We evaluated heat transfer characteristics of microscale wrinkles using a CFD (computational fluid dynamics) analysis. In order to verify the heat transfer effect of wrinkles having various shapes, we introduce wrinkling processes to generate few different shapes of wrinkles such as macroscale ($200{\sim}400{\mu}m$ width), microscale ($10{\sim}30{\mu}m$ width), and hierarchical (microscale on macroscale wrinkle) wrinkles, using repetitive-dividing-volume (RDV) method for single-shape of wrinkles and connected method of UV-weakly polymerization with thermal curing for hierarchical structure of winkles. The analysis results of simplified CFD model showed that heat flux on heated plate was changed by the shape of wrinkles on the plate. The increase in heat flux of about 2.6 times was achieved in the case where hierarchical wrinkle structure was used.
In this study, the mechanical properties related to the fabric appearance of well being functional bamboo knitted fabric before and after loess dyeing were evaluated. The mechanical properties of fabrics were measured by KES-F system, that is, shape retention, draping, wrinkle recovery, compression property, and surface properties, and total hand value of three types of knitted fabric, 100% bamboo, 100% cotton, and bamboo / cotton blend (60 / 40) were evaluated before and after loess dyeing. As a result, it was found that appearance density, shape retention, and drape coefficient of cotton knitted fabric were greater than those of bamboo knitted fabric. After loess dyeing, shape retention and drape coefficient, wrinkle recovery of bamboo knitted fabric improved and WC/C and MMD/SMD decreased. According to THV, the hand of bamboo/cotton blend knit is the best among three samples by compensation the weak properties of the two fiber. Therefore, loess dyeing seemed to be a good method for improving shape retention and hand value of 100% bamboo and bamboo blended fabric.
In sheet metal forming, since the surface area of workpiece is apparently larger than the volume of it, the surface condition of the sheet metal is much varied. The formability of sheet metal is decided by the forming limit and the macroscopic suface defect as like fracture and wrinkle, and microscopic asponent, The factors affected in forming limit are stain herdening exponent, strain-rate scnsitivity exponent, anisotropic coefficient. The increasing of surface roughness is decresed the forming limit curve. It is known that the greater plastic deformation the more surface roughness by Kienzle, Osadaka. The purpose of this study is to investigate the influences of surface roughness in a uniaxial tension and the traperzoidal-shaped box drawing.
Background: A leaf cuticle has different structures and functions as a barrier to water loss and as protection from various environmental stressors. Methods: Leaves of Panax ginseng were examined by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy to investigate the characteristics and development of the epicuticular structure. Results: Along the epidermal wall surface, the uniformly protuberant fine structure was on the adaxial surface of the cuticle. This epicuticular structure was highly wrinkled and radially extended to the marginal region of epidermal cells. The cuticle at the protuberant positions maintained the same thickness. The density of the wall matrix under the structures was also similar to that of the other wall region. By contrast, none of this structure was distributed on the abaxial surface, except in the region of the stoma. During the early developmental phase of the epicuticular structure, small vesicles appeared on wallecuticle interface in the peripheral wall of epidermal cells. Some electron-opaque vesicles adjacent to the cuticle were fused and formed the cuticle layer, whereas electron-translucent vesicles contacted each other and progressively increased in size within the epidermal wall. Conclusion: The outwardly projected cuticle and epidermal cell wall (i.e., an epicuticular wrinkle) acts as a major barrier to block out sunlight in ginseng leaves. The small vesicles in the peripheral region of epidermal cells may suppress the cuticle and parts of epidermal wall, push it upward, and consequently contribute to the formation of the epicuticular structure.
UV irradiation causes skin-aging involving coarse wrinkles, thickening, dyspigmentation, and rough skin surface. This study was carried out to develop health & functional food by using Korean red ginsneg and Fagopyrum esculentum extract mixture (RGFE) for prevention of skin wrinkles. The RGFE-treated group showed the more effective collagenase inhibition rate than the red ginseng (RG)-treated group. To investigate photo protective effects of RGFE on UV-induced damaged skin, SKH hairless male mice were orally administerd RGFE and regional treatment and irradiated with UV for up to 8 weeks. In RGFE-treated group, better skin, and less wrinkle formation were observed compared with UV group. Epidermal thickness of hairless mouse was significantly decreased in RGFE, RG, and Fagopyrum esculentum (FE) groups compared with UV group. These results demonstrate RGFE have photo-protective effects on UV-damaged hairless mouse skin.
This paper concerns the die face design for a heat protect panel aided by the finite element forming analysis in order to eliminate the surface defect and to improve the surface quality. The CAE procedure of the stamping process is introduced in order to reveal the reason of surface inferiorities and to improve surface quality. Complicated shape of the product induces the surface inferiorities such as wrinkling due to the insufficient restraining force of the forming blank and the non-uniform contact of the blank with the tools. This paper proposes a new guideline for the die design which includes the modification of tool shapes and addition of the draw-beads on the tool surface for ensuring the increased the restraining force with the uniform contact condition. The effectiveness of the proposed design is verified by the forming analysis and is confirmed by the tryout operation in the press shop. The analysis and test results show that the modified process parameters such as tool shapes and draw-beads can reduce the tendency of wrinkling and improve surface quality.
A purpose of this research is to prove unknown relation -ship between finish bath pH and crosslinking. In pursuit of these goals, we have treated 100% cotton broad cloth with PTCA and BTCA at different pH values. They were used with H$_{3}$PO$_{4}$, NaH$_{2}$PO$_{2}$, NaH$_{2}$PO$_{4}$, Na$_{2}$HPO$_{4}$, Na$_{3}$PO$_{4}$, catalysts to produce nonformaldehyde fabrics finishes. Treatments were applied to all cotton fabrics using a parletry-cure process. For the fully understood on the relationship of finish bath pH effect and cotton cellulose esterification, the relative concentrations of chemical species were calculated from ionization constants. The effect of pH on the cotton cellulose ester was investigated using Fourier transform infrared spectra, the surface area measurement by BET method and wrinkle recovery analysis. Results of differential FT-IR spectra and their relative concentration analysis were compared with those of catalyst treated controls. FT-IR and wrinkle recovery data indicated that the esterfication by polycarboxylic acids is pridependent. A similar phenomenon also occurred when a phosphate or hypophosphite was used. Therefore, it is necessary to choose the optimum pH range of a finishing bath in order to achieve the most effective esterification.
As the demands for lightweight construction and precision grow, there is an increasing interest on hydroforming technology. This paper deals with designing automobile subframe for applying welded blanks hydroforming. In applying welded blanks hydroforming to automobile subframe, it is a serious problem that blanks wrinkle in deformed shape. To suppress wrinklings in blanks, the sections of the die where blanks wrinkled is modified. In addition to this, it is intended that the sum of thickness variation about wrinkling regions be minimized. For this purpose, parameters for influencing formability are selected and evaluated using orthogonal array. Among these parameters, parameters having a major effect on formability are selected again. Using CCD(central composite design) with the selected parameters, response surface is build up and optimal design is performed.
