  • The water resources sustainability is becoming an important issue in consideration of hydrologic uncertainty by global warming and climate change. This study is to assess the water supply performance for the major multipurpose dams using sustainability index. Parameters, mostly utilized in water resources system assessment, are selected in respect of applicability and flexibility, and those parameters are used as a variable of the composite index. In practice, the composite index including reliability, resiliency, vulnerability and maximum deficit are applied to 15 multipurpose dams and 4 major basins. And to conclude, Daechungdam in the Geum river basin and Imhadam, Hapchondam and Namgangdam in the Nakdong river basin show low sustainability comparing with other dams. The Nakdong river basin needs to develop alternatives to improve water supply stability because it indicates the most poor sustainability level.

  • The environmental problems aren't only restricted in single area or country, but also related in all around the world. Various approaches have been tried to protect and utilize properly the environment. Especially, building area has been attempted to provide the model which could explain the degree of environmental influence and technology development criteria to lessen the environmental impact in building life cycle. The environmental impact in the building life cycle can be overally explained with sustainability. Sustainability can be utilized to establish the target level of building to environmental influence. This paper aimed at extracting items to evaluate the building sustainability, divided into social, economic and environmental aspects. First, 93-items is extracted from 3 areas through existing literature review. Second, the 93-items would be controlled and reviewed into 21 items, which are five social aspect items, two economic aspect items and twelve environmental items, because 93 items can not properly be applied and evaluated. And, it provided the model to combine the extracted items of each area. In social aspect, the outdoor noise is more affect than any other items. In environmental aspect, the item of surface-to-volume is more affect than any other items.

  • Using a qualitative method, this paper described briefly the well-being-oriented consumers consciousness toward sustainability concept. The paper identified the major obstacles facing well-being society as evidenced by consumers own experiences for consuming products which are meet the necessity for environmental preservation. Over seventy percent of respondents who had a experience consuming the sustainable products said that they consumed it for themselves and their family's health of all things. Beside their interests about health, they made mention of the safety of sustainable products, high quality of sustainable products, to preserve our environment, confidence in sustainable products, encouragement from others, and curiosity for sustainable products. The respondents who did not consume the sustainable products argued that high price of sustainable products, genuineness of sustainable products, lack of information about sustainable products, unconcern about sustainable products, and difficulty to access to sustainable products were not allowed them from consuming the sustainable products.

  • This is a study about public-regeneration-architecture design of the 3rd world damaged by the development of capital society of the 20th century and from the perspective of economically poor, anti-capitalist development from non-profit design organization. Active among such non-profit design organizations, the sustainable design characteristics of public-regeneration-architecture of the Architecture for Humanity will be discussed. I help it so as a continuous possibility design to have been given to public-regeneration-architecture of the Architecture for Humanity is small, and I establish a construction space at a few costs to people in a situation to be environmentally interior economic, to be cultural, and I am large, and to be able to generate profitable construction by environment at activation of a local community and worldwide dimensions. I look through a sustainable design way of this study classifies it to cultural sustainability that ecology-cultural approach in the environmental sustainability result ecology - central approach, and how I was applied to materials of construction, color, a pattern, a construction method, space configuration etc. There is the meaning to try to analyze a characteristic of a sustainable design to have appeared to public-regeneration-architecture of the Architecture for Humanity which I make a symbiosis, and you can live on it how in the present cities that city poor floor will add to.

  • Over the past decades, the Jordanian government has made great efforts to help poor women start small businesses by providing microcredit and facilitating financial services. Although in Jordan almost hundreds of thousands of women have the ability to contribute more fully to their economy, they are reluctant to do so. Women's participation in economic activities in 2016 was only 13.2%, while the unemployment rate for Jordanian women was 24.1%. The decline in women's participation in small business management has gradually become an important issue following the trial of more than 13,000 Jordanian women for non-payment of their micro-loans. This study aims to identify the factors that hinder Jordanian women from achieving job stability. In this qualitative study, a semi-structured interview method with sixteen open-ended questions was used to collect relevant data. A purposeful sampling method is also used to select participants. To analyze the data, this study used NVivo 11 software as a method. Using System Theory, this study showed that women's failure depends on three factors: women entrepreneurs, the environment around women entrepreneurs, and micro-financial institutions. Findings of this study suggest that strengthen women's entrepreneurship sustainability and minimize the risk of failure should be done through integrated strategies include these three domains.

  • The objective of the study is to examine the relationship between water resources, energy demand, food production, and environmental pollutants in selected SAARC nations, namely, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, during the period of 1990-2016. The results show that water, energy, and food (WEF) resources substantially affected air quality in the form of high mass carbon emissions, fossil fuel energy demand, methane discharges, nitrous oxide emissions, and greenhouse gas emissions in these countries. Food production and food deficit largely increase $CO_2$ emissions due to unsustainable production and malnutrition, while land use under cereal production increases $CH_4$ and $N_2O$ emissions. Electricity production escalates $CO_2$ emissions and fossil emissions across countries. The results support the carbon EKC hypothesis, while monotonic increasing function exists in case of fossil fuel energy. The study emphasizes the need to ensure environmental sustainability agenda by adopting cleaner production technologies in WEF resources.

  • Global climate changes affect the local hydrologic cycle, and subsequently, require changes in water resource management strategies of Korea. Variations in precipitation and urbanization have adverse effects on the reasonable and efficient utilization of groundwater resources. Groundwater management strategies of Korea have been implemented based on the evaluation of "sustainable yield", which is calculated from the amount of annual recharge. However, this sustainable yield has no consideration of natural discharge and dynamic equilibrium of the groundwater system. Therefore, for the effective groundwater management strategies of the following decades, we need representative and reliable observations, and have to develop methods for the systematic analysis and interpretations of the data to draw valid information in linkage of natural and societal environmental changes.

  • A review on the technical development and agricultural policy direction for sustainable agriculture has been made to clarify the present conditions of agricultural environment for food production and natural resource conservation and to study prospects and solutions successfully to achieve food safety and environment conservation as the 21st agricultural paradigm. Although great improvement of environmentally sound and resource-conserving techniques, sustainability of Korean agriculture has been damaged by quantitative reduction and quality deterioration of agricultural land resources, insufficient implementation of low-input and organic matter recycling techniques and also improper cropping system. It is concluded that goal of sustainable agriculture can be successfully achieved by further improvement of environmentally friendly techniques, and stronger escalation of national implementation programmes with more financial supports including direct payments for sustainability of agriculture under systematical support and cooperation of AKS (agricultural knowledge system).
