This study investigated characteristics of the post-weld heat treatment of SA213-T23, which was developed for water wall of the ultra super critical power boiler. The temperature of post weld heat treatment should be $730^{\circ}C$ or higher to reduce hardness of the deposit metal and heat affected zone. Coincidently, the temperature should remain $760^{\circ}C$ or lower to prevent hardness of the base metal from dropping. Hardness decline of deposit metal was trivial according to time when the holding time of heat treatment at $740^{\circ}C$ of post-weld heat treatment gradually increased from initial 15 minutes.

This paper describes the conductor temperature and tensile load analysis of invar by flame exposure on STACIR(Super Thermal-resistance Aluminium-alloy Conductors Reinforced) overhead transmission line based on real fault phenomena. Firstly, short-circuit fault by flame exposure is analysed by EMTP/ATP simulation, then the cutting causes of Al layer are also discussed. And then, the conductor temperature is calculated based on IEC 60949 according to 3 kinds of materials including invar, Al conductor and ACSR when same load current respectively flows in 3 kinds of material, they are compared each other. Finally, the tensile load tests are performed with various samples including new invar, used invar for a long time and invar exposed flame.
The microstructure and texture of TiN coatings on a Ni-based super-alloy were characterized by the automated version of electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD), EBSD techniques were used to investigate the very fine TiN grain shape and crystal orientation. This study confirmed that EBSD techniques provide a very useful tool for characterization of coating materials. The TiN grains had a special texture, a {001}-fiber texture in the coating layer. It was also found that, in severe environments, the coating performance of equiaxial and randomly oriented TiN is superior to that with columnar structures.
Many research efforts on the effect of nitrogen on the corrosion resistance of stainless steels have been reported, but little research has been conducted on the effect of nitrogen for the weldment of stainless steels by the seal-weld method. Therefore, this work focused on the determining the corrosion resistance of tube/tube sheet mock-up specimen for sea water condensers, and elucidating the effect of shielding nitrogen gas on its resistance. The pitting corrosion of autogenously welded specimen propagated preferentially along the dendritic structure. Regardless of the percent of shielding nitrogen gas, the analyzed nitrogen contents were very much lower than that of the bulk specimen. This can be arisen because the nitrogen in shielding gas may partly dissolve into the weldment, but simultaneously during the welding process, nitrogen in the alloy may escape into the atmosphere. However, the pitting resistance equivalent number (PREN) of the interdendrite area was higher than that of the dendrite arm, regardless of the shielding gas percent; and the PREN of the interdendrite area was higher than that of the base metal; the PREN of the dendrite arm was lower than that of the base metal because of the formation of (Cr, Mo) rich phases by welding.

Super austenitic stainless steels shows the high PRE (Pitting Resistance Equivalent) number and the good corrosion resistance. This work controlled the Co contents in Fe-31Cr-1.7Mo-27Ni-0.25N alloys to elucidate the effect of cobalt contents on the biocompatibility and corrosion resistance. Increasing Co contents, the hardness of the annealed alloys tends to be reduced. In aged alloys, cobalt decreased the increments of hardness by aging treatment. Cobalt decreased the critical pitting temperature (CPT) in 6% $FeCl_3$ + 1% HCl solution, but improved the anodic polarization behavior in Hanks' balanced salt solution and artificial saliva solution. Repassivation rate in artificial body solutions was improved by increasing cobalt contents, but didn't show the linear relationship to PRE number of the alloys. The experimental alloys showed the non-cytotoxicity because of its high corrosion resistance.
With the recent development of super-precision optical instruments, camera modules for devices, such as portable terminals and digital camera lenses, are increasingly being used. Since an optical lens is usually produced by high-temperature compression molding methods using tungsten carbide (WC) alloy molding cores, it is necessary to develop and study technology for super-precision processing of molding cores and coatings for the core surface. In this study, Rhenium-Iridium (Re-Ir) thin films were deposited onto a WC molding core using a sputtering system. The Re-Ir thin films were prepared by a multi-target sputtering technique, using iridium, rhenium, and chromium as the sources. Argon and nitrogen were introduced through an inlet into the chamber to be the plasma and reactive gases. The Re-Ir thin films were prepared with targets having a composition ratio of 30 : 70, and the Re-Ir thin films were formed with a 240 nm thickness. Re-Ir thin films on WC molding core were analyzed by scanning electron microscope (SEM), atomic force microscope (AFM), and Ra (the arithmetical average surface roughness). Also, adhesion strength and coefficient friction of Re-Ir thin films were examined. The Re-Ir coating technique has received intensive attention in the coating processes field because of promising features, such as hardness, high elasticity, abrasion resistance and mechanical stability that result from the process. Re-Ir coating technique has also been applied widely in industrial and biomedical applications. In this study, WC molding core was manufactured, using high-performance precision machining and the effects of the Re-Ir coating on the surface roughness.

Inconel 718 super alloy was aging heat treated at the temperature range from $675^{\circ}C$ to $785^{\circ}C$ for 5~40 hours after solution annealing at $1025^{\circ}C$ for 1 hour. The aging treated specimens were investigated microstructure, mechanical properties and thermal expansion/contraction. Precipitates appeared for a long time aging treatment were niobium carbide and also ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ phase. For the aging treatment time of 10 hours, the changes in strength and hardness with increasing aging treatment temperature showed the maximum value at the temperature of $725^{\circ}C$. This maximum value is to be related with the precipitation of ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ and ${\gamma}^{{\prime}{\prime}}$ phases. The decrease in strength, elongation and hardness during long time aging at $725^{\circ}C$ were thought to be induced from the coarsening of the grain size and the transformation of ${\gamma}^{{\prime}{\prime}}$ phase to ${\gamma}^{\prime}$ phase. For the specimens treated for 10 hours, impact energy showed constant value of ~105 J with increasing the aging temperature, however this value continuously decreased with elapsing time at the aging temperature of $725^{\circ}C$. It was found that the decrease in impact value was induced from the coarsening of grain size and the carbide coarsening. The coefficient of thermal expansion of aging treated Inconel 718 alloy increased with raising test temperature, and the coefficient was appeared $11.57{\sim}12.09{\mu}m/m{\cdot}^{\circ}C$ and $14.28{\sim}14.39{\mu}m/m{\cdot}^{\circ}C$, respectively, after heating to $150^{\circ}C$ and $450^{\circ}C$.
Three different white cast irons alloyed with Cr, V, Mo and W were prepared in order to study their transformation behavior of matrix structures in heat-treated conditions. The specimens were produced using a 15kg-capacity high frequency induction furnace. Melts were super-heated to $1600^{\circ}C$, and poured at $1550^{\circ}C$ into Y-block pepset molds. Three combinations of the alloying elements were selected so as to obtain the different types of carbides and matrix structures : 3%C-10%Cr-5%Mo-5%W(alloy No. 1), 3%C-10%V-5%Mo-5%W(alloy No. 2) and 3%C-17%Cr-3%V(alloy No. 3). The heat-treatments were conducted as follows: frist of all, as-cast specimens were homogenized at $950^{\circ}C$ for 5h under the vacuum atmosphere. Then, they were austenitized at $1050^{\circ}C$ for 2h and followed by air-hardening in air. The air-hardened specimens were tempered at $300^{\circ}C$ for 3h. The observation of morphology of the matrix structures was carried out in the states of as-cast(AS), air-hardened(AHF) and tempered(AHFT). The matrix structures of each alloy were almost fully pearlitic in the as-cast state but it was transformed to martensite, tempered martensite and retained austenite by the heat-treatments such as air-hardening and tempering.
The effects of alloying elements on the superplastic properties of Al-Li based alloys had been investigated. The intermediate thermo-mechanical treated (ITMT) Al-2.0wt%Li, Al-2.0wt%Li-1.0wt%Mg, Al-2.0wt%Li-0.12wt%Zr and Al-2.0wt%Li-1.2wt%Cu-1.0wt%Mg-0.12wt%Zr alloys were tested in tension at various temperature (400, 450, 500 and $550^{\circ}C$) and strain rate($6.7{\times}10^{-3}$, $1.0{\times}10^{-2}$, $1.6{\times}10^{-2}$ and $5.0{\times}10^{-2}/sec$). The results were as follows : The superplasticity in binary, ternary and pentanary alloys appeared at 500 to $550^{\circ}C$, and good strain rate for superplasticity. $1.6{\times}10^{-2}/sec{\sim}1.0{\times}10^{-2}/sec$ for a binary alloy and $1.0{\times}10^{-2}/sec{\sim}6.7{\times}10^{-3}/sec$ for ternary and pentanary alloys. A Zr-added ternary alloy had best value of elongation (730%) in four alloys at $550^{\circ}C$ of tension temperature and $1.0{\times}10^{-2}/sec$ of strain rate. The strain rate was greatly dependent on tension temperature and true strain rate was more than 1.0 at all test temperature and strain rate. In binary and Mg-added teranry alloys. the necks were slightly formed and their fracture surface had lips shape, but Zr-added ternary and pentanary alloy fractured along the grain boundary without necking. Their dislocations moved to grain boundary during superplasticity deformation and arranged perpendicular to grain boundary. Super plastic deformation was made by grain boundary slip of dislocation slip creep and model of core and mantle.
The partially restrained smart CFT (concrete filled tube) column-to-beam connections with top-seat split T connections show various behavior characteristics according to the changes in the diameter and tightening force of the fastener, the geometric shape of T-stub, and material properties. This paper presents results from a systematic three-dimensional nonlinear finite element study on the structural behavior of the top-seat split T connections subjected to cyclic loadings. This connection includes super-elastic shape memory alloy (SMA) T-stub and rods to obtain the re-centering capabilities as well as great energy dissipation properties of the CFT composite frame. A wide scope of additional structural behaviors explain the influences of the top-seat split T connections parameters, such as the different thickness and gage distances of split T-stub.
