무지 수근중수 관절염에 대한 현수 봉합 관절성형술의 결과 (Outcome of Suture Suspension Arthroplasty for Thumb Carpometacarpal Joint Arthritis)

  • 목적: 무지 수근중수 관절염(thumb carpometacarpal joint arthritis)에 대한 관절성형술로 대다각골을 제거한 후 중수골을 안정시키는 여러 방법이 소개되어 있다. 현수 봉합 관절성형술은 덜 침습적이면서 술식이 쉬운 장점이 있다. 본 연구는 무지 수근중수 관절염 환자에서 이 술식을 이용하여 수술한 결과를 알아보고자 한다. 방법: 무지 수근중수 관절염으로 진단받고 현수 봉합 관절성형술을 시행한 환자 12명을 대상으로 후향적으로 연구하였다. 시각통증척도, 수술만족도, DASH (disabilities of the arm, shoulder and hand) 점수를 조사하였고, 단순방사선 검사에서 대다각골 공간 비율을 계측하였다. 결과: 평균 추시 기간은 23개월이었다. 수술 전후 통증 점수는 7.0에서 2.9로 유의하게 감소하여 호전을 보였고 (p<0.05), 수술만족도는 평균 6.9였다. 그러나 수술 전후 DASH 점수는 유의한 차이가 없었다(p=0.06). 평균 대다각골 공간 비율은 수술 전 0.45, 수술 직후 0.33, 마지막 추시 시 0.23이었다. 결론: 현수 봉합 관절성형술은 수술 결과가 만족스럽고, 다른 술식과 비교하여 중수골 침강에 의한 대다각골 공간의 감소도 큰 차이가 없어 진행된 무지 수근중수 관절염 환자에서 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것으로 생각한다.

Effective Multiplication of Somatic Embryos Using Suspension Culture and Regeneration in Soybean

  • The use of liquid-medium-based procedure relative to the solid media led to a 4.5-fold increase in the number of cotyledon-stage embryos. The most efficient system for multiplication and regeneration of somatic embryos was CP6 procedure with the media MSD40/MSD20/MSM6AC/FNL0S3S3GM. However, the rate of regeneration was lower. About 71% of the embryos with dicotyledon were continued to develop the roots after desiccation treatment and 92% of the germinated embryos produced shoots in 10 days. Of the four morphologically different types of embryos, dicotyledonous ones showed a high frequency of conversion, while only a few with fused and horn type cotyledon developed shoots. Mature somatic embryos were desiccated in empty petri dishes for 12-72 h. Embryo survival rate was the highest after 12 h of desiccation, but maximal germination was observed at 24 h. After desiccation, they were placed on MS medium without growth regulators for germination. Germinating embryos were transferred to small pots with vermiculite for plant regeneration. The etiolating the plants during the growth was resolved to add 1% activated charcoal on hormone-free MS medium.

Dynamic assessment of a FRP suspension footbridge through field testing and finite element modelling

  • The use of advanced fibre composite materials in bridge engineering offers alternative solutions to structural problems compared to traditional construction materials. Advanced composite or fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) materials have high strength to weight ratios, which can be especially beneficial where dead load or material handling considerations govern a design. However, the reduced weight and stiffness of FRP footbridges results in generally poorer dynamic performance, and vibration serviceability is likely to govern their design to avoid the footbridge being "too lively". This study investigates the dynamic behaviour of the 51.3 m span Wilcott FRP suspension footbridge. The assessment is performed through a combination of field testing and finite element analysis, and the measured performance of the bridge is being used to calibrate the model through an updating procedure. The resulting updated model allowed detailed interpretation of the results. It showed that non-structural members such as the parapets can influence the dynamic behaviour of slender, lightweight footbridges, and consequently their contribution must be included during the dynamic assessment of a structure. The test data showed that the FRP footbridge is prone to pedestrian induced vibrations, although the measured response levels were lower than limits specified in relevant standards.

A Study on the Body Attachment Stiffness for the Road Noise

  • The ride and noise characteristics of a vehicle are significantly affected by the vibration transferred to the body through the chassis mounting points in the engine and suspension. It is known that body attachment stiffness is an important factor of idle noise and road noise for NVH performance improvement. The body attachment stiffness serves as a route design aimed at isolating the vibration generated inside the car due to the exciting force of the engine or road. The test result of the body attachment stiffness is shown in the FRF curve data; the stiffness level and sensitive frequency band are recorded by the data distribution. The stiffness data is used for analyzing the parts that fail to meet the target stiffness at a pertinent frequency band. The analysis shows that the target frequency band is between 200 and 500 Hz. As a result of the comparison in a mounted suspension, the analysis data is comparable to the test data. From these results, there is a general agreement between the predicted and measured responses. This procedure makes it possible to find the weak points before a proto car is produced, and to suggest proper design guidelines in order to improve the stiffness of the body structure.

The vertical orbicularis oculi muscle turn-over procedure for the correction of paralytic ectropion of the lower eyelid

  • Background Static reconstruction surgery that tightens the tension of the inferior tarsus, thereby raising the lax lower eyelid, is a common treatment for paralytic ectropion of the lower eyelid. We present one such operative procedure, in which an orbicularis oculi muscle flap was used. Methods The surgical technique involves partial resection of the tarsus and the skin, as well as a superior-based orbicularis oculi muscle flap that is sutured to the firm tissue present on the Whitnall tubercle. The muscle flap is approximately 7 mm in width and 15 mm in length, with a superior pedicle that is attached to the tarsus at the medial point of the resected tarsus. The procedure results in contact between the ocular surface and the lower eyelid. Results The procedure was performed in 11 patients with lower eyelid ectropion due to facial paralysis. Ten cases showed a favorable outcome following surgery, with stable results seen over an average follow-up period of 4.5 years. In one case, recurrence of ectropion was observed 2 months after surgery due to an insufficient correction, and the patient required repeat surgery. Conclusions The orbicularis oculi muscle flap was an effective means of suspension and was able to maintain long-term traction tension. This procedure can therefore be considered a favorable treatment option for lower eyelid ectropion due to facial paralysis.

만성스트레스로 유발된 우울증 동물모델에서 오미자 물 추출물의 항우울 효과 (Antidepressant-like Effects of Schisandra chinensis Baillon Water Extract on Animal Model Induced by Chronic Mild Stress)

  • Depression is one of the most common neuropsychiatric disorders and has been associated with the neuroendocrine system and alterations in behavior. Schisandra chinensis Baillon is one of major medicinal plants used as a Korea medicine and food sources, and has been processed in the fields of various food products and medicinal herbs. The chronic mild stress (CMS) protocol is widely used to evoke depressive-like behaviors in laboratory mice or rat. The CMS procedure induced some behavioral changes that are compatible with the common expectations, i.e. 'anhedonic' behavior and can affect corticosterone level. The present study, Schisandra chinensis extract administration by daily gavage from the 3 weeks exhibited an antidepressant-like effect on CMS-induced depression in mice. Schisandra chinensis extract administration at dose of 200mg/kg significantly increased the sucrose consumption, and decreased the immobility durations in forced swim test and tail suspension test. Furthermore the corticosterone level decreased than control group. In conclusion, Schisandra chinensis extract showed antidepressant-like effects on sucrose preference test, forced swimming test and tail suspension test based on CMS model.

신규 일반 최상위 도메인의 도입과 통일신속정지제도(URS)에 대한 연구 (New gTLD Program: Uniform Rapid Suspension System and Trademark Clearinghouse)

  • Recently, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) announced the expansion of the number of generic top-level domains (gTLDs) beyond the current 22 gTLDs, and the gTLD Applicant Guidebook for ICANN's new gTLD program is now under consideration for approval. ICANN also introduces a "Trademark Clearinghouse" and the "Uniform Rapid Suspension (URS)" procedure to protect trademarks and expedite dispute resolution and save costs. The Trademark Clearinghouse is a central repository for information to be authenticated, stored and disseminated, pertaining to the rights of the trademark holders. Trademark holders would voluntarily provide data of their trademarks from all over the world, and it would assist a trademark watch service provided by the new gTLD registry for trademark holders and potential domain name registrants. The URS is a part of the new gTLD dispute resolution mechanisms created by ICANN to resolve cybersquatting disputes. A complainant in a URS proceeding must establish three elements that are very similar to the existing UDRP to succeed, but supposedly more expedited and cost efficient. Since the URS provides that it only protects court validated and registered trademarks, it is not clear whether unregistered marks used in commerce are protected under the URS. The URS escalates the complainant's burden of proof from a preponderance of evidence standard under the UDRP to a clear and convincing evidence standard. The notices to a respondent shall be sufficient if the URS Provider sends the notice of Complaint to the addresses listed in the Whois contact information. As registrants who wish to conceal their true identity often subscribe to the privacy/proxy service and the complainant's high rate of success in the UDRP proceeding is relevant to the respondents' default rate, the URS's simple notice requirement would deprive respondents of a fair opportunity to assert their rights over the disputed domain names.

랜덤풍하중에 대한 현수교의 기하학적 비선형 거동의 동적해석 (Dynamic Analysis of Geometric Nonlinear Behavior of Suspension Bridges under Random Wind Loads)

  • 랜덤풍하중을 받는 현수교의 비선형 동적거동 해석방법에 대해 연구하였다. 본 연구에서는 형의 거동과 주(主) 케이블 장력변화간의 상호작용에 기인하는 기하학적 비선형성을 고려하였다. 운동방정식은 연속계로 수식화하였고, 이때 수직 및 비틀림 운동의 상관관계를 포함시켰다. 동적해석은 모우드 중첩법을 사용하였으며, 이때의 모우드 방정식에 추계론적 선형화방법을 적용하여 주파수영역해석을 수행하였다. 선형화과정에서는, 풍속의 평균 및 변동성분의 영향을 함께 고려하기 위하여 비선형항을 선형항과 상수항의 합으로써 근사화하였다. 이 선형화방법에 대한 검증은 4자유도의 모우드 방정식에 대해 수행하였으며, 본 연구의 방법에 의한 결과가 타당함을 보였다. 예제해석은 두 개의 현수교를 택하여 여러 가지 풍속조건 및 공기역학적 하중계수에 대해 수행하였다. 수치해석 결과, 비선형항을 포함시켰을때 교량의 동적 거동은, 수직 거동의 경우 특히 크게 변화함을 알 수 있었다.

벼의 원형질체 배양과 식물체 재분화 (Protoplast Culture and Plant Regeneration of Rice)

  • 약배양을 통해 유도된 벼의 품종 Zhonghua 8의 종자로부터 배발생 캘러스를 유기한 캘러스로부터 현탁배양을 실시하였다. 원형질체 분리 는 이러한 현탁배양된 캘러스를 사용하였으며, 일반적으로, 오래되고 미세한 현탁배양세포를 사용했을 때 어린 현탁배양세포보다 원형질체 나출율이 증가되었다. 원형질체는 feeder cell 없이 agarose embedding 방법에 의해 0.5 mg $l^{01}$ 2,4-D, 1.0mg $l^{-1}$ NAA와 0.5 mg $l^{-1}$zeatin이 첨가된 KPR 배지에서 배양하였을 때 세포분열이 일어났으며 microcalli가 형성되었다. 원형질체의 plating 효율은 0.20~0.54% 범위로 나타났으며, 원형질체로부터 유도된 microcalli는 식물체 재분화를 위해 2.0 mg $l^{-1}$ kinetin과 0.5 mg $l^{-1}$ NAA가 첨가된 MS 배지에 옮겨 주었다 실물체 재분화 빈도는 현탁배양의 line에 따라 2~l2%였다. 원형질체로부터 재분화된 식물체들은 온실에서 종자를 맺었다었다

현탁배양을 통한 금낭화(Dicentra spectabilis L. Lemaire)의 대량증식 (Mass Propagation of Dicentra spectabilis L. Lemaire Through In vitro Suspension Culture)

  • 금낭화 (Dicentra spectabilis L.)는 개발가치가 있는 국내 자생화 중의 하나로서 우수한 품종의 대량생산이 절실히 요구되는 실정이다. 본 연구는 현탁배양을 통한 배발생세포의 대량증식과 체세포배 발생 및 식물체재생의 적정조건을 구명하여 효율적인 기내묘목의 대량생산 체계를 확립하고자 시도되었다. 1.0mg/L 2,4-D SH고체배지에서 유도된 배발생캘러스를 현탁배지에서 증식시킨 결과, 1.0mg/L 2,4-D를 포함한 SH배지에서 MS배지에 비해 증식율이 높게 나타났으며, 체세포배 발생율은 1/2배 SH기본배지에서 가장 높게 나타났다. 250$m\ell$ 삼각플라스크에서 5,000개 이상의 고빈도로 체세포배가 생산되었다. 체세포배로부터 발아유도시에 GA$_3$는 정상적인 식물체로의 재생을 억제하는 효과를 나타내었으며, 정상적인 식물체 재생은 1/2희석 SH배지에서 양호하였다, 신초와 뿌리를 갖는 유식물체를 모래와 원예용상토(5:1, vol)가 혼합된 토양이 함유된 포트에 이식하여 1개월 후 58%의 생존율을 나타내었다. 이상의 결과를 활용하면 체세포배로부터 금낭화의 묘목을 대량생산 할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.
