  • Environmental Literacy is needed to establish a sustainable society and can be very well developed through Outdoor Environmental Education(OEE). However, establishing OEE in Korea is a very difficult. Thus, it is very important to find out which factors influence the sustainability of OEE. The purpose of this study is to identify those factors. Participatory observation research and some interviews were used in "The Whale Class" of the University of Georgia in the United States. Major findings and recommendations were as follows: (1) OEEs give participants good experiences about the environment; (2) Program operators of OEEs are enthusiastic about education and environmental conservation; (3) Good educational practices such as cooperative education and participation in conversation foster learning; (4) Good organizations with guest lectures from various environmental fields would be beneficial; (5) Public information about environmental programs would be helpful; (6) Administrative support for those organizations connected to environmental programs would be useful; and (7) OEE provide reflection activities to foster Environmental Literacy.

  • The issue of sustainability has been prevailed not only in building industry but also all other industries. It has been raised that the concept of sustainability should take into account for the design of multi-use high-rise apartments. In this study, the present situation and trends of the multi-use high-rise apartment construction have been reviewed. The definition of sustainable design of high-rise apartment has been clarified so as to perceive the related design elements through the literature survey. Finally this study has derived the sustainable design elements of high-rise apartment unit plans through the comparative analysis of sustainable design guidelines, environmentally friendly building accreditation systems and literature survey in and abroad.

  • This research aims at proposing new space design model with eco-friendly material, paper, for sustainable life mode. As pro-natural paper which is feasible for secondary processing in interior design, it's significance lies in its easy adaptability to nature and depreciation of environment pollution. The target space which needs alterability is designed with corrugated paper as its eco-friendly and changeable features as corrugated paper made out of wood pulp would return to nature after decomposition. If the material will be recycling, reuseable, and renewable which are eco-friendly and durable, then sustainable space design would be created.

  • Different countries create their own green building rating system to be in line with sustainable development as a response to the urgent call for solution for Climate Change and degradation of the environment due to rapid population growth and economic development. This study conducts a critical review on the Philippine national voluntary green building rating system, BERDE, in comparison with South Korea's national voluntary green building rating system, G-SEED and U.S. rating system LEED. Their categories, building types assessed, and assessment methods were compared side by side to seek better practice(s) for green building rating assessment for Philippine green building projects.

Such as complex culture shopping facility was developed to most subway station area center and have concept that is space for a main facilities or space for environment protection, citizens' a rest in city. Howeve,r space of recently domestic large size complex culture shopping facility that do not plan systematically was lacking and caused result that do not use efficiently space. Limited extent of research that define complex culture shopping equipment and analyze form of space and present space planning with analysis of research connected with complex usage development.

  • California's heartland, the Great Central Valley, is one of the most productive agricultural regions in the world. However for many years the valley has been struggling with a broad range of social, economic, and environmental challenges. Some significant concerns include water resources, air pollution, poverty rates, housing issues, etc. Another strike against the valley is the relative reluctance to embrace widespread sustainable building practices. This paper discusses the long-term and profound impact of the built environment has on the aforementioned socioeconomic and environmental issues facing the valley. It reviews exemplary practices in other states and regions regarding policy-making and regulation in the building industry as well as sustainable community development. The paper further explores viable options specifically for the Fresno metropolitan area (the largest in the Central Valley) to combat its unique multifaceted challenges.

  • With the recent global trends in environmental preservation, the importance of sustainable construction is being highlighted in Korea. In particular, the trend is being discussed about life cycle of the apartment houses in various aspects. However the Korean construction market and housing policy have been increasingly focusing on supplier. Structures become progressively obsolete after a certain period, but their durability can be extended with proper maintenance management. Accordingly, if maintenance management on the structures is made efficiently, waste of construction energy and damage to the environment and economic loss due to early demolition and reconstruction can be effectively prevented. Therefore, this study aims to suggest the user manual design for the efficient maintenance in apartment housing

  • This study examines many preceding studies on school space, including the high school credit system, and attempts to present the importance after deriving the most appropriate factors when constructing an educational environment of the high school credit system. Based on the derived importance level, the purpose of this study was to provide information that is helpful for the implementation of the educational environment of the high school credit system in each school and to establish and present a model from an academic perspective by deriving the importance of the educational environment according to the high school credit system. As a research method, the importance of the educational environment was analyzed through the Analytic Hierarchy Process. The result of the analysis indicated that it is necessary to consider the interrelationship between the educational curriculum and the educational environment, which selectively and intensively performs functions and maximizes the effect according to the strategic importance of the educational environment.

  • This study is the result of analyzing the distribution of 129 Saemies discovered based on field research conducted from September 2021 to June 2023 in the Sacheon alluvial fan area through ethnoscience and niche theory. The researcher viewed the Sacheon alluvial fan area as a suitable location for irrigation where both traditional and modern hydraulic facilities are used, and the cultural and ecological study of 'Saemi', a traditional irrigation facility that attracts attention for its public value for the ecological environment according to the sustainable paradigm. By revealing its competitiveness, we aimed to contribute to finding ways to sustainably conserve and utilize Saemi. As a result of the study, Saemi is confirmed to be a competitive water facility in terms of cultural and ecological quality, considering the direction of the times and the sustainable development. If environment-friendly agricultural technology is applied to traditional water treatment facilities in the context of sustainable agriculture, it is expected that synergy will be created in productivity, public interest, and sustainability.
