  • It is far more expensive for companies to acquire new customers than it is to retain customers. As a result, companies are turning to Customer Relationship Management (CRM) in order to make decisions about managing the relationship and the profitability of those customer relationships. CRM is a strategy that integrates the concepts of Knowledge Management, Data Mining and Data Warehousing in order to support the organization's decision -making process to retain long-term and profitable relationships with its customers. This paper examines the design implications that CRM poses to data warehousing. We then present a robust data warehouse schema to support CRM analyses and decisions. For example, the proposed schema could be used to calculate customer profitability and to identify social networks of influence between customers. The paper also discusses future areas for research pertaining to CRM data warehousing and data mining.

  • While non-uniform shapes are appearing as an apparent building style recently, most architects predominantly think structure and construction technology should support the designed shape of non-uniform structures determined by the architect. Within such a governance structure of architect's perception, the role of an engineer is emphasized for technical support only. Especially, in making a decision on a structural design and plan, if various and objective reviews are not conducted, the design is very likely to be left only as a drawing even if the design is appropriate for criteria and norms. With the recognition of such problems, the present study attempted to propose an equal cooperative relationship between architects and engineers in designing non-uniform structures in the future.

  • Owners' efforts to acquire Green building certification, which started in 2002, have been rapidly increasing since 2006. The causes of the increased owners' interests are due to various incentives, legal obligation, and purpose of advertising. As project owners generally are deficient in capabilities and knowledge on how to deal with administrative works on certification, they tend to fulfill the minimum requirements for certification. However, effective administration process need capabilities of identifying individual making decision point and review information. The implementation of green building certification system is expected to provide comfort to both occupants and potential users. Furthermore it contributes to reducing energy costs throughout the phase of O&M. In addition, technology innovation in green industry can be obtained. Therefore, this study is intended to support owners in order that they can clarify certification tasks and make a rational decision-making in time. For this purpose, first of all, the major decision points were selected as the gateways of green building certification process. And then management system based on IDEF3 modeling was developed for supporting owners' decision-making performance. This management system will improve owners' overall capacity in handling all the tasks regarding the certification of Green building.

  • Even though Korea is strengthening the support for startups due to the limitations of growth policies focusing on large companies, the survival rate of startups is very low, so that there should be more efforts to increase the survival rate of startups. As the existing startup support institutions have provided only fragmentary supports to startups, it would be necessary to have the comprehensive support institutions. As an alternative, the accelerator providing the comprehensive support such as spatial support, education, mentoring, networking, seed investment, and connection for follow-up investment to the initial startups was legalized in Korea of 2016, based on the registration system. Currently, within less than two year from then, there have been much interest in it enough to have about 136 registered accelerators. In the United States, the accelerator was introduced more than ten years ago. In Korea, however, it is still in the initial stage, so that the researches or social consensus on the accelerator are not sufficient. Thus, this study aims to suggest the measures for the development of accelerator and the consensus on the decision making for the selection of accelerator of startups, by researching which parts are considered when startups in the accelerator stage select the accelerator. As a result of the empirical analysis, the factor that has the greatest influence on decision making factors when startup chooses an accelerator was the subsequent investment attraction. This can be explained to the accelerator as desired, considering the factor that the startup of the initial stage places the most importance on growth as investment. We hope that these research results will be sustainable in future research related to accelerators, in hopes that it will be useful for establishing accelerator policies for domestic startups and direction for revitalizing related industries.

  • In the 21st century, medical facility projects are required to operate appropriate digital technologies as the development of technology and the interests of various participants become more complex. In order for architects to successfully lead negotiations among various stakeholder groups, it is necessary to plan for effective communication through appropriate design reflecting their opinions and coordination of conflicts. For this purpose, building information modeling (BIM), which is a method of designing based on knowledge information related to medical facilities in the building database, can respond to change of order promptly and minimizes the occurrence of design errors can do. Recently, BIM technology and cloud computing technology in ICT have been combined and research on cloud BIM has been actively carried out. The use of cloud computing technology in BIM-based healthcare facility projects can effectively support decision making among project participants and has the advantage of sharing and collaborating on various forms of information generated during the design process, regardless of location and time. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to build of system that can support the design of medical facility using cloud computing technology in BIM.

  • In this paper, the impact of a vernacular pozzolanic kaolinite mine on concrete alkali-silica reaction and strength has been evaluated. For making the samples, kaolinite powder with various levels has been used in the quality specification test of aggregates based on the ASTM C1260 standard in order to investigate the effect of kaolinite particles on reducing the reaction of the mortar bars. The compressive strength, X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) experiments have been performed on concrete specimens. The obtained results show that addition of kaolinite powder to concrete will cause a pozzolanic reaction and decrease the permeability of concrete samples comparing to the reference concrete specimen. Further, various machine learning methods have been used to predict ASR-induced expansion per different amounts of kaolinite. In the process of modeling methods, optimal method is considered to have the lowest mean square error (MSE) simultaneous to having the highest correlation coefficient (R). Therefore, to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed model, the results of the support vector machine (SVM) method were compared with the decision tree method, regression analysis and neural network algorithm. The results of comparison of forecasting tools showed that support vector machines have outperformed the results of other methods. Therefore, the support vector machine method can be mentioned as an effective approach to predict ASR-induced expansion.

  • Rapid advances in information technology(IT) and telecommunication systems impact the number and quality of decision-making in organizations. Specifically, middle mangers must posses or develop the creativity necessary for survival in a constantly changing and volatile business environment. While tradition and conventional wisdom tell us that a middle managers role centers on control and monitoring, todays competitive arena has spun out a new managerial requirement developing and maintaining an innovative attitude. Problematically, most previous research has focused on the issue of changing decision authority (i. e. centralization/decentralization). Moreover, much previous research has also largely ignored environmental changes exposing new roles that middle managers have assumed. This study explores the means of identifying middle managerial roles, managerial possibilities involving the growing popularity of open systems through electronic brainstorming, and an adaptation and development of Diffusion Theory and attempt to counter criticism leveled at the theory's inability to provide an adequate explanation for diffusion of complex organizational technology. This paper develops three ideas: 1) Introducing the 'Chasing Curve' as a theoretical background. 2) Suggesting a new methodology using electronic brainstorming for analyzing the gap between Knowing (the perceived importance of middle managers' roles) and Doing (the degree of current status of middle managers' roles), which we term the 'Spiral Gap Analysis Model'. 3) Identifying a feedback system for minimizing the Knowing - Doing gap, aimed at development of IT strategic priority decision support, which we call this the 'Star Process'.

  • Water quality modelling is an ideal tool of simulating physical, chemical and biological changes occurring in water systems. It has been utilized in a number of GIS-based water quality management and analysis applications. However, there is a need of a decision making process to translate the modelling result into an understandable form thereby implement the modelling results to the real world. This paper outlines a new water quality index called the QUAL2E's water quality index (QWQI) based on the water quality modelling using QUAL2E. The development mainly includes four steps: variable selection, sub-index development, weight assignment and sub-index aggregation. An experiment of applying the index and GIS to the Sapgyo River in Korea was implemented. Different from other water quality indices for general water uses, the index is specifically used for the simulated water quality indicators. The index can provide a simple and easy-to-understand decision support. Furthermore, interfacing with GIS, the decision analysis can be performed within a spatial environment. However, more study needs to be made in the future including the improvement of aggregation function.

  • The purpose of the current study was to examine the role of information on shapewear's functionality in consumers' purchase decisions in an online shopping context. Through two steps of stimulus development process, four mock websites were developed to conduct a main study. In the main study, a 2 (visual information: absent vs. present images of the shapewear's functionality) x 2 (verbal information: absent vs. present descriptions of the shapewear's functionality) between-subject factorial design was employed to examine the impact of visual and verbal information regarding the functionality of shapewear on the consumer decision-making process (i.e., attitudes and purchase intentions). The results showed that verbal information about how shapewear reduces the size of specific body parts (i.e., waist, abdomen, hips, and thighs) were effective in increasing perceived attractiveness in an online context, which increased attitudes and purchase intentions. In addition, attitudes toward the shapewear mediated the effects of expected physical attractiveness on purchase intentions. The results of this study provided empirical support for the importance of expected physical attractiveness in consumers' online purchase decision on shapewear and useful managerial implications for enhancing the effectiveness of online shapewear presentations by including descriptions of the functionality of shapewear in decreasing the size of body parts.
