  • A gravitational weak-lensing map provides a weighted "picture" of the projected surface mass density and is to be an important tool for identifying "mass-selected" clusters of galaxies. However, weak-lensing maps have a limitation due to the projection of large-sclae structure along the line-of-sight. Geller et al. (2010) and Kurtz et al. (2012) compared massive clusters identified in a dense redshift survey with significant weak-lensing map convergence peaks. Both assessments of the efficiency of weak-lensing map for cluster identification did not draw a general conclusion, because the sample is so small. Thus, we additionally perform deep imaging observations of fields in a dense galaxy redshift survey that contain galaxy clusters at z~0.2-0.5, using CFHT Megacam. Our study will provide an important opportunity to examine the efficiency and completeness of a weak-lensing selection, and further to improve the method of cluster identification in future weak-lensing surveys.

  • We investigate the constraints on the matter density ${\Omega}m$ and the cosmological constant ${\Omega}{\Lambda}$ using the gravitational lensed QSO (Quasi Stellar Object) systems from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) by analyzing the distribution of image separation. The main sample consists of 16 QSO lens systems with measured source and lens redshifts. We use a lensing probability that is simply defined by the gaussian distribution. We perform the curvature test and the constraints on the cosmological parameters as the statistical tests. The statistical tests have considered well-defined selection effects and adopt parameter of velocity dispersion function. We also applied the same analysis to Monte-Carlo generated mock gravitational lens samples to assess the accuracy and limit of our approach. As the results of these statistical tests, we find that only the excessively positively curved universe (${\Omega}m+{\Omega}{\Lambda}$ > 1) are rejected at 95% confidence level. However, if the informations of the galaxy as play a lens are measured accurately, we confirm that the gravitational lensing statistics would be the most powerful tool.

  • To examine the role IM plays, We focus on the factors that promote or hinder communication within a Korean organization when instant messenger is used. These factors were examined through two research questions. To understand these issues, a survey consisting of 33 categories was given to government and corporate office workers in Seoul, Korea. The survey results showed that Instant Messenger is recognized as a powerful communication tool in official organizations, but is only used effectively within groups or generations that do not follow the hierarchical relationships characterized by Confucian values. The results of this study fill a gap in our understanding of the important role of IM use in organizational effectiveness and may prove useful when developing tools and strategies to help promote communication within organizations using information technology media.

  • Objectives : This study was conducted to examine the relationships between Korean adult's daily hours of sleep, depression, and suicidal thoughts using data from the 7th National Health and Nutrition Survey. Methods : This study utilized a depression screening tool, the 9-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), for the 6,355 participants of the health and mental health survey. T-tests, cross analysis, correlation analysis, and logistic regression analysis were used. Results : The results showed that sufficient hours of sleep decreased depression. The depression score for females (3.19) was significantly higher than for males (2.10; p<.001). The participants in the depression group slept less than 7 hours per day (p<.01). Conclusions : The study results showed a significant correlation between sleep duration and depression when health-related factors and social factors influencing sleep were controlled. The results also indicated that this correlation may vary based on gender. This study implies that further studies are necessary to identify the causal relationship between sleep duration and depression.

  • This paper presents a study on risk analysis in terms of contractor's costs in construction phase in which Crystal ball (software of Decisioneering, UK) has been utilized as a main tool. To realize it, a questionnaire survey has been carried out to identify the dominant factors that strongly influence contractor costs in Vietnam. Based on results of questionnaire investigation, the survey identified three factors which were duration of each construction task, costs of reinforcing steel, and cement. Then a spreadsheet model was created in order to analyze risks. The study also indicates that the cost of reinforcing steel and cement are the cause of risks for contractors. According to the suggested model, contractors may foresee the probability of completion within the approved budget, and the possibility of earning in accordance with owner's payment conditions.

  • Due to the differences between and distinct consumer perceptions of domestic and cross-border e-commerce (CBEC), e-consumer misconduct, which we call "cunning behavior," has emerged. This study examines cunning behavior in CBEC and compares e-consumer perceptions about environmental factors and their own personal traits using a vignette experiment and survey. The vignettes of this study were developed for three situations: illegal, deviant, and unethical behavior. Drawing on vignettes, we collected survey data and then examined the research model using the analysis of moment structure statistical tool. The results show that perceived benefit and past experience with CBEC are strong triggers for cunning behavior, while the ability to exercise self-control restrains this behavior. This study provides an understanding of why cunning behavior occurs in the CBEC context and describes different cunning behavior types.

  • The usage of virtual reality (VR) in healthcare field has been gaining attention lately. The main use cases revolve around medical imaging and clinical skill training. Healthcare professionals have found great benefits in these cases when done in VR. While medical imaging on the desktop has lots of available software with various tools, VR versions are mostly stripped-down with only basic tools. One of the many tool groups significantly missing is annotation. In this paper, we survey the current situation of medical imaging software both on the desktop and in the VR environment. We will discuss general information on medical imaging and provide examples of both desktop and VR applications. We will also discuss the current status of annotation in VR, the problems that need to be overcome and possible solutions for them. The findings of this paper should help developers of future medical image annotation tools in choosing which problem they want to tackle and possible methods. The findings will be used to help in our future work of developing annotation tools.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an assessment tool to evaluate student character competence in applying a Collaborative Problem-Solving Instruction Model in science education. Through the literature analysis, nine elements of character are extracted. They are: openness, empathy, tolerance, caring, integrity, self-regulation, honesty, responsibility, and cooperation. Based on these existing measures of character competence, experts discussed and developed items for evaluation of a student's character competence based on the Collaborative Problem-Solving Instruction Model. The first 88 preliminary items were investigated, corrected, and supplemented based on the results of the first survey. A second validity survey was conducted on 71 middle- and high school science teachers to determine the content validity of the items. Inter-rater reliability was calculated for the assessors to verify the reliability of the items. Overall, the inter-rater reliability and content validity of the assessment items are good with 53 items ultimately being selected based on the analysis results. The assessment tool developed in this study could be used to explore changes in student character competence through a Collaborative Problem-Solving Instruction Model, as well as to evaluate student character competence in science education.
