The switch for a maglev vehicle should be designed such that the vehicle safely changes its track without touching the guiderail. In particular, a medium-to-low-speed EMS -type maglev train relies heavily on a U-type electromagnet where it generates levitation force and guidance force simultaneously. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the safety of the vehicle whenever it passes the switch, as it lacks active control of the guidance force. Furthermore, when the vehicle passes a segmented switch, which is a group of curves made up of connected lines with a small radius of curvature, it may come into mechanical contact with the guiderail owing to the excessive lateral displacement of the electromagnet. The goal of this study is to analyze the influence of a segmented switch on the safety of major design-related variables for achieving improved running safety. We propose a three-dimensional multibody dynamics model composed of two cars with one body. Using the proposed model, we perform a simulation of the lateral air gap, which is one of the measurements of the running safety of the vehicle when it passes the switch. The analyzed design variables are the length between short span girder, the articulation angle, the length between two centers of a fixed girder at its ends, and the number of girders. On the basis of the effects of the considered design variables, we establish an optimized design of a switch with improved safety.
Korea's agricultural land is constantly being reduced. The reasons for this are due to the change of agricultural profitability and the policy conditions. The reduction of agricultural land in 2010 showed a decline trend by 14.4 % of paddy fields and 1.2% of uplands compared to areas from 2000. These reductions were mainly due to switch rice paddy fields into upland or greenhouse facility cultivation because of low profitability of rice products compared to farm products. In addition, the permit system of agricultural areas was relaxed in switching paddy fields and this accelerated the reduction of agricultural land. For this reason, more than 1% of agricultural land area has been reduced every year for last five years. Moreover, indiscreet fill and cover materials such as construction wastes were used in agricultural lands and caused land contamination which threatened foundation as sustainable agricultural lands. For these reasons, it is a desperate situation to conserve good agricultural lands. However, the standards of transported soils, filling soils and cutting soils in the Agricultural Land Act are qualitative and have a problem of causing complaints. Therefore, the following criteria (proposals) are proposed in the Agricultural Land Act; (1) Use the proper soils for crops (criterion), (2) Soil components and amounts should be proper as transported soils (range), and (3) Prohibiting usage of improper earth rocks or recycled aggregates in case of filling soils (kinds). The presented criteria (proposals) suggest following; (1) Use physio-chemically proper soils for crops (criterion), (2) In case of transported soils, i, exclude potential acid sulphate soils, ii, gravel content sould be less than 15%, and iii, Heavy metals and other contaminants should be less than the soil contamination warning limit from the Ministry of Environments, (3) In case of filling soils, 13 kinds of recycled wastes specified in the Wastes Control Act should not be used as filling soils, (4) Practice soil conservation technology in case of sloping areas, and (5) Follow proper fertilizer application standards for maturing paddy fields and uplands when cutting soils.
With the development of water internet technology, data communication between objects is expanding. Research related to data communication technology between vehicles that incorporates related technologies into vehicles has been actively conducted. For data communication between mobile terminals, data stability, reliability, and real-time performance must be guaranteed. The 5 GHz Wi-Fi band, which is advantageous in bandwidth, communications speed, and wireless saturation of the wireless network, was selected as the data communications network between vehicles. This study analyzes how to design and implement a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network in a vehicle network. Considering the characteristics of the mobile communication terminal device, a continuous variable communications structure is proposed to enable high-speed data switching. We simplify the access point access procedure to reduce the latency between wireless terminals. By limiting the Transmission Control Protocol Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)-based Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server function and implementing it in a broadcast transmission protocol method, communication delay between terminal devices is improved. Compared to the general commercial Wi-Fi communication method, the connection operation and response speed have been improved by five seconds or more. Utilizing this method can be applied to various types of event data communication between vehicles. It can also be extended to wireless data-based intelligent road networks and systems for autonomous driving.

The combination of the broadband property and the wide area coverage of satellite communications enables high speed transmission. Every user in the region under the satellite beam coverage can tranceiver and one can simultaneously communicate with multiple users. For these reasons, it is one of commendable telecommunication networks for information transfer. Since the satellite communications use open channels, it is likely to cause jamming with unwanted interference signals. In the thesis, APSK (Amplitude Phase Shift Keying) is employed, which is recommended for DVB-S2 due to high-speed transmission and excellent bandwidth efficiency. For obtaining reliable communication under the jamming environments, the communication satellite transponder rests on the polyphase filter bank structure, which enables switching among the subchannels and gain control on each subchannel, resulting in effectively eliminating jamming. Furthermore, the nulling scheme, one of the various anti-jamming approaches, is investigated, in which unwanted jamming signals are eliminated in the frequency domain after passing through the analysis part of the polyphase filter bank. The performance of the nulling scheme is evaluated for tone jamming and partial band jamming in terms of BER and EVM. The simulation results indicate that the nulling scheme improve the BER and EVM performance over the case without any anti-jamming approach.
The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. The present study suggests a correlation between regions of the low wall shear stress and the development of anastomotic neointimal fibrous hyperplasia(ANPH) in end-to-end anastomoses. 30523 T00401030523 ^x Air pressure decay(APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those roused in patients several times. This article reviews the papers published in the Korean Journal of Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Engineering during 2008. It is intended to understand the status of current research in the areas of heating, cooling, ventilation, sanitation, and indoor environments of buildings and plant facilities. Conclusions are as follows. (1) Research trends in thermal and fluid engineering have been surveyed in the categories of general fluid flow, fluid machinery and piping, new and renewable energy, and fire. Well-developed CFD technologies were widely applied in developing facilities and their systems. New research topics include fire, fuel cell, and solar energy. Research was mainly focused on flow distribution and optimization in the fields of fluid machinery and piping. Topics related to the development of fans and compressors had been popular, but were no longer investigated widely. Research papers on micro heat exchangers using nanofluids and micro pumps were also not presented during this period. There were some studies on thermal reliability and performance in the fields of new and renewable energy. Numerical simulations of smoke ventilation and the spread of fire were the main topics in the field of fire. (2) Research works on heat transfer presented in 2008 have been reviewed in the categories of heat transfer characteristics, industrial heat exchangers, and ground heat exchangers. Research on heat transfer characteristics included thermal transport in cryogenic vessels, dish solar collectors, radiative thermal reflectors, variable conductance heat pipes, and flow condensation and evaporation of refrigerants. In the area of industrial heat exchangers, examined are research on micro-channel plate heat exchangers, liquid cooled cold plates, fin-tube heat exchangers, and frost behavior of heat exchanger fins. Measurements on ground thermal conductivity and on the thermal diffusion characteristics of ground heat exchangers were reported. (3) In the field of refrigeration, many studies were presented on simultaneous heating and cooling heat pump systems. Switching between various operation modes and optimizing the refrigerant charge were considered in this research. Studies of heat pump systems using unutilized energy sources such as sewage water and river water were reported. Evaporative cooling was studied both theoretically and experimentally as a potential alternative to the conventional methods. (4) Research papers on building facilities have been reviewed and divided into studies on heat and cold sources, air conditioning and air cleaning, ventilation, automatic control of heat sources with piping systems, and sound reduction in hydraulic turbine dynamo rooms. In particular, considered were efficient and effective uses of energy resulting in reduced environmental pollution and operating costs. (5) In the field of building environments, many studies focused on health and comfort. Ventilation. system performance was considered to be important in improving indoor air conditions. Due to high oil prices, various tests were planned to examine building energy consumption and to cut life cycle costs.
