  • Under the condition of femtosecond impulsive nonlinear optical irradiation, the bright and narrowed blue emission of silicon nanocrystal was observed. This synthetic method produced very small (~ 4 nm) oxide-capped silicon nanocrystal having probably ultra small emitting core (~ 1 nm) inferred from luminescence. By controlling the stirring condition, very high efficiencies of luminescence ( 4 fold higher) were obtained compared with the other conventional femtosecond laser fragmentation methods, which was attributed to the differences in hydration shell structure during the femtosecond laser induced irreversible phase transition reaction. When we properly adjusted the irradiation times of the white light continuum and stirring condition, very homogeneous luminescent silicon nanocrystal bands having relatively sharp lineshape were obtained, which can be attributable to the luminescent core site isolated and free from the surface defects.

  • Calcium aluminosulfate (3CaO.3Al$_2$O$_3$.CaSO$_4$or $C_4$A$_3$S) was prepared by chemical synthesis from the nitrate salts and aluminum sulfate. $C_4$A$_3$S was the main phase after calcination at 110$0^{\circ}C$. The specific surface areas after calcination at 110$0^{\circ}C$ and 130$0^{\circ}C$ were about 2.5 and 1.0 $m^2$/g, respectively. Hydration was investigated by XRD, DSC, SEM, EDS, conduction calorimetry and analysis of the liquid phase. Calorimetry showed that the induction period was longer than that of a sample prepared by conventional solid state sintering and this was attributed to the formation of amorphous coatings in abundance of $Al_2$O$_3$ and SO$_3$. Crystalline hydration products, principally calcium monosulfoaluminate hydrate and Al(OH)$_3$, appeared subsequently.

  • Large area members such as foundation concrete of underground structures in power plants have an effect on structural stability and durability of the structure due to danger of crack occurrence and shrinkage crack that occur owing to the difference of temperature by heat of hydration between inside and outside of the members at initial age. And a construction for waterproofness is performed additionally to protect marine structures from osmosis of seawater because the structures adjoin below the surface of sea. So, if a rise of the heat of hydration, crack, and corrosion of bars are controled effectively using a composite such as fluosilicate salt in concrete production process of a initial construction, expenses are cut down and construction hours are reduced by securing durability through improvement of watertightness. The property tests of adiabatic temperature by hydration are carried out at initial age about standard concrete and test concrete using a fluosilicate salt composite to evaluate an effect on improvement of watertightness for concrete structures in this study. And the experiments such as a permeability test of hardened concrete, a water absorption test, a compression strength test and a elongation test are carried out and the results from these are described.

  • In domestic construction industry progress, construction and quality control of large structures are considered to be important as the superstructure and mass scale of structures. In the case of mass concrete, high hydration heat caused by cement hydration generates temperature stress by generating internal temperature difference with the concrete surface. These temperature stresses cause cracks to penetrate the concrete structure. A method of lowering the heat generation by incorporating Urea in order to reduce the concrete temperature crack has been proposed. In this study, the heat function coefficient for the FEM temperature crack analysis of the mass concrete containing the element was derived and the adiabatic temperature rise test was carried out according to the incorporation of the element. As a result of this experiment, the maximum temperature of 41 ± 1℃ was obtained irrespective of the amount of urea, and the maximum temperature decreased by 16.9℃ in concrete containing 40kg/㎥ of urea.

  • The polyimide film surface was modified with KOH aqueous solutions or sulfuric acid. The film thickness was increased by about 10% through the modification of film surface. Hydrolysis of amide bonds and hydration of water induced the increase. The polarity of the film surface increased and identified by contact angle measurement. The depth and roughness of modified was increased. After treatment of surface with water, alkyl and 4-pentyloxyaniline were introduced on the film surface by complex formation between anionic species formed on the imide surface and ammonium ion. The newly introduced alkyl group was identified by FT-IR spectroscopy. Surface polarity reduced dramatically and the roughness was increased after introduction of ammonium salt.

  • Thermal decomposition of hydrated surface layer of $Mg(OH)_2$ at $500^{\circ}C$ in vacuum turned non-porous MgO into porous one with high surface area of around $270 m^2$/g. Most of its surface area, 74 %, was from micropores, and rest of it was from mesopores in wedge-shaped slits, exhibiting bimodal size distribution centered around 30 and 90${\AA}$. Rehydration followed by subsequent dehydration at $300 ^{\circ}C$ in dynamic vacuum further raised the surface area to 340 $m^2$/g. Fraction of microporous surface area was increased to 93%, and the shape of the mesopores was modified into parallel slits with a specific dimension of 32 ${\AA}$. Application of $Fe_2O_3$ over MgO via iron complex formation did not alter the pore characteristics of MgO core, except slightly increased pore dimension. Over the course of the modification, $Fe_2O_3$ stayed on the surface possibly via spill-over reaction.

  • In this paper, we are presenting a case that integrates ultra high strength concrete(150MPa) with surface-exposed concrete. Ahead of the field application, we carried out laboratory experiment and B/P Test for a basic property of concrete(slump flow, air content, 50cm flow time, elapse time change and compression strength) and productivity. The next, we conducted Mock-up Test using simulation specimen to evaluate infilling, surface-finishing and hydration heat of concrete. We had satisfactory results for a basic property and hydration heat of concrete. However at the time of field application, it was occurred rupture of formwork because of high lateral pressure of concrete, and then formwork was reinforced and case-in-place time was adjusted. And regardless of low and high frequency vibration, it occurred to surface-pockmark. In case that applies ultra high strength concrete to surface-exposed concrete, we estimate that it is important of systematic management and improvement of construction.

  • Hydration products formed on the steel surface may impose the resistance to corrosion of steel when a concrete is exposed to a salt environment. In the present study, ordinary Portland cement (OPC), calcium aluminate cement (CAC) and calcium hydroxide are applied as coating materials on the steel surface to consider the hydrations of each binder at corrosion. Corrosion is measured in terms of the corrosion potential and galvanic current to detect the effects in mitigating the corrosion behavior.

  • The objective of this study is to investigate the waste recycling possibility, practicability, economic efficiency and acid gas sorbent use of the hard-shelled mussel. This study is to investigate the hydration/calcination reaction and fixed bed reactor. The physical-chemical characteristics of the hard-shelled mussel were analyzed by ICP SEM-EDX, BET and pore volume. Thus, the results could be summarized as follows; Hard-shelled mussel can be used as iron-manufacture and chemical sorbents considering more than 53.7% of the mussel is lime content. The SO$_2$removal efficiency of the hard-shelled mussel after calcined hydration increased thirty times as a result of the higher pore size, specific surface area and pore volume. Also, the CaO content, pore volume, pore size distribution and specific surface area greatly influenced the SO$_2$ and NOx removal reactivity. The optimum particle diameter average of hard-shelled mussel was $\pm$100 mesh, which was applied to the sorbent on the medium/small scale waste incinerator and flue gas desulfurization processes.

  • Na$_2$Si$_2$O$_{5}$ added to the solution affects the hydration of 4CaOㆍAl$_2$O$_3$ㆍFe$_2$O$_3$ with calcium sulfate. The reaction between 4CaOㆍAl$_2$O$_3$ Fe$_2$O$_3$and CaSO$_4$ㆍ 2$H_2O$ decrease with increasing amount of Na$_2$Si$_2$O$_{5}$ in solution, owing to low hydraulic reactivity of 4CaOㆍAl$_2$O$_3$ㆍFe$_2$O$_3$by the adsorption of silicate ions on the surface of 4CaOㆍAl$_2$O$_3$ㆍ Fe$_2$O$_3$ particles. The dissolution rate of 4CaOㆍAl$_2$O$_3$ㆍ Fe$_2$O$_3$ particles deceased with the increase of the concentration of silicate ion in solution. When the 4CaOㆍAl$_2$O$_3$ㆍFe$_2$O$_3$ particles was hydrated in gypsum - Na$_2$Si$_2$O$_{5}$ solution, the hydration was retarded and the rate could not discriminate between formation of ettringite and that of monosulfate, and it stopped in high concentration of silicate ions. However, silicate ion did not any effect on the dissolution rate of gypsum.ypsum.
