In this study, a simulation investigation was conducted on the method of reducing switching noise and spurious emission among design methods for step-down DC-DC converter modules for automotive. A typical 4-layer converter circuit using a PMIC(Power Management Integrated Circuit) chip was presented, and the simulation results of conductive emissions at two input terminals (+, -) and the point between the input filter and the PMIC was performed in the 1.0~5.0MHz band and the 100MHz band. The results for the conducted and radiated emissions in the HF(3~30MHz) and VHF(30-300MHz) bands were presented. It showed an improvement of about 10dB over the bands by routing the output terminal placed on the 3 or 4-layer in the opposite direction to the input terminal. The result of this study is expected to be useful in the design of the DC-DC converter modules in the future because it gives a better improvement compared to the existing methods.
A single-and dual-wavelength switchable polarized Yb-doped double-clad fiber laser around 1120 nm based on a pair of fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) is demonstrated. The polarization-maintaining (PM) linear cavity is composed of a double clad PM Yb-doped fiber (YDF) and a pair of PM FBGs. The laser can operate in stable dual-wavelength or wavelength-switching modes due to the polarization hole burning (PHB) and the spatial hole burning (SHB) enhanced by the PM linear cavity. In dual-wavelength operation, the two orthogonally polarized wavelengths are centered at 1118.912 nm and 1119.152 nm, with an interval of 0.24 nm and a signal to noise ratio (SNR) of 35 dB. The maximum output power is 14.67 W when the launched LD pump is 24 W corresponding to an optical efficiency of 61.1%. The lasing lines switchover may be realized by adjusting the polarization controller (PC) fitted in the cavity. The two single-wavelengths are 1118.912 nm and 1119.152 nm. When the injected LD pump is 24 W, the highest output powers are 7.68 W and 8.64 W corresponding to optical efficiencies of 32% and 36% respectively. The spectral linewidth of the lasing lines are 0.075 nm and 0.07 nm, and the average numerical values of PER aredB and 19.9 dB, respectively.

In this paper, we designed a compact frequency synthesizer with multi-function for Ka-band seeker. DDS(Direct Digital Synthesizer) is applied to generate various waveform and to cover high-speed frequency sweep. In order to reduce size, waveform generator and frequency up-converter are integrated in one module. Proposed frequency synthesizer provides precise detection and tracking waveform for low and high speed targets. It is observed that fabricated synthesizer performs $0.45{\mu}sec$ frequency switching time and -93.69 dBc/Hz phase noise at offset 1 kHz. The size of the synthesizer is kept within 120 mm width, 120 mm length and 22 mm height.

This paper presents a new switchable dual mode VCO(Voltage-Controlled Oscillator). The VCO is efficient in dual mode operation and has self-bias adjustment based on the operation frequencies of 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. The switching is done using MOS transistors and tuning is done using MOS varactors. It is implemented using TSMC 0.18${\mu}$m CMOS technology. It is powered by 1.8V supply. The measured results showed that the overall tuning range is approximately 13% at 5 GHz and 8% at 2.4 GHz. The measured phase noise is approximately -102 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset for 5 GHz and -89 dBc/Hz at 600kHz offset for 2.4 GHz. The VCO showed tail currents of 2mA in 5GHz mode and 2.5mA in 2.4GHz mode from a 1.8 V supply, respectively.

The existing multiple modulus-based self-recovering equalization type has not been applied to initial equalization. Instead, it was used for steady-state performance improvement. In this paper, for the self-recovering equalization type that considers the multiple modulus as a desired response, the initial convergence performance was improved by extending the dynamics of the errors using error boosting and their characteristics were analyzed. Error boosting in the proposed method was carried out in proportion to a symbol decision for the equalizer output. Furthermore, having the initial convergence capability by extending the dynamics of errors, it showed excellent performance in the initial convergence rate and steady-state error level. In particular, the proposed method can be applied to the entire process of equalization through a single algorithm; the existing methods of switching over or the selection of other operation modes, such as concurrent operating with other algorithms, are not necessary. The usefulness of the proposed method was verified by simulations performed under the channel conditions with multipath propagation and additional noise, and for performance analysis of self-recovering equalization for high-order signal constellations.

In terms of 3D orientation estimation based on nine-axis IMMU(inertial and magnetic measurement unit), there are two disturbance components decreasing estimation accuracy: one is external acceleration disturbing accelerometer's signals and the other is magnetic disturbance related to magnetometer's signals. In order to minimize effects by these two disturbances, two approaches including switching approach and model-based approach have been suggested and further research comparing these two has also been conducted. Nevertheless, effect of disturbance modeling differences on orientation estimation accuracy in model-based approach has not been studied before. This paper compares the recently reported two orientation estimation algorithms that have difference in disturbance models, in order to investigate the effect of disturbance models on accuracy of IMMU-based orientation estimation under various operating conditions. This research shows that the difference in disturbance models leads to difference in process noise covariance matrix. Consequently, this affected the orientation estimation, i.e., the estimation differences between the algorithms were root mean square errors of $1.35^{\circ}$ in average and $3.63^{\circ}$ in yaw estimation.
Injecting currents into an electrically conducting subject, we may measure the induced magnetic flux density distributions using an MRI scanner. The measured data are utilized to reconstruct cross-sectional images of internal conductivity and current density distributions in Magnetic Resonance Electrical Impedance Tomography (MREIT). Injection currents are usually provided in a form of mono-polar or bi-polar pulses synchronized with an MR pulse sequence. Given an MRI scanner performing the MR phase imaging to extract the induced magnetic flux density data, the current source becomes one of the key parts determining the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the measured data. Since this SNR is crucial in determining the quality of reconstructed MREIT images, special care must be given in the design and implementation of the current source. This paper describes a current source design for MREIT with features including interleaved current injection, arbitrary current waveform, electrode switching to discharge any stored charge from previous current injections, optical isolation from an MR spectrometer and PC, precise current injection timing control synchronized with any MR pulse sequence, and versatile PC control program. The performance of the current source was verified using a 3T MRI scanner and saline phantoms.

Recently, mobile devices have evolved into small computers with various functions according to user requirements. Careful attention must be paid to the design of the power supply network for the stable operation of the application processor (AP), the wireless communication modem, the high performance camera, and the various interfaces of the mobile device to implement various functions of the mobile device. In this paper, we analyzed and verified the method of optimizing the design parameters such as the position, capacity, and number of decoupling capacitors to meet the target impedance required by the driver IC chip to ensure the stability of the power supply network of mobile devices that should be designed as wiring type due to mounting density limitation. The proposed wired power supply network design method can be applied to various applications including high-speed signal transmission line in addition to mobile applications.

BLDC motors are getting better performance due to the improvement of material technology including high performance of permanent magnets, advancement of driving IC technology with high integration and high functionality, and improvement of assembly technology such as high point ratio. While having the advantage of such a square wave driven BLDC motor, interest in the design and development of a square wave driven BLDC permanent magnet motor and development of a position detection circuit and driver is increasing in order to more meet the needs of users. However, in spite of the cost and functional advantages due to reduced efficiency, switching loss and vibration, noise, etc., the application is somewhat limited. Therefore, in this paper, we study a position detection circuit that generates a sinusoidal signal in proportion to the magnetic flux of a BLDC motor rotor using a Hall Effect Sensor that generates a sinusoidal wave to increase the efficiency of the motor, reduce ripple, and drive a sinusoidal current with excellent speed and torque characteristics.
Uniformity is a key feature of state-of-the-art infrared focal planed array (IRFPA) and infrared imaging system. Unlike traditional infrared telescope facility, a ground-based infrared radiant characteristics measurement system with an IRFPA not only provides a series of high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) infrared image but also ensures the validity of radiant measurement data. Normally, a long integration time tends to produce a high SNR infrared image for infrared radiant characteristics radiometry system. In view of the variability of and uncertainty in the measured target's energy, the operation of switching the integration time and attenuators usually guarantees the guality of the infrared radiation measurement data obtainted during the infrared radiant characteristics radiometry process. Non-uniformity correction (NUC) coefficients in a given integration time are often applied to a specified integration time. If the integration time is switched, the SNR for the infrared imaging will degenerate rapidly. Considering the effect of the SNR for the infrared image and the infrared radiant characteristics radiometry above, we propose a-wide-dynamic-range NUC algorithm. In addition, this essasy derives and establishes the mathematical modal of the algorithm in detail. Then, we conduct verification experiments by using a ground-based MWIR(Mid-wave Infared) radiant characteristics radiometry system with an Ø400 mm aperture. The experimental results obtained using the proposed algorithm and the traditional algorithm for different integration time are compared. The statistical data shows that the average non-uniformity for the proposed algorithm decreased from 0.77% to 0.21% at 2.5 ms and from 1.33% to 0.26% at 5.5 ms. The testing results demonstrate that the usage of suggested algorithm can improve infrared imaging quality and radiation measurement accuracy.
