조경수목(造景樹木)의 대기오염물질(大氣汚染物質)에 대한 피해반응(被害反應)(I) -엽내유황(葉內硫黃) 및 중금속(重金屬) 함량(含量)을 중심으로- (Injury Responses of Woody Landscape Plants to Air Pollutants(I) -Sulfur and Heavy Metal Content-)

  • 조경수목(造景樹木)들의 대기오염물질(大氣汚染物質) 흡수(吸收), 정화능력(淨化能力)을 알아보기 위해 서울, 대전(大田) 등(等) 대도시(大都市) 지역과 광릉지역(光陸地域)을 선정하고 소나무, 잣나무, 은행나무, 튜립나무 및 양버즘나무 잎을 채취하여 유황함량(硫黃含量)과 중금속(重金屬) 함량(含量)을 측정 분석하였다. 조경수목(造景樹木)의 엽내(葉內) 유황함량(硫黃含量)은 서울 및 대전(大田)의 오염지역(汚染地域)의 수목(樹木)들이 비오염지역(非汚染地域)인 광릉지역(光陸地域) 수목(樹木)에 비하여 모두 높았으며, 활엽수(闊葉樹)가 침엽수(針葉樹)에서보다 2.6배(倍)나 더 높게 나타났다. 특히 은행나무(나자식물(裸子植物))와 양버즘나무(피자식물(被子植物))의 유황(硫黃) 흡수능(吸收能)이 높았다. 시기별(時期別)로는 은행나무, 양버즘나무 및 튜립나무에서 경시적(經時的)으로 유의적(有意的)인 증가(增加)를 하고 있었다. 엽내(葉內) Pb 함량(含量)은 오염지역(汚染地域)이 비오염지역(非汚染地域)에 비하여 잣나무, 소나무, 양버즘나무, 튜립나무 및 은행나무에서 각각(各各) 14.1, 10.6, 5.0, 4.2 및 3.9배(倍) 더 높게 나타났으며, 엽내(葉內) Zn의 함량(含量)은 오염지역(汚染地域)에서 각각(各各) 2.0, 1.4, 5.3, 8.8 및 3.6배(倍) 더 높게 나타났다. 오염지역(汚染地域)에서는 침엽수(針葉樹)의 경우 Pb의 흡수(吸收), 축적(蓄積)이 많았고 활엽수(闊葉樹)의 경우 Zn의 흡수(吸收), 축적(蓄積)이 더 많았다. 수종별(樹種別)로는 잣나무가 소나무보다 엽내(葉內) Pb, Zn, Cu의 함량(含量)이 높았으며, 엽령별(葉令別)로 1년생(年生)잎보다 2년생(年生)잎에서 더 높았고, 소나무, 잣나무, 튜립나무 및 양버즘나무에서는 전유황함량(全硫黃含量)과 중금속(重金屬)(Pb+Zn+Cu) 함량(含量)의 평균치간(平均値間)에 정(正)의 상관(相關)이 있었다.

Effect of Sulfur Contents and Welding Thermal Cycles on Reheat Cracking Susceptibility in Multi-pass Weld Metal of Fe-36%Ni Alloy

  • This study has been conducted to clarify the effect of sulfur content and welding thermal cycles on reheat cracking susceptibility in the multi-pass weld metal of Fe-36%Ni alloy. Reheat cracking occurred in the preceding weld pass reheated by subsequent passes. Microscopic observations showed that reheat cracking propagated along grain boundaries which resulted in intergranular brittle fractures. The region where reheat cracking occurred and the number of cracks increased with the increase in sulfur content of the alloys. These experimental results suggested that reheat cracking was associated with the embrittlement of grain boundaries, which was promoted by sulfur and subsequent welding thermal cycles. AES analysis indicated that the sulfur segregation occurred at grain boundaries in the reheated weld metal. On the basis of these results, the cause of reheat cracking in multi-pass welding can be attributed to hot ductility loss of weld metals due to sulfur segregation which was accelerated by the reheating with multi-pass welding thermal cycles.

비황분계 부취제를 혼합한 LPG 연료의 차량 배출가스 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Exhaust Emissions Characteristics of LPG Vehicle using LPG Fuel with Sulfur Free Odorant)

  • In general, odorant was added to fuel gases, such as LPG, LNG and city gas, to prevent gas poisoning, ignition, explosion, or other accident caused by fuel gases, and to enable immediate and easy detection of fuel-gas leakage by emitting an offensive smell. This study describes a study on the exhaust emissions characteristics and fuel economy of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) vehicle using LPG fuel with new sulfur free odorant. New sulfur free odorant was added to LPG to reduce sulfur content of the LPG. Its performance and exhaust emission were compared to those of LPG with sulfur containing odorant (EM, ethyl mercaptan). Engine performance using LPG with sulfur free odorant was similar to that with sulfur-containing odorant. Exhaust emissions from the LPG vehicle with LPG including sulfur free odorant were also similar to those with LPG including sulfur containing odorant in the FTP 75 and NEDC mode. There experimental results suggest that the sulfur free odorant may substitute for the sulfur containing odorant in LPG fuel.

고유황 보일러에서의 Sulfur Trioxide의 억제에 대한 연구 (Study on the Suppression of Sulfur Trioxide in High Sulfur Boiler)

  • The average sulfur content of crude oil is 2.2%. Coal is about 0.3 to 4.0 percent of the sulfur gases or particles being discharged into the atmosphere through the chimney as 1 to 2% $SO_3$(Sulfur trioxide) and about 95% of the $SO_2$ is reported. $SO_3$ gas, which has many different causes of, as the combustion of sulfur containing fuel during the air due to the excess $SO_2$ gas is oxidized to $SO_3$ gas. Sulfur trioxide emitted from high sulfur heavy oil fired boiler caused white plume in stack and high temperature and cold end corrosion of facilities. So, in order to control sulfur trioxide concentration of Fuel gas in boiler, various of additives are used in other foreign. They are injected to Fuel Oil and consumed in boiler and reduce ash and the conversion rate of sulfur trioxide. In domestic, MgO compounds are used as additives but the total volume of them are made from other foreign company. In this study, MgO compounds were developed with liquid MgO compounds and field application was accomplished. The effect of newly developed chemicals and process were nearly equal to foreign products. In Consequent, the chemicals and process produced by newly developed technology can be substituted for foreign products and reduce the cost of plant operation.

용융황 침투에 의한 콘크리트 구조물의 물성 증진에 관한 연구 (Reinforcement of Concrete Structure by Impregnation of Molten Sulfur)

  • This study aims to reinforce concrete structure by impregnation of molten sulfur. The improved properties of sulfur impregnated concerete were confirmed by compressive strength test and water proof effect. Following variables were adopted to evaluate impregnation parameters ; 1) the effect of water content in concrete structure (0-8%) 2) impregnation time of molten sulfur(0-22hr) 3) impregnation temprature of molten sulfur(13$0^{\circ}C$, 14$0^{\circ}C$). In partial ponding experiments, the concrete specimen of sulfur impregnated by 2wt% yields 1.5 times higher value of compressive strength than that of control one(non-impregnated concerte). In complete ponding experiments, the mortar specimen of slufur impregnated by 12-14wt% yields 2-3 times higher value of compressive strength than that of control one (non-impregnated mortar). From the examination of X-ray diffractions, $\alpha$-sulfur was found in concrete pores. Homogeneous impregation of molten sulfur into concrete pores was also identified with poresize analysis and micrographs of SEM.

Influence of Illumination with Xenon or Sulfur Lamp on Growth of Tomato Seedlings

  • Effects of illumination with xenon or sulfur lamp on growth of tomato seedlings were studied. Results showed no obvious differences in net photosynthetic rate and apparent quantum efficiency. In comparison with xenon lamp, illumination with sulfur lamp slightly reduced ChI a and ChI b content in leaves, relatively shortened epicotyl and hypocotyl length, but significantly increased anthocyanin content of leaves and promoted root growth of tomato seedling plants.

Effect of Dietary Supplementation with Processed Sulfur on Meat Quality and Oxidative Stability in Longissimus dorsi of Pigs

  • The effects of dietary supplementation of processed sulfur in pigs according to the level provided during the fattening phase were examined. The pigs were divided into three groups: control (CON), non-sulfur fed pigs; T1, 0.1% processed sulfur fed pigs; T2, 0.3% processed sulfur fed pigs. Physicochemical and sensory properties, as well as meat quality and oxidative stability of the Longissimus dorsi muscle were investigated. The feeding of processed sulfur did not affect moisture and protein contents (p>0.05). However, the crude fat content of T2 was significantly decreased compared to CON (p<0.05), while the pH value of T2 was significantly higher than those of both CON and T1 (p<0.05). Cooking loss and expressible drip of T2 were also significantly lower than that of CON (p<0.05). The redness of meat from T1 was significantly higher than both CON and T2 (p<0.01). During storage, lipid oxidation of the meat from sulfur fed pigs (T1 and T2) was inhibited compared to CON. Examination of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids revealed T2 to have significantly higher content than CON (p<0.05). In the sensory test, the juiciness and overall acceptability of T2 recorded higher scores than CON. This study demonstrated that meat from 0.3% processed sulfur fed pigs had improved nutrition and quality, with extended shelf-life.

대두종실(大豆種實)의 수량(收量)과 영양적(營養的) 품질(品質)에 미치는 황(黃) 시용(施用)의 효과(效果) (Effects of Sulfur on Yield and Nutritive Qualities of Soybean)

  • 황(黃)이 대두(大豆)의 수량(收量)과 생육(生育) 및 영양적(營養的) 품질(品質)에 미치는 효과(效果)를 구명(究明)하기 위하여 광교(光敎) 품종(品種)에 대하여 함황비료(含黃肥料)의 비종(肥種), 시비수준(施肥水準) 및 시용방법(施用方法)을 달리하여 포장실험(圃場實驗)을 실시(實施)하였다. 토양시비(土壤施肥)의 경우 황(黃) 공급원(供給源)으로 유안(硫安)과 과석(過石)을 공시(供試)하고 황(黃) 시비수준(施肥水準)은 10a 당(當) 0, 2, 4, 6kgS로 하였으며 엽면시비(葉面施肥)의 경우는 $K_2SO_4$, $(NH_4)_2SO_4$, $MgSO_4$, 및 Thiourea 를 개화기(開花期)에 10a당(當) 2kgS로 시용(施用)하였다. 실험(實驗) 결과(結果)는 다음과 같이 요약(要約)된다. 1. 종실(種實) 수량(收量)과 건물중(乾物重)은 황(黃) 시용수준(施用水準)이 증가(增加)함에 따라 증가(增加)하였으며 각(各) 수량구성요소(收量構成要素)도 증가(增加)하였다. 2. 황(黃)의 시비(施肥)에 의하여 종실(種實)의 황(黃) 함량(含量)이 증가(增加)하였고 따라서 N/S비(比)도 저하(低下)되었다. 3. 종실(種實)의 단백질(蛋白質) 함량(含量)은 황(黃)의 시비(施肥)로 증가(增加)하는 경향(傾向)을 보였으며 함황(含黃)아미노산(酸)인 methionine과 cysteine이 증가(增加)하여 대두(大豆) 단백질(蛋白質)의 영양적(營養的) 품질(品質)을 향상(向上)시킬 수 있는 효과(效果)가 나타났다. 4. 황(黃) 시비(施肥)는 종실(種實)의 지방함량(脂肪含量)이나 무기(無機)이온의 흡수(吸收)에는 영향(影響)을 미치지 않았다. 5. 황(黃)의 비종별(肥種別) 시비효과(施肥效果)에는 차이(差異)가 없었으며 시용방법별(施用方法別)로는 엽면시비(葉面施肥)가 더 효과적(效果的)이었다.

식이유황 급여에 따른 계육의 생리적 변화 (Comparison of Physiological Changes in Broiler Chicken Fed with Dietary Processed Sulfur)

  • 법제화된 유황이 육계사육에 미치는 영향을 알아보고자 유황사료를 급여한 닭의 폐사율, 무게 증가량을 측정 하였으며, 혈액의 항산화 활성과 혈액 내 글루타치온 및 콜레스테롤 함량, 그리고 계육의 단백질, 지방 분석과 닭유래 세포에서의 법제유황의 세포독성을 알아보았다. 먼저 일반사료에 비해 유황사료를 급여한 닭의 경우 폐사율이 감소하며, 닭의 무게가 증가하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 혈액 내 항산화활성을 FRAP 측정법을 이용하여 확인 한 결과 일반사료 급여군에 비해 유황사료 급여군에서 항산화 활성이 증가하였다. 혈액 내 전체 콜레스테롤 함량에는 큰 차이가 나지 않지만, 고밀도 콜레스테롤은 증가하는 반면, 저밀도 콜레스테롤은 감소하는 것을 확인하였다. 또한 계육에서의 총 아미노산과 단백질 함량은 변화가 없지만 지방 함량은 크게 감소시키는 것을 알 수 있었으므로 유황사료가 계육의 품질을 향상시켜 상품성을 높여줄 수 있을 것으로 사료되었다

2009년 서울지역 유통 한약재의 이산화황 잔류실태 분석 (Analysis of Sulfur Dioxide Residue in Commercial Medicinal Herbs in Seoul (2009))

  • This study was conducted to investigate the content of sulfur dioxide residues in medicinal herbs in Seoul in 2009. Sulfur dioxide in the samples were determined by Monnier-Williams's modified method. A total of 1,821 samples of 205 different types of herbs were collected from Kyung-Dong Herb markets and Oriental medicine hospitals in Seoul. Of these samples, 642 samples were domestic, and 1,179 samples were imported. Of the 1,821 samples, 61 (3.3%, 31 types) failed to meet the regulations for sulfur dioxide residues of KFDA in medicinal herbs. Among these 61 unsuitable samples, 17 (7 types) were domestic, and 44 samples (26 types) were imported. The content of sulfur dioxide in the domestic medicinal herbs ranged from 0 to 809 mg/kg, while those in imported medicinal herbs ranged from 0 to 4,481 mg/kg. Approximately 84.6% of the samples contained less than 10 mg/kg of sulfur dioxide and about 10.0% of samples contained more than 30 mg/kg of sulfur dioxide.
