${\alpha},{\omega}$-Diols such as 1,6-hexanediol and 1,7-heptanediol react with secondary amines in the presence of catalytic amount of ruthenium complex at 180$^{\circ}$C for 24 hrs to give the corresponding diamino compounds in good yields. The yield of diamino compound was affected by the molar ratio of ${\alpha},{\omega}$-diol to secondary amine. The reaction was also affected by the nature of the phosphorus ligands employed. On the other hand, aromatic primary amines react with 1,2,6-hexanetriol in the presence of RuCl_3{\cdot}H_2O-3PPh_3$ at 180$^{\circ}$C for 3 hours under argon atmosphere to give selectively 1-substituted aryl-3-hydroxyperhydroazepines in good yields. Selective synthesis of these products show that two primary hydroxy groups (1,6-positions) oxidize predominantly than secondary hydroxy group (2-position) by ruthenium-phosphorus complex. The yields were decreased according to the order of para-, meta- and ortho-substituent.
The reaction rates of substituted quinolines (6-Clqui., qui.) with p-substituted benzoylchlorides $(p-CH_3,\;p-H,\;p-NO_2)$ have been measured by conductometry in acetonitrile, and the rate constants are determined at various temperatures (10, 15, 20, $25^{\circ}C$) and pressures (1, 200, 500, 1000 bar). From the values of rate constants, the activation parameters $(Ea,\;{\Delta}V^{\neq},\;{\Delta}H^{\neq},\;{\Delta}S^{\neq}, \;{\Delta}G^{\neq})$and the pressure dependence of Hammett ρ values were determined. The rate constants increased with increasing temperatures and pressures, and are further increased to introduction to the electron acceptor substituents in substrate $(p-NO_2)$ with quinoline. The activation volume and the activation entropy are all negative. And the Hammett p values are negative for nucleophile ${\rho}_X$ and positive for the substrate ${\rho}_Y$ over the pressure range studied. The results of kinetic studies for pressure and substituent show that these reactions proceed through a typical $S_N2$ reaction mechanism and "associative $S_N2$" favoring bond formation with increasing pressures.

A series of dinuclear half-sandwich titanium complexes with aryloxy substituent at titanium$[(\eta^5-cyclopentadienyl)(aryloxy)TiCl_2]_2[(CH_2)_n]$ (n=3, n=6, n=9) have been successfully synthesized and their styrene polymerization properties have been investigated. All complexes are characterized by $^1H\;NMR,\;^{13}C\;NMR$, elemental analysis, and mass spectrometry. In order to examine the catalytic properties of the dinuclear complexes styrene polymerization has beer conducted in the presence of MMAO. It was found that (i) all the prepared complexes were very effective catalyst for the production of SPS (syndiotactic polystyrene), (ii) the complex with the longest bridge between the two active sites exhibited greatest catalytic activity among the three catalysts, but produced SPS with the smallest molecular weight, (iii) the activities of dinuclear half-titanocens with aryloxy substitution at titanium metal were greater than those of the chloride substituted compounds. These results indicate that not only the nature of the bridge between the two active sites but also the property of substituents at the metal exert a significant influence on the polymerization behaviors of the dinuclear half-titanocene.
The herbicidal activities against barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus-galli) by R-groups on the hexahydroisoindol-1-one ring of new 2-(4-chloro-5-(2-chloroallyloxy)-2-fluorophenyl) -3-thioalkoxy-2,3,4,5,6,7-hexahydroisoindol-1-one derivatives were studied using molecular holographic quantitative structure-activity relationships (HQSAR) methodology. Based on the results, the statistical results of the optimised HQSAR model (I-2) exhibited the best predictability and fitness for the herbicidal activities based on the cross-validated value ($r^2_{cv.}$ or $q^2=0.714$) and non-cross-validated value ($r^2_{ncv.}=0.922$), respectively. From the based graphical analyses of atomic contribution maps, herbicidal activities against barnyardgrass were confirmed depends upon the C4-C6 atoms of hexahydroisoindoline-l-one ring, carbon atom of ortho-position and meta-methyl group of 3-tolylthio substituent (8).
Three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationships (3D-QSARs) on the fungicidal activity against damping-off (Pythium ultimum) with N-phenylbenzenesulfonamide and N-phenyl-2-thienylsulfonamide analogues (1-34) were studied quantitatively using CoMFA (comparative molecular field analysis) and CoMSIA (comparative molecular similarity indeces analysis) methodologies. On the whole, the statistical qualities of CoMSIA models with field fit alignment (FF1-FF5) were slightly higher than that of atom based fit alignment (AF1-AF5) but, the deviations of statistical quality between two alignments in case of CoMFA models were slightly lower. The statistical results of CoMFA and CoMSIA model showed that the optimized CoMSIA model (FF1: $r_{cv.}^2\;(q^2)=0.674$ & $r_{ncv.}^2=0.964$) for damping-off is better predictability and fitness for fungicidal activities than CoMFA model (AF5: $r_{cv.}^2\;(q^2)=0.616$ & $r_{ncv.}^2=0.930$). The fungicidal activities according to the information of the CoMSIA (FF1) model were dependence upon the electrostatic and hydrophobic field of the N-phenylbenzene sulfonamide analogues. Therefore, from the results of graphical analyses on the contour maps with CoMSIA (FF3) model, it is expected that the characters of R4-substituent on the N-phenyl ring as hydrophobic and hydrogen bond acceptor will be contributed to the fungicidal activity against damping-off.

Recently, there has been a rise in the number of amphetamine derivatives that serve as substitutes for controlled substances (e.g. amphetamine and methamphetamine) on the global illegal drug market. These substances are capable of producing rewarding effects similar to their parent drug. In anticipation of the future rise of new and similar psychoactive substances, we designed and synthesized four novel amphetamine derivatives with N-benzyl, N-benzylamphetamine HCl (NBNA) substituent on the amine region, 1,4-dioxane ring, ethylenedioxy-amphetamine HCl (EDA), methyl, para-methylamphetamine HCl (PMEA), and naphthalene, 2-(aminopropyl) naphthalene HCl (2-APN) substituents on the phenyl site. Then, we evaluated their abuse potential in the conditioned place preference (CPP) test in mice and self-administration (SA) test in rats. We also investigated the psychostimulant properties of the novel drugs using the locomotor sensitization test in mice. Moreover, we performed qRT-PCR analyses to explore the effects of the novel drugs on the expression of D1 and D2 dopamine receptor genes in the striatum. NBNA, but not EDA, PMEA, and 2-APN, induced CPP and SA in rodents. None of the test drugs have produced locomotor sensitization. qRT-PCR analyses demonstrated that NBNA increased the expression of striatal D1 dopamine receptor genes. These data indicate that NBNA yields rewarding effects, suggesting potential for abuse. Continual observation for the rise of related substances is thus strongly encouraged.
A series of hetero ring (X) substitued chalcone derivatives with farnesyl protein transferase (FPTase) inhibition activities $(pI_{50})$ values determined in vitro is analyzed by modified Free-Wilson (F-W) and Hansch method for quantitative structure activity relationship (QSARs). On the basis of F-W analysis on the FPTase inhibitory activity of a training set of the compounds, none of the (X)-substituents were not contribute the activity. But the net charge of ${\alpha}$ carbon atom is contribute the activity than that of ${\beta}$ carbon atom. And the relative orders of the (Y)-substituents on the activity are ortho>meta>para-substituents. According to Hansch approach, the activities would depend largely on the optimal, $(R_{opt.}=-0.35)$ resonance effect with ortho substituted $(I_o>0)$ electron donating group (R<0) and STERIMOL parameter, $B_1$ constant. The inhibition activity between hetro ring substituents have been a proportioned with each others and none substituent(H), 45 showed the highest FPTase inhibition $(pI_{50}=4.30)$ activity.
Holographic quantitative structure activity relationships (HQSAR) as 2D QSAR between the herbicidal activities against root and shoot of rice plant (Orysa sativa L.) and barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus-galli), and structures of A=3,4,5,6-tetra-hydrophthalimino, B = 3-chloro-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-2H-indazolyl and C = 3,4-dimethylmaleimino substituents in 1-(5-methyl-3-phenylisoxazolin-5-yl)methoxy-2-chloro-4-fluorobenzene derivatives were studied and discussed. The statistical results of four HQSAR models for the herbicidal activities against root and shoot of the two plants showed the best predictability of the herbicidal activities based on the cross-validated $r^2\;_{cv}\;(q^2=\;0.760{\sim}0.924)$, non cross-validated conventional coefficient $(r^2\;_{ncv}\;=\;0.868{\sim}0.970)$ and PRESS values $(0.123{\sim}0.261)$. The results indicated that the qualities of HQSAR models for barnyardgrass were slightly higher than that of rice plant. And also, the predictability of HQSAR models were higher $(q^2\;=\;HQSAR\;>\;CoMFA)$ than CoMFA but the conventional coefficients of HQSAR models lower $(r^2\;=\;HQSAR\;<\;CoMFA)$ than CoMFA. Moreover, from the contribution maps, it was founded that the selectivity between the two plants depends upon the 2-fluoro-4-chloro-5-alkoxyanilino and $R_3$ substituent on the C-phenyl ring. These features suggest where to modify a molecular structure in order to improve its selective of herbicidal activities against barnyardgrass.
A series of the herbicidal N-(4,6-disubstituted pyrimidin-2-yl)aminocarbonyl-2-(1,1-ethylenedioxy-2-fluoro)ethyIbenzenesulfonamides, 1 and N-(4,6-disubstituted triazin-2-yl)aminocarbonyl-2-(1,1-ethylenodioxy-2-flu ore)ethylbenzenosuIfonamides, 2 were synthesized and their herbicidal activities in-vivo against rice(Oryza sativa L.), barnyard grass (Echinochloa crus-galli), bulrush(Scripus juncoides) and pickerel weed(Monochoria vaginalis presl.) were measured by the pot test under the paddy conditions. The structure activity relationships(SAR) between the herbicidal activity$(pI_{50})$ and a various physicochemical parameters of the hetero group and 4,6-disubstituents on the heterocyclic group were analyzed by the multiple regression technique. The SAR suggest that the 4,6-dimethoxypyrimidine substituent, 1a showed selective$({\Delta}obs.pI_{50}=1.12)$ and the most highest activity against barnyard grass, which depend on the hydrophobicity(log P<0) of heterocyclo group and molecular refractivity$((M_R)_{opt.}=14.58cm^3/mol)$ constant of 4,6-disubstituents on the heterocyclic group.
Imidacloprid and a series of the related compounds were synthesized, and influence of 3-N substituents(R) on the insecticidal activities against Brown plant hopper(Nilaparvata lugens) and Green peach aphid(Myzus persicae) were examined quantitatively from the structure-activities relationships(Shh) techniques. The results indicated that the molecular hydrophobicity$({\pi})$ and inductive substituent constant$({\sigma}^{\ast})$ of substituents(R) at 3-nitrogen position on the imidazolidine ring were important factors. Variations in the potency were parabolically related to the both constants. In case of Brown plant hopper, optimum value of ${\pi}$ constant was 0.52, whereas the value of ${\sigma}^{\ast}$ constant against Green peach aphid was 1.17, respectively. Among them, the strong electron withdrawing groups$({\sigma}^{\ast}>0)$ such as methyl and benzenesulfonyl group(7 & 8) showed lower insecticidal activity and non-substituted, 1(imidacloprid) showed the best insecticidal activity. It seems that the intramolecular associated(H-bond) form between 2-N-nitro group and 3-imid group may contribute to the higher insecticidal activity to the both sucking insects. And in aqueous solution, 1 showed higher residual activity below pH 6.0, and the half-life$(T_{1/2})$ was about 6 month at pH 7.0 $(ca.\;k_{obs.}:5{\times}10^{-8}sec.^{-1})$ and $45^{\circ}C$.
