OPTIMIZATION OF LAMINATED COMPOSITE FOR BUCKLING PERFORMANCE

  • Motivated by needs such as those in the aerospace industry, this paper demonstrates ability to significantly increase buckling loads of perforated composite laminated plates by synergizing FEM and a genetic optimization algorithm (GA). Plate geometry is discretized into specially-developed 3D degenerated eight-node shell isoparametric layered composite elements. General shell theory, involving incremental nonlinear finite element equilibrium equation, is employed. Fiber orientation within individual plies of each element is controlled independently by the genetic algorithm. Eigen buckling analysis is performed using the subspace iteration method. Available results demonstrate the approach is superior to more conventional methodologies such as modifying ply thickness or the stacking sequence of individual rectilinear plies having common fiber orientation through the plate.

Finite element model updating of Canton Tower using regularization technique

  • This paper summarizes a study for the modal analysis and model updating conducted using the monitoring data obtained from the Canton Tower of 610 m tall, which was established as an international benchmark problem by the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Modal properties of the tower were successfully identified using frequency domain decomposition and stochastic subspace identification methods. Finite element model updating using the measurement data was further performed to reduce the modal property differences between the measurements and those of the finite element model. Over-fitting during the model updating was avoided by using an optimization scheme with a regularization term.

  • A Data-based Covariance Matrix(DCM) is introduced in the Eigenvector(EV) method, among subspace methods of estimating multiple sinusoidal frequencies from finite white noisy measurements. It is shown that the EV with the DCM can obtain the true. frequencies from finite noiseless data Some asymptotic results and further improvement on the DCM are also presented mathematically. Monte-carlo simulations are statistically conducted from the view-points of means and standard deviations in the EV's of DCM and Conventional Covariance Matrix(CCM). Simulations show a great promise for using the DCM, particularly for the cases of short data records, closely spaced frequencies and high signal-to-noise ratios.

텐서의 비음수 Tucker 분해 (Nonnegative Tucker Decomposition)

  • 최근에 개발된 Nonnegative tensor factorization(NTF)는 비음수 행렬 분해(NMF)의 multiway(multilinear) 확장형이다. NTF는 CANDECOMP/PARAFAC 모델에 비음수 제약을 가한 모델이다. 본 논문에서는 Tucker 모델에 비음수 제약을 가한 nonnegative Tucker decomposition(NTD)라는 새로운 텐서 분해 모델을 제안한다. 제안된 NTD 모델을 least squares, I-divergence, $\alpha$-divergence를 이용한 여러 목적함수에 대하여 fitting하는 multiplicative update rule을 유도하였다.

  • In the case of mechanical control systems, it is highly useful to be able to provide a compact model of the mechanical system to control engineers using the smallest number of variables, while still providing an accurate model. The reduced mechanical model can then be inserted into the complete mechanical control system models and used for system-level dynamic simulation. In this paper, a moment-matching based model order reduction (MOR) which reduces the number of degrees of freedom of an original finite element model via the Arnoldi process is considered to study the dynamic responses of a HDD actuator and suspension system.

  • A solution method is presented to solve the eigenproblem arising in tile dynamic analysis of non-proportional damping systems with symmetric matrices. The method is based on tile use of Lanczos method to generate a Krylov subspace of trial vectors, witch is then used to reduce a large eigenvalue problem to a much smaller one. The method retains the η order quadratic eigenproblem, without the need to the method of matrix augmentation traditionally used to cast the problem as a linear eigenproblem of order 2n. In the process, the method preserves tile sparseness and symmetry of the system matrices and does not invoke complex arithmetics, therefore, making it very economical for use in solving large problems. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of the method.

  • This paper proposes a stability condition in switched system and then, introduce design method of fuzzy-model-based controller which guarantees the stability. Takagi-Sugeno(75) fuzzy model is employed to design a switching-type fuzzy-model-based ,controller. Furthermore, it is proposed that the design method stabilizing continuous and discrete-time 75 fuzzy model respectively. Each controller in each subspace stabilize the subsystem respectively. In order to guarantee the stability of the global system, it is required to guarantee the stability condition in boundaries with subsystems. The condition which guarantees the stability in boundaries is presented in this paper. Inverted Pendulum system is employed to execute computer simulations. In this computer simulation, the performance of the proposed controller is verified by the control result.

  • 본 논문에서는 신호의 반 파장 간격으로 안테나 소자를 배치한 빔형성 시스템에서 다이버시티 이득을 얻을 수 있는 빔형성 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘은 수신 신호 공간을 스팬(span)하는 고유 벡터들을 이용하여 빔형성 한다. 본 논문에서는 채널 추정을 위한 최적의 고유 공간 차수를 정하기 위한 기준도 제안한다. 제안된 알고리즘을 적용한 빔형성 시스템은 기존의 빔형성 시스템과는 달리 각 퍼짐이 증가함에 따라 다이버시티 이득을 얻어 그 성능이 개선된다. 본 논문은 제안된 알고리즘의 설명과 함께 다양한 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통한 제안 알고리즘의 성능 분석을 제공한다.

퍼지엔트로피를 이용한 비선형신호의 해석 (The Analysis of Nonlinear Signal using Fuzzy Entropy)

  • 본 논문의 목적은 퍼지 엔트로피를 이용하여 비선형신호를 예측하는 것이다. 이 방법은 분할된 여러 부 공간(subspace)에 대해 입력 데이터로부터 퍼지 엔트로피를 이용하여 각각의 규칙에 등급을 정하여 불필요한 제어규칙을 제거하여 바람직한 규칙베이스를 구성하도록 한 것이다. 적용되는 퍼지 신경망의 기본적인 구조는 퍼지 제어기의 규칙베이스와 추론의 과정을 신경회로망을 이용하여 구현하며 퍼지 제어규칙의 매개변수들은 역전파 알고리즘에 의해 적응되어진다. 또한 매개변수의 수를 줄이기 위하여 제어규칙의 결론부의 출력값은 신경망의 가중치로 구성하였다. 결국 퍼지 신경망의 복잡도를 줄일 수 있다. Mackey-Glass 시계열의 예측에 대한 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통하여 본 논문에서 제안한 방법의 효율성을 입증하고, 제안된 방법을 EEG 생리신호 분석에 이용될 수 있다.

Eigenspace를 이용한 신경회로망 기반의 로봇 위치 인식 시스템 (Neural Network-based place localization for a mobile Robot using eigenspace)

  • This paper describes an algorithm for determining robot location using appearance-based paradigm. This algorithm compress the image set using PCA(principal component analysis) to obtain a low-dimensional subspace, called the eigenspace, and it makes a manifold that represent a continuous-appearance function. To determine robot location, given an unknown input image, the recognition system first projects the image to eigenspace. Neural network use coefficients of the eigenspace to estimate the location of the mobile robot. The algorithm has been implemented and tested on a mobile robot system. In several trials it computes location accurately.
