Experiments were conducted to investigate the turbulent flow characteristics from on oblique impingement surface to an plane jet at the jet Reynolds number(Re based on the nozzle width) $3{\times}10^4$ The jet mean velocity and turbulent intensity profiles have been measured along the impingement surface by hot-wire anemometer. The nozzle-to-plate distance(H/B) ranged from 2 to 10 and the oblique angle (a) from 45 to 90 degree. Also the secondary peak of the turbulent intensity was observed at H/B=4 S/B 5 and a=90 degree. It has been found that the stagnation point shifted toward the minor flow region as the oblique angle decreased and the position of the stagnation point nearly coincided with that of the maximum turbulent intensity.

Intensity of solar radiation on a horizontal surface at 12 areas in South Korea was indicated in the last report, Vol. 5, No.3 Journal of the S. A. R. E. K. In this report, area of South Korea was devided into 4 zones in latitude, and calculated intensity of total mean solar radiation on horizontal surface, normal surface to sun rays, and vertical surface of south, north, west and east. For the 4 areas, the following data have been obtained and are indicated in each table. Intensity of total mean solar radiation for Seoul, Gimcheon, Jinju and Jeju$\cdots$Table2 thru Table 5.

In order to investigate the effect of nozzle on stress concentration in pressure vessels, three dimensional finite element analyses were performed. The results were compared with those for corresponding two dimensional axisymmetric finite element analyses. A three dimensional finite element model with a surface crack was also designed to evaluate the effect of internal pressure and heat transfer on crack face, and the resulting stress intensity factors from the finite element analyses were compared with those for ASME Sec. XI and Raju-Newman's stress intensity factor solution. As a result, the validity of currently available stress intensity factor solutions for a surface crack was reviewed in the presence of geometrical complexity, heat transfer and internal pressure.
As an integral part of the probabilistic fracture mechanics analysis, stress intensity factor calculation scheme for semi-elliptical surface flaws in thin-walled cylinder has been introduced. The approximation solution utilizes the influence coefficients to calculate the stress intensity factor at the crack tip. This method has been compared with other solution methods including 3-D finite element analysis for cooldown boundary condition. The analysis results confirmed that the simplified methods provided sufficiently accurate stress intensity factor values for axial semi-elliptcal flaws on the surface of the reactor pressure vessel.
Finite element analysis is performed on the subsurface crack propagation in brittle materials due to sliding contact. The sliding contact is simulated by a rigid asperity moving across the surface of an elastic half-surface containing single and multiple cracks. The single crack, coplanar cracks and parallel cracks are modeled to investigate the interaction effects on the crack growth in contact fatigue. The crack location is fixed and the friction coefficients between asperity and half-space are varied to analyze the effect of surface friction on stress intensity factor for horizontal cracks. The crack propagation direction is predicted based on the maximum range of shear and tensile stress intensity factors. With a coplanar crack, the stress intensity factor was increased. However, with a parallel crack, the stress intensity factor was decreased. These results indicate that the interaction of a coplanar crack increases fatigue crack propagation, whereas that of a parallel crack decreases it.
Using artificial rainfall simulator, the soil loss, which is deemed as the most cause of muddy water problem among Non-point source (NPS) pollutant, was studied by the analysis of direct runoff, groundwater discharge, and soil water storage properties concerned with rainfall intensity, slope of area, and land cover. The direct runoff showed increasing tendency in both straw covered and bared soil as slope increases from 5% to 20%. The direct runoff volume from straw covered surface were much lower than bared surface. The infiltration capacity of straw covered surface increased, because the surface sealing by fine material of soil surface didn't occur due to the straw covering. Under the same rainfall intensity and slope condition, 2.4~8.2 times of sediment yield were occurred from bared surface more than straw covered surface. The volume of infiltration increased due to straw cover and the direct runoff flow decreased with decrease of tractive force in surface. To understand the relationship of the rate of direct runoff, groundwater discharge, and soil water storage by the rainfall intensity, slope, and land cover, the statistical test was performed. It shows good relationship between most of factors, except between the rate of groundwater storage and rainfall intensity.

In case that the body with a cusp crack is under uniform heat flow, thermal stress intensity factors are calculated by using boundary element method with linearized body force term. The crack surface is under insulated or fixed temperature condition and the types of crack are symmetric lip and airfoil cusps. Numerical values of thermal stress intensity factors for a Griffith crack and cusp cracks in infinite bodies are proved to be in good agreement within .+-.5% when compared with the previous numerical and exact solutions, respectively. The thermal stress intensity factors for symmetric lip and airfoil cusp cracks in finite bodies are calculated about various effective crack lengths, configuration parameters, and heat flow directions. With the same crack surface thermal boundary conditions, heat flow directions and crack lengths, there are no appreciable differences in variations of thermal stress intensity factors between symmetric lip and airfoil cusp cracks. The signs of thermal stress intensity factors for each cusp crack are changed with each crack surface thermal boundary condition.

Correlation among color intensity, electron donating ability to $\alpha$, $\alpha$-diphenyl-$\beta$-dicrylhydrazy(DPPH) and cultivation conditions by Bacillus subtilis DC-2 were tested with response surface methodology. Both of pigment generation ability and DPPH were more affected by temperature than any other factor. The highest correlation was appeared between color intensity and DPPH as 0.8364 which is significant at 1% level. After fixing cultivation time which is not significant at 10% level to 84hrs as optical cultivation time, response surface methodology was conducted in regarding temperature and color intensity. As a result of overlapped contour map of color intensity and DPPH, when cultivation temperature was in the range of 38.9~41.1$^{\circ}C$ and pH was in the range of 8.34~9.12, optical density of color intensity was predicted higher than 0.374 at 390nm and DPPH was infered higher than 1.310 at 528nm. In the range of optical culture condition, cultivation temperature, pH and cultivation time was fixed to 4$0^{\circ}C$, 8.5 and 85hrs, respectively. In resulting, observation value of color intensity and DPPH was in the range of anticipation value as 0.386 at 390nm and 1.332 at 528nm respectively.

Experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of the initial turbulent intensity on the flow and heat transfer characteristics for a two-dimensional impinging jet. A square rod was installed at the nozzle exit to increase initial turbulent intensity. A hot wire probe and thermochromic liquid crystal technique were used to measure the turbulent intensity and the surface temperature. All measurements were made over a range of nozzle-to-plate distance from 1 to 10 at Re=20,000. When the rod is not installed, the maximum stagnation point Nusselt number is occurred at H/B=9. A higher initial turbulent intensity enhanced the heat transfer on the surface. A correlation between stagnation point Nusselt number and turbulent intensity are presented.
This study is to propose more reliable test method in evaluating the sound insulation performance of building element in fields. This method involves the measurements of the incident acoustic intensity and transmitted surface intensity. The incident intensity is determined from measurements of the space averaged sound pressure level in source room. The transmitted surface intensity is measured directly using one microphone and one accelerometer. The results of experiments indicate that this new method makes it possible to give more reliable data than the conventional field test method. The values of trans-mission loss measured by this new method are compared favorably with those obtained using the sound intensity method and theoretical calculation(mass law).
