The dyeing property of milling type acid dyes with various chemical constitution were studied in one bath dyeing of Wool/Nylon blended fabrics and the proper dyeing condition to get solid color by using reserving agent was also examined. The result of the experiments can be summarized as follows; 1) Although the effect of pH on dyeing of wool with a highly hydrophiilic dye is great in the dyeing of wool and nylon, the proper pH of dyeing bath is weakly acidic 5, in which levelling dye can be obtained by increasing the solubility product. 2) Under a constant pH, the dye with fewer numbers of sulfonic acid groups increases the dyeing amount of nylon as the concentration of the dye is increased. Thus the appropriate dye for light color is the one with many numbers of sulfonic acid groups and the proper dye for medium and deep color is of fewer sulfonic acid groups for one-bath dyeing. 3) When the dye concentration is greater than the critical depth, the K/S value of wool and nylon was almost not effected or slightly increased.
New synthetic method of aminophosphonic acids by the amination of organoboranes containing phosphorus was developed. Thus, the hydroboration of diethyl 2-propenylphosphonate, diethyl 2-methyl-2-propenyl-phosphonate, diethyl 3-butenylphosphonate with borane-THF, followed by amination of the resulting organoboranes with hydroxylamine-O-sulfonic acid gave diethyl 3-aminopropylphosphonate, diethyl 3-amino-2-methyl-2-propylphosphonate and diethyl 4-aminobutylphosphonate, respectively. 3-Aminopropylphosphonic acid and 4-aminobutylphosphonic, acid were obtained by the hydrolysis of the corresponding esters, respectively.
Various types of acids, such as mineral acids, organic acids, and organic sulfonic acids, were used as catalysts in order to investigate their effectiveness during phenol liquefaction of pine bark. Hydrochloric arid was the most effective acid catalyst of the mineral acids used in this experiment for the phenol liquefaction, but the amount of the acid needed for more than 90% liquefaction was at least 11 mmol. Among the carboxylic acids used triflouroacetic acid (TFA) was effective for the liquefaction, but it was not possible to obtain liquefaction of more than 80%. Organic sulfonic acids, p-toluenesulfonic acid (PTSA) and methanesulfonic acid (MSA), showed remarkable effects for liquefaction, even in small amounts and at low liquefaction temperatures. Especially in the case of PTSA, a 92% liquefaction yield was obtained at the liquefaction condition of 14$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 h. Therefore, it was evident that the PTSA is a good acid catalyst for the phenol-pine bark liquefaction system.

All types of ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ such as acidic, neutral and basic forms were chemically modified with (3-mercaptopropyl) trimethoxysilane (3-MPTMS) and oxidized by 30 wt% $H_2O_2$ solution. As a result, sulfonic acid modified ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ catalysts were obtained. Their formation was achieved more easily by treating 1M HCl solution. Their catalytic performance was tested by dehydration reaction of D-xylose to furfural. The sulfonic acid modified ${\gamma}-Al_2O_3$ catalysts showed high conversion (>90%) of D-xylose, and the selectivity to furfural was increased with the amount of sulfonic acid anchored on the catalyst.
The crystal structure or $\gamma$-hydroxy-$\betha$-aminobutyric acid was determined by MULTAN system with X-ray intensity data on a diffractometer and refined by the least-squares method to an R-value 0.034 for 711 reflections. The crystals were orthorhombic, space group $P2_{1}2_{1}2_{1}$, Z = 4, with a = 10.220, b = 8.257 and c = 6.556$\AA$. The molecule takes the zwitterionic form and skeletal conformation is trans-transform. The molecules are held together by intra-and intermolecular NH-O and OH--O hydrogen bonds.
Lactobacillus sakei S1 strongly inhibits the expression of interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-1β in lipopolysaccharide-induced peritoneal macrophages by a mechanism for which lactic acid bacteria from kimchi that inhibit tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) were isolated. Therefore, we further evaluated the protective effect of this strain on the colitis mouse model induced by 2,4,6-trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid (TNBS). TNBS significantly elevated myeloperoxidase (MPO) expression, macroscopic scores, and colon shortening. Oral L. sakei S1 administration resulted in reduction of TNBS-induced loss in body weight, colon shortening, MPO activity, expression of cyclooxygenase (COX)-2, inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB). L. sakei S1 inhibited the expression of inflammatory cytokines IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-α, induced by TNBS, but enhanced IL-10 expression. L. sakei S1 showed resistance to artificial digestive juices and adherence to intestinal epithelial Caco-2 cells. Thus, L. sakei S1 may inhibit the NF-κB pathway and be used in functional food to treat colitis.
The optimum conditions and rates of absorption of isobutylene in aqueous para-toluene sulfonic acid(PTSA) were studied experimentally in a stirred reactor. The effects of acid concentration(30-70 wt%), acid loading (0.3-5), mixing intensity(400-1000 rpm), and temperature ($20-80^{\circ}C$) on the absorption conditions were examined. The absorption rate of isobutylene was first order in isobutylene and variable order in PTSA concentrations. The apparent energy of activation was found to be 13 Kcal/mole.
In this study, 3-(trihydroxysilyl)-1-propanesulfonic acid (THS-PSA) was added to poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) membranes crosslinked with poly(styrene sulfonic acid-co-maleic acid) (PSSA_MA) to improve the separation characteristics toward water vapors in the air. The prepared membranes varying both PSSA_MA and THS-PSA amounts were also synthesized at different cross linking temperatures. Then, in order to investigate the separation characteristics of the resulting membranes, the dynamic vapor sorption (DVS) and vapor permeation experiments were carried out. The increase of cross-linking temperature showed longer time to reach the equilibrium sorption state from the dynamic vapor sorption experiments. PVA/PSSA_MA (3%)/THA-PSA(7%) prepared at $120^{\circ}C$ gave the highest permeability of 480 barrer at $35^{\circ}C$.
Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) membranes cross-linked with sulfosuccinic acid (SSA) in which poly(4-styrene sulfonic acid-co-maleic acid) (PSSA_MA) was blended to endow more ion exchange capacity were prepared to measure the permselectivities of water-alcohol mixtures by pervaporation separation technique. The feed mixtures of binary aqueous methanol, ethanol and iso-propyl alcohol solution by 90 wt% alcohol portion were used. Typically, for PVA10/SSA9/PSSA_MA90 membrane, the flux of 202.6, 47.8, $20.2g/m^2hr$ for aqueous methanol, ethanol and iso-propyl alcohol solutions was shown while the best separation factors of 34.2, 291 and 991 were given by PVA10/SSA11/PSSA_MA80 membrane. More details are discussed in main text of this article.
