Next generation mobile communication system, such as IMT-2000, adopts Turbo codes due to their powerful error correction capability. This paper presents a block-wise maximum a posteriori (MAP) Turbo decoding structure with a low memory requirement. During this research, it has been observed that the training size and block size determine the amount of required memory and bit-error rate (BER) performance of the block-wise MAP decoder, and that comparable BER performance can be obtained with much shorter blocks when the training size is sufficient. Based on this observation, a new decoding structure is proposed and presented in this paper. The proposed block-wise decoder employs a decoding scheme for reducing the memory requirement by setting the training size to be N times the block size. The memory requirement for storing the branch and state metrics can be reduced 30% to 45%, and synthesis results show that the overall memory area can be reduced by 5.27% to 7.29%, when compared to previous MAP decoders. The decoder throughput can be maintained in the proposed scheme without degrading the BER performance.

Three hundred and eighty-nine cases of splanchnic nerve block were retrospectively divided into 3 groups according to the change of alcohol concentration. In Group 1 (26 cases), about 7 ml of 1% lidocaine was used bilaterally as test block followed by an injection of 20 ml of 50% alcohol bilaterally. In Group 2 (286 cases) the same test block was followed by the same amount of pure and 50% alcohol. In Group 3 (77 cases) and used 30 ml of 75% alcohol bilaterally. The overall success rate of the first alcohol block in group 1, 2 and 3 was 73.1%, 92.0% and 84.4% respectively. From the above results, that splanchnic nerve block by pure alcohol was the most reliable method for upper abdominal cancer patients.

동일한 데이터를 여러 곳에 보관하는 분산원장을 특징으로 갖는 블록체인은 보안성과 안정성을 비롯한 여러 가지 기술적 특징을 가지며, 이로 인해 블록체인의 활용처에 관한 연구가 다양하게 이루어지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 공적장부의 하나인 부동산종합공부시스템에 블록체인을 적용하기 위해 고려할 사항들을 도출하고, 이를 바탕으로 블록체인 시스템 구성 방안과 합의 알고리즘을 포함하는 블록체인 참조 모델을 제시한다.

The block size of intra prediction mode can differentiate the texture area from the homogeneous area of image. This information can be used to enhance the size resolution of image. Specifically, in this paper, we apply the bicubic interpolation or the bilinear interpolation adaptively selected the intra prediction mode of the H.264 compression.

Flash memory has become the most important storage media in mobile devices along with its attractive features such as low power consumption, small size, light weight, and shock resistance. However, a flash memory can not be written before erased because of its erase-before-write characteristic, which lead to some garbage collection when there is not enough space to use. In this paper, we propose a novel garbage collection scheme, called block-level buffer garbage collection. When it is need to do merge operation during garbage collection, the proposed scheme does not merge the data block and corresponding log block but also search the block-level buffer to find the corresponding block which will be written to flash memory in the next future, and then decide whether merge it in advance or not. Our experimental results show that the proposed technique improves the flash performance up to 4.6% by reducing the unnecessary block erase numbers and page copy numbers.

Edge Histogram Descriptor는 image의 edge 분포 정보를 표현하며 방향성을 가지는 Bio Image 검색에 있어 높은 검색 성능을 나타낸다. 그러나 Bio Image의 객체 분포의 특성으로 인해 지역적 edge 분포 비교는 충분한 검색 성능을 보장하지는 못한다. 본 논문에서는 특징 block을 이용한 효율적인 검색 알고리즘을 제안한다. Local histogram으로부터 Global bin을 얻어 image의 대표 방향성을 선정하고 특징 block을 선정한다. 특징 block의 비교는 edge 분포와 함께 주요 객체의 위치 정보를 더하는 효과를 가진다. Bio Image의 검색 실험에서 제안 알고리즘은 향상된 검색 성능을 보여준다. 또한 Bio image 검색을 위한 descriptor 조합 연구에도 적용 가능하여 검색 효율을 기대할 수 있다.

Due to the temporal spatial correlation of the image sequence, the motion vector of a block is highly related to the motion vectors of its adjacent blocks in the same image frame. If we can obtain useful and enough information from the adjacent motion vectors, the total number of search points used to find the motion vector of the block may be reduced significantly. Using that idea, an efficient fuzzy prediction search (FPS) algorithm for block motion estimation is proposed in this paper. Based on the fuzzy inference process, the FPS can determine the motion vectors of image blocks quickly and correctly.

In this paper, we present our study about the optimization of the block matching algorithm on a VLIW based DSP. The block matching algorithm is well known for its computational burden in motion picture encoding. As supposed to the previous researches where the optimization is achieved by optimizing SAD, the most heavy routine of the block matching, we optimize the block matching algorithm by applying software pipelining technique to the whole routine of the algorithm. Through experiments, the efficiency of the proposed optimization is verified.

Lubrication characteristics between a cylinder block and a valve plate for high speed bent-axis type hydraulic pump play an important role in volumetric efficiency and durability of pump. In this paper, a finite element method is presented for the computation of the pressure distribution between a cylinder block and a valve plate for high speed bent-axis type hydraulic pump. Also, a Runge-Kutta method is applied to simulate the cylinder block dynamics of three-degrees of freedom motion. From the results of computation, we can draw two major conclusions. One is related to the fluid film characteristics between a cylinder block and a valve plate and the other is related to the average leakage that is determined by the pressure gradient and the clearance near the discharge port. The numerical results of cylinder block dynamics were compared with the experimental results using eddy-current type gap sensors those are fixed at a pump housing.
