Recently, almost all hard disk drives employ the rotary actuator system. The performance of an HDD depends on the accuracy and speed of tracking motion. We study the dynamics of head-suspension assembly during track seek. We develop the numerical analysis program to study the dynamic characteristics of HDD suspension system considering the air bearing effects. The track seek simulation by using the developed program helps to estimate the effect of the suspension vibration on the air bearing dynamics. We calculate the behaviour of the air bearing for the given track seek profile and calculate the positioning error during track seek process due to the lateral deflection of the suspension.
Generally, the forming process of suspension system parts have been considered only considered with the formability and have not been considered with the durability of suspension system. But the durability of suspension system is very important characteristic for the dynamic performance of vehicle. Therefore, the suspension system should be manufactured to consider the durability as well as the formability. This paper is about an optimum forming process design with the effect of section properties to consider the roll durability of torsion beam type suspension. In order to determine the tube hydroforming process for the satisfaction the roll durability, the stamping and hydroforming simulation by finite element method were performed. And the results from finite element analysis and roll durability examination showed the tube hydroforming process of torsion beam is optimized as satisfying the durability performance.

Using computer in design is a trend in recent years. A good suspension model is depend on the carefully prepared data like joint connection points or spring stiffness, etc. Once a good computer model is obtained, a parametric study for spciffic suspension design factor, like a toe angle, can be done to obtain sensitivity information. Using this information, several important design parameters for a specific design factor can be identified. Once a design of experiments is done using computer models, the results can be used to approximate a function which can best represent the experimentation. An optimum solution of this function can be used to find an optimum design of a suspension system for a specific suspension design factor. Same method is again applied to other design factors iteratively until a good suspension system design is obtained.

A general procedure is presented here to develope seismic design and analysis method for cable-supported bridges like suspension bridges subjected to ground motion. For representing a numerical model of suspension bridges. a new approach which satisfy design conditions for the initial equilibrium state of suspension bridges. without any nonlinear iterations. is proposed. The dynamic behavior of that model is verified by free vibration analysis. This study uses the response spectrum analysis to determine the Peak response of a suspension bridge to earthquake-induced ground motion. The SRSS(Square Root of Sum of Square). modal combination rule, is adopted for each direction, longitudinal and transverse. To illustrate the potential applicability for the seismic design of suspension bridges, a numerical example is presented in which the dynamic response of the Nam-hae suspension bridge subjected to earthquake
Viscosity and zeta-potential of 11.0 wt. % aqueous bentonite suspension containing various electrolytes and hydrogen-ion concentration were measured by using a Couette type automatic rotational viscometer and Zeta Meter, respectively. The effects of pH and elcctrolytes on the rheological properties of the suspension were investigated. A system, which has a large zeta-potcntial, has a small intrinsic relaxation time ${\beta}$ and a small intrinsic shear modulus $1/{\alpha}$ in the Ree-Eyring generalized viscosity equation, i.e., such a system has a small viscosity value, since ${\eta}={\beta}/{\alpha}$. In general, a stable suspension system has large zeta-potential. The stability condition of clay-water suspension can be estimated by viscometric method since stable suspension generally has small viscosity. The correlation between the stability, viscosity and zeta-potential has been explained by the Ree-Eyring theory of viscous flow.
For comparison with conventional barium-gastrointestinal study, modified method using barium and methylcellulose was performed in 16 normal dogs (4-8 kg) divided into two groups. The group 1 received 8ml/kg of 40% w/v barium suspension only, and group 2 had taken 15 ml/kg of 0.6% w/v methylcellulose after administration 4 ml/kg of 40% w/v barium suspension by feeding tube. The barium suspension was prepared mixing full strength-barium suspension with water and methylcellulose solution was produced by blending methylcellulose sterilized water Sequential radiographs, lateral and ventrodorsal projections were obtained at 5 minute, 20 minute,40 minute. 60 minute and every 30 minutes thereafter, until the contrast is seen in the large intestine Inage qual- ity was rated by three veterinary radiologists as " poor" " fair ". "good", or "excellent" We analyzed the relationship between image quality,, transit time. Between two techniques, the modified method with 4ml of 40% w/v barium suspension and 15 ml of 0.6% w/v methylcellulose showed much better image quality ["excellent" result in 7 of the 8 subjects (88%)] and shorter transit time (107 minutes) toe the cecum. In addition, the best image quality was obtained at 20 and 40 minutes after admin-istration of contrast agent. It call be concluded the modified gastrointestinal study using methylcel-lulose after administration of barium suspension was a simple technique and easily improved the image quality and diagnostic accuracy of gstrointestinal disorders in small animal.racy of gstrointestinal disorders in small animal.

With the gradual implementation of long-span suspension bridges into high-speed railway operations, the main beam's bending stiffness contribution to the live load response permanently grows. Since another critical control parameter of railway suspension bridges is the beam-end rotation angle, it should not be ignored by treating the main beam deflection as the only deformation response. To this end, the current study refines the existing method of the main cable shape and simply supported beam bending moment analogy. The bending stiffness of the main beam is considered, and the main beam's analytical expressions of deflection and rotation angle in the whole span are obtained using the cable-beam deformation coordination relationship. Taking a railway suspension bridge as an example, the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed analytical method are verified by the finite element method (FEM). Comparison of the results by FEM and the analytical method ignoring the main beam stiffness revealed that the bending stiffness of the main beam strongly contributed to the live load response. Under the same live load, as the main beam stiffness increases, the overall deformation of the structure decreases, and the reduction is particularly noticeable at locations with original larger deformations. When the main beam stiffness is increased to a certain extent, the stiffening effect is no longer pronounced.

Kinematic design sensitivity analysis for vehicle in suspension systems design is performed. Suspension systems are modeled using composite joins to reduce the number of the constraint equations. This allows a semi-analytical approach that is computerized symbolic manipulation before numerical computations and that may compensate for their drawbacks. All the constraint equations including design variables are derived in symbolic equations for sensitivity analysis. By directly differentiating the equations with respect to design variables, sensitivity equations are obtained. Since the proposed method only requires the hard point data, sensitivity analysis is possible in suspension design stage.
This work was intended to determine the optimum values of the cab suspension parameters by a simulation method in order to minimize the seat accelerations of agricultural tractors in the frequencies lower than 50Hz. A dynamic model of cab motions was developed and verified using a tractor excited over half-sine bumps on a concrete test road. A simulation program based on the model was also developed. A method was proposed to determine the optimum values of the suspension parameters. It was found that the natural frequencies of the cab and seat suspensions must be apart as far as possible until the sum of seat and cab accelerations is minimized, which also reduces the seat accelerations maximally.

This paper presents a method to design a controller for active suspension with 1-DOF decoupled models. Three 1-DOF decoupled models describing vertical, roll and pitch motions are used to design a controller in order to generate a vertical force, roll and pitch moments, respectively. These control inputs are converted into active suspension forces with geometric relationship. To design a controller, a sliding mode control is adopted. Frequency domain analysis and simulation on vehicle simulation software, CarSim$^{(R)}$, show that the proposed method is effective for ride comfort.
