  • This study is to investigate the characteristic on the resistance of chloride infiltration concrete containing limestone powder The variables are the substitution ratio of slag powder and limestone powder. In order to study the effect slag powder and limestone powder, all mixtures were prepared at a fixed water/cement ratio, slump, and entrained air quantity. As results show that the strength and the resistance of chloride infiltration in concrete substitution 10%, 20% limestone powder, and 30%, 40% slag powder are positive.

  • This study was performed to evaluate the compressive strength and acid-resistant of polymer concrete using redispersible polymer powder(RPP) and blast furnace slag powder(BSP). Material used were ordinary portlant cement, recycled coarse aggregate, natural fine aggregate, redispersible polymer powder and blast furnace slag powder. The main experimental variables were the substitution ratio of redispersible polymer powder and blast furnace slag powder, when the substitution ratios of RPP were 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6%, and those of BSP were 10%. The compressive strength and acid-resistant of polymer concrete using RPP and BSP were compared with those of ordinary concrete(Basis). When the substitution ratio of RPP was 1%, at age of 28 days, the compressive strength were more higher than those of Basis by 24%, and it was decreased with increasing the RPP content, respectively. Also, the water absorption ratio was decreased with increasing the RPP content. But, the acid-resistant was improved with increasing the RPP content.

  • 4-Allylanisole was polymerized with AlCl3 as a catalyst. The polymerization was carried out in nitroethane at various temperatures with changing the ratio of the initiator to the monomer concentration. The weight averge molecular weights measured by gel permeation chromatography in chloroform with polystyrene standards were between 1,500 and 4,700. 1H NMR spectroscopy showed that the polymerization proceeded through a stepwise aromatic electrophilic substitution reaction along with a minor chain-reaction, resulting in a branched polymer. 4-Chloromethylanisole was also polymerized with AlCl3 in nitroethane through an aromatic electrophilic substitution reaction to give a high molecular weight polymer (Mw=88,000).

  • Yogurt was prepared with different substitution ratio [10, 30, and 50% (w/w)] of skim milk with enzymatically hydrolyzed purple sweet potato powder (EHPSPP) and fermented at $40^{\circ}C$ for 15 h. Fermentation characteristics and antioxidant activities of the yogurt were evaluated in terms of acid production (pH and titratable acidity) and lactic acid bacterial counts and DPPH radical scavenging activity, respectively. After 15 h fermentation, titratable acidity of EHPSPP yogurt was 0.80-0.89% and was lower than that (0.93%) of yogurt made without EHPSPP. The acid production and the number of viable lactic acid bacterial cell decreased with increasing the substitution ratio. The sensory score of EHPSPP yogurt prepared with 30% substitution ratio showed the highest values in taste and overall acceptability among the tested yogurt preparations. DPPH radical scavenging activity increased with increasing the substitution ratio in yogurt fermented for 12 h. The total phenolic content of 30% EHPSPP yogurt was 40% higher than that of skim milk yogurt. These results suggest that EHPSPP can be used as substituent of skim milk and the optimum substitution ratio is around 30%.

  • This experimental Study presents the strength properties of mortar Using the Blast-furnace Slag Sand. It gives following result. The 3-days and 7-days compression strength is increase as substitution rate is higher. As W/C ratio increase, the strength is decrease. The flexural strength is increase as substitution rate is higher specially. As flexural strength ratio for compression strength is each 16.7%, 21.1%, 25.4% on 3-days, 7-days, 28-days, long age flexural strength is higher than short age.

  • The study was to investigate the quality characteristics of American waffles substituted with 0, 25, 50, 75, and 100% of kamut whole wheat flour (KWF). The KWF samples had maintaining the specific gravity of the batter until the 25% substitution. The spreadability decreased as the ratio of the KWF increased, and the pH of the 100% substitution sample were the lowest. The KWF samples had increasing baking loss rates until the 75% substitution while decreasing the water activity. Lightness and yellowness significantly decreased with increasing the KWF while redness increased. Hardness, chewiness, and gumminess of the 25% substitution sample were the highest, while the springiness and resilience were maximum with the 100% substitution. The KWF samples had increasing overall acceptability, acceptability of color, flavor, and texture until the 50% substitution. The characteristics intensity rating of crust color, bran flavor, and sweetness increased with increasing the KWF. The KWF samples had significantly higher crispiness than the control group. The frequency of the bran flavor, sweetness, nuttiness, and unpleasant increased while the egg and milk flavor, and flour taste decreased. These results suggest that the substitution of the 25~50% KWF could be the optimal to improve the quality characteristics of American waffles.

  • This study is to develop a high quality lightweight foamed concrete that can be applied in the field using EXFG by cracking reducing agent combined with FGD and ALS. First, to increase the volume of foam, the flow and density of the mixture was increased and decreased, respectively. At this time, the effect of substitution ratio of EXFG on fluidity was negligible. The fraction of foam was the highest at EXFG 1%, and the settlement was found to be prevented by the expansion reaction at EXFG 1%. At this time, the ratio of foam was 65%. In the compressive strength, the strengths were similar or decreased when the substitution ratio of EXFG was more than 1%. The apparent density satisfied the KS 0.5 type at the bubble contents was 65%. In case of EXFG substitution, dry shrinkage was decreased by about 10%. As the substitution ratio of EXFG increased, the thermal conductivity increased proportionally.

  • To investigate the properties of high flowing concrete with fly ash and crushed sand for CFT structure, many batches were performed by a trial-error method and the results were analyzed by SPSS software program. In the experiment W/B was set up as 0.25 and the variables were a substitution ratio of fly ash, a blend ratio of crushed sand and the ages of specimens (3, 7, 28 days). The results of this study are summarized as the follows; 1) The increase of the substitution ratio of fly ash, the decrease of dosage of SP and the increase of dosage of AEA due to very fine sphere particle of fly ash. 2) The increase of the blend ratio of crushed sand, the increase of dosage of S/a and water content related with viscosity. 3) Made the high flowing concrete, the increase S/a and the increase the water content.

  • To investigate the properties of high flowing and high strength concrete with crushed sand and fly ash for CFT structure, many batches were performed by a trial-error method. In the experiment W/B was set up three levels as 0.25, 0.30 and 0.35. Also the variables of the experiment were a substitution ratio of fly ash, a blend ratio of crushed sand and the ages of specimens(3, 7, 28 days). The results of this study are summarized as the follows; 1) The effect a substitution ratio of fly ash on the compressive strength was not consistent with age. For twenty-eight day compressive strength, the best result was come out when cement was substituted by 10% of fly ash. 2) The decrease of the water binder ratio, the increase of compressive strength and elastic modulus. Also the relationship is very similar to the case of a normal concrete

  • Part of SB latex in pre-coating color was substituted with newly developed starch-based bio-binder in order to investigate the effect of starch-based bio-binder in pre-coating color on the properties of coating color and coated paper. Smoothness and gloss of coated paper were decreased with the increase of bio-binder substitution ratio. Brightness and whiteness did not show the significant changes, but stiffness was improved with bio-binder. Ink set-off, dry-pick and wet pick were decreased with the increase of bio-binder substitution ratio. In general, when all SB latex is substituted with bio-binder, ink set-off, dry- and wet-pick were deteriorated. However, it was found that if the bio-binder substitution ratio is controlled below 50%, similar qualities with coated paper manufactured by the use of SB latex binder can be obtained.
