presents a detailed comparison of the optimum integer- and the fractional-order PID controllers. Extensive simulation and experimental results prove the superiority of the proposed design methodology to achieve a wide set of desired technical goals.
