  • This paper presents the design of zero current switching ZCS pulse frequency modulation type DC-DC converter for magnetron power supply. A magnetron serving as the microwave source in a microwave oven is driven by a switch mode power supply (SMPS). SMPSs have the advantages of improved efficiency, reduced size and weight, regulation and the ability to operate directly from the converter DC bus. The demands of the load system and the design of the power supply required to produce constant power at 4[kV]. A magnetron power supply requires the ability to limit the load current under short circuit conditions. The current source series resonant converter is a circuit configuration which can achieve this. The main features of the proposed converter are an inherent protection against a short circuit at the output, a high voltage gain and zero current switching over a large range of output power. These characteristics make it a viable choice for the implementation of a high voltage magnetron power supply.

  • In a switching power supply, the high frequency switching makes the passive components small, but the losses and the stresses of switches are increased by the switching frequency. Therefore, zero crossing technology using resonant is used to improve defect in high switching. In generally, zero crossing switching consists of Zero Current Switching(ZCS) and Zero Voltage Switching(ZVS). This paper proposes A Buck ZC-ZVS Converter with Reduced Conduction Losses. Comparing with a conventional Buck ZC-ZVS Converter, the proposed converter operates with the smaller rated power. This is achieved by changing the auxiliary switch position, which reduces its rating power. Simulation results using Pspice program about test circuit with rated 160W(30V, 5.3A) at 30kHz and experiment result under same condition were described in the paper.

  • In recent, electronic devices were able to develop and focus for ultra-compact size, intelligence, multifunction and broadband. Their SMPS is realized to ultra-compact size, light weight, high efficiency, high reliability, low noises. The power module which can be used to supply DC output from a commercial power supply (85 to 265 VAC). A switching power supply can be made easily by adding simply external circuit, such as microcontroller, a relay, etc. It would be apply to mostly electronic devices, and fit the global project "Saving energy". But we need to statistical analysis for a quality and performance about a load and an output voltage in product.

  • One of the many problems besetting the converter designer is being able to design a switching power supply that can operate in the range of very wide input voltage. Specially, in an emergency diesel generator system, the AVR(Automatic Voltage Regulator) is a regulator which regulates the output voltage of the generator at a nominal constant voltage level. In addition, the AVR must be operated in very wide input voltage. Therefore, a power supply for the AVR must be operated at the very wide input voltage range. In this paper, a quasi-resonant flyback power supply with very wide input voltage range is proposed. Also, the performance of the proposed power supply is demonstrated through experiments.

  • The mode-switching control of transient process is important to grid-connected 400 Hz solid-state power supply systems. Therefore, this paper analyzes the principle of on-grid and islanding operation of the system with or without local loads in the grid-connected process and provides a theoretical study of the effect of different switching sequences on the mode-switching transient process. The conclusion is that the mode switch (MS) must be turned on before the solid-state switch (STS) in the on-grid process and that STS must be turned off before the MS in the off-grid process. A strategy of mode-switching smooth control for transient process of the system is proposed, including its concrete steps. The strategy utilizes the average distribution of peak currents and the smooth adjustment of peak currents and phases to achieve a no-shock grid connection. The simulation and experimental results show that the theoretical analysis is correct and that the method is effective.

  • This paper proposes a low voltage high current LLC resonant converter for Green PC. Green PC is composed of a lot of blade PCs, and it is a centralized system to manage them in computer center. Green PC should require that its power supplies have several characteristics such as low output voltage, high output current, and high power conversion efficiency. Conventional PSFB (Phase Shift Full Bridge) converter is usually used as DC/DC converter for computer power supply because it has high power conversion efficiency thanks to ZVS (Zero Voltage Switching) operation under middle and high load conditions. However, this converter has some problems such as large switching noise and limitation of ZVS operation under light load condition. In order to improve the performance of power supply for Green PC, a new power supply using popular high efficiency LLC resonant converter for low voltage and high current application is proposed in this paper. The proposed power supply has ZVS capability over the entire load range, thus resulting in good efficiency and high switching frequency. Experimental results verify the performance of the proposed power supply for Green PC using 2[kW] (19[V], 105[A]) rated prototype converter.

  • A new high voltage DC power supply is proposed. The proposed power supply is constructed with several power converters connected in series. It is easy to obtain high DC voltage for the same structure of each power converter. The output DC power of the proposed power supply can be disconnected from the load within several hundred microseconds at the instant of a load short-circuit fault. The rising time of the output DC voltage is also as small as several hundred microseconds, and there is no overshoot of the voltage because all of the output filter capacitors keep undischarged state even in load short-circuit condition. Therefore, the proposed scheme is suitable for the protection of frequent output short-circuit and fast on/off switching of output DC voltage. The proposed power supply has improved features such as simple structure, high power factor, and reduced size and volume compared with the conventional schemes. The operating principle is described and the validity of the proposed scheme is proved through simulations and experiments.

  • This paper describes the analysis of the effect on personnel computer in case of turning off power supply of main breaker in general electrical installation. In order to analyze the effect on personnel computer in case of turning off the power supply of main breaker, the switching impulse generator has been designed and fabricated which makes it possible to evaluate the effect on electrical product by switching impulse. The switching impulse tests were carried out for personnel computer according to applied voltage and number of switching impulse. As a consequence, switching impulse had not a significant influence on personnel computer in this study. The varistor of power input section functions as a protection of switching impulse as well as lightning impulse. The results will be used to related organization, and electrical product manufacturer, and residents.

  • The UPS(Uninterruptible Power Supply) system operates in the battery charging mode when the grid is normal, and in the UPS mode, which is the battery discharge mode when a grid error occurs. Since the UPS must supply the same voltage as the grid to the load within 4 [ms] in case of a grid error, the switching time and power recovery time should be short when controlling the output voltage and current of the UPS, and the power failure detection time is also important. The power outage detection algorithm using DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) proposed in this paper compares the grid voltage waveform with the voltage waveform including the 9th harmonic generated through DFT using Schmitt trigger to detect power outage faster than the existing power outage monitoring algorithm. There are advantages. Therefore, it is possible to supply instant and stable power when switching modes in the UPS system. The multi-power-applied UPS system proposed in this paper uses DFT, which is faster than the conventional blackout monitoring algorithm in detecting power failure, to provide stable power to the load in a shorter time than the existing power outage monitoring algorithm when a system error occurs. The detection method was applied. The changeover time of mode switching was set to less than 4 [ms], which is 1/4 of the system cycle, in accordance with KSC 4310 regulation, which was established by the Industrial Standards Council on the regulation of uninterruptible power supply. A 10 [kW] UPS system in which commercial voltage, vehicle generator, and auxiliary diesel generator can be connected to each of the proposed transfer devices was constructed and the feasibility was verified by conducting an experiment.
