  • The connection channel for Saemangeum district is to link the lakes between Keumkang Lake and Saemangeum Lake and to dilute the polluted water flowing from Mankyung river, to accelerate desalinization in Saemangeum lake, and to satisfy the future demand of water around Saemangeum district. Therefore, this study is to investigate the surplus water in Keumgang Lake after supplying the current agricutural, life, and industrial water and to check the possibility to divert the surplus water to Saemangeum Lake

  • We consider a general compound Poisson risk model in which the premium rate is surplus dependent. We analyze the joint distribution of the surplus immediately before ruin, the deffcit at ruin and the time of ruin by solving the integro-differential equation for the Gerber-Shiu discounted penalty function.

  • To estimate the effects of lime and cement on the surplus soil, the engineering properties of the marine deposited clay and the fresh water clay were analyzed. The specimen were prepared under several curing conditions, namely, underwater curing, wet condition curing and underwater curing after heating. Unconfined compression strength were estimated after 7, 14, 28 and 60 days, respectively. The strength were steeply increased with time until first 14 days. Specially the increase of the strength of the heated soil were large.

  • In this paper, we study approximations of the ruin probability in a continuous time surplus process. First, we introduce the well-known approximation formulas of the ruin probability such as Cram$\acute{e}$r, Tijms' and De Vylder's methods. We, then, suggest new approximation formulas of two types, which improve the existing approximation formulas. One is Cram$\acute{e}$r and Tijms' type which makes use of the moment generating function of distribution of a claim size and the other is De Vylder's type which makes use of the surplus process with exponential claims. Finally, we compare, by illustrating numerical examples, the newly suggested approximation formulas with the existing approximation formulas of the ruin probability.

  • In this paper, several count data model of travel cost recreation demand with Poisson and negative binominal specification are applied to estimate the value of access to the estuary area of Yeongsan river from visitor survey data. The results show that the negative binomial model that accounts for truncation and overdispersion provides the better goodness-of-fit, and therefore the value per visit(i.e. consumer surplus) is 89,350 won for resident of Jeolla province and 432,526 won for that of other provinces. If don't correct overdispersion by relying on Poisson estimates, the consumer surplus will be underestimated. Whereas the consumer surplus will be overestimated unless correct truncation by using estimates of untruncated models. As a result, the truncated negative binomial model should be applied to estimate the travel demand and the consumer surplus per visit by using survey data from single site visitors.

  • Gaps between the upper edges of brassiere mold cups and the breasts are one of the most serious issues in realizing comfort wearing of commercial brassieres for small-breasted women. The surplus ease amounts causing the fit problem were measured from 3D wearing images of the small-breasted women's brassieres. The effect after the removing the surplus ease amounts from the upper edge of mold cup was approved by subjective wearing evaluation. Since the volume distribution of mold cup can also affect the wearing sensation of brassiere, the subjective wearing sensation was compared for two brassieres of different volume distributions, VL, of which volume was concentrated at the lower cup, and VC, which has the thickest part at the nipple. As the results, the suitable sensation for cup volume and the natural wearing silhouette could be accomplished by removing the surplus ease amounts from the upper edge of mold cup to reduce the gaps between brassieres and the breasts, which could be accomplished through an approach reducing the volume near the upper edge of mold brassiere cup and making the volume concentrated at the lower cup. These works provide a useful information on the design of the brassiere mold cups for small-breasted women. Moreover, modeling methods of 3D scan data and 3D printing technique for making more accurate mold cases used in this research can be helpful to develop and evaluate clothing products in future.

  • The climate and marketing system of raw milk in Taiwan create problems in balance feeding of protein and energy in lactating cows in Taiwan. Level of urea nitrogen both in bulk milk and serum reflects ruminal protein degradation and post-ruminal protein provision, whereas milk protein concentration responds to dietary energy intake and bacterial protein production in the rumen. Establishment of a range of reference standards in milk protein and urea nitrogen levels can be applied as a noninvasive economical feeding guide to monitor the balance of protein and energy intake. Standard reference levels of 3.0% milk protein and 11-17 mg/dL milk urea nitrogen (MUN) were established. Level of milk protein below 3.0% is regarded as indicating inadequate dietary energy whereas MUN below or above the range is regarded as a deficiency or surplus in dietary protein. Results from analysis of bulk a milk samples collected from 174 dairy herds over Taiwan showed that only one quarter (25.29%) of the herds received a balanced intake of protein and energy, 33.33% adequate protein with energy inadequate, 22.99% herds in protein surplus with energy inadequate, 10.35% herds in protein surplus with energy adequate, 4.6% protein deficiency with energy adequate, and 3.45% herds with both protein and energy inadequate. Energy inadequate herds accounted for 60% of the total dairy herds in Taiwan with 56% adequate, 38% surplus and 6% inadequate in protein. In comparing milk sampled from bulk milk on different seasons from Lee-Kang area in the southern Taiwan, the concentrations of milk fat and milk protein were significantly higher in the cool season (February) than in the warm season (August) (p<0.05), whereas the urea nitrogen in the milk was significantly lower in the cool season than in the warm season (p<0.05). This indicated that lactating cows had excess protein and/or inadequate energy intake in the warm season in this area. It appears that the major problem feeding in lactating cows is energy intake shortage, especially during the warm season in Taiwan.

  • This study aims to analyze economic impacts for changes in the oil cost of the anchovy boat seine fisheries in South Korea. As analytical approach, this study employs the exponential surplus production model to estimate the maximum sustainable yield and also utilizes the bioeconomic model to calculate changes in producer surplus of the anchovy boat seine fisheries under the open access responding to changes in the oil cost. As the result of analysis, increases in the oil cost due to prohibition of duty-free oil supply result in the negative impacts to the producer surplus of the anchovy boat seine fisheries in South Korea. However, increases in the oil cost of the anchovy boat seine fisheries lead voluntary exit to fishermen which can no more run their business. As a result, this study shows that fishing efforts of the anchovy boat seine fisheries reduce under the fishing efforts of the maximum sustainable yield ($F_{MSY}$) and stock of the anchovy increases.

  • Climatic water balance has been applied to obtain quantity of various hydrologic components. Hydrologic information is estimated by comparison between rainfall and evapotranspiration under complex terrain condition. Water deficit is defined as that subtraction of actual supply from climatic demand. The water deficit will occur, when monthly evapotranspiration exceed monthly rainfall. Contrary water surplus is defined as that surplus water after meeting the demand by plants. The water surplus will be occurred when monthly rainfall exceeds monthly evapotranspiration. Finally, the discrete moisture indices were calculated and mapped for the whole watershed to estimate dryness and wetness status using the climatic water balance approach. The result of this study can properly interpret the real drought and non drought. Based upon the results, it can be concluded that the climatic water balance model is useful to monitor water conditions for the watershed.

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate the economic value of the recreational sea fishing in the Yellow Sea using count data model. For estimating consumer surplus, we used several count data model of travel cost recreation demand such as a poisson model(PM), a negative binomial model(NBM), a truncated poisson model(TPM), and a truncated negative binomial model(TNBM). Model results show that there is no exist the over-dispersion problem and a NBM was statistically more suitable than the other models. All parameters estimated are statistically significant and theoretically valid. The NBM was applied to estimate the travel demand and consumer surplus. The consumer surplus pre trip was estimated to be 254,453won, total consumer surplus per person and per year 1,536,896won.
