  • As the deployment of digital learning environment has been accelerating in rapid changes in information and communications technology, a tool is required to practically measure and evaluate the level of information education (IE) for freshmen in the University in order to propose an appropriate direction of IE in a teachers college. According to such current trends, ICT literacy is a tool to assess a specific level of capabilities such as a variety of real-world problem-solving skills, creativity, critical thinking, analytic reasoning, and communication skills. This study has developed a test tool to measure ICT literacy competence on the basis of the concept of test questions defined from the previous research. It was used to measure ICT literacy competence of 360 university freshmen of education and analyze if there is a difference among them depending on overall ICT literacy levels and genders, content areas, competence factors, and completion of IE course in high school. The result of this study would be expected to determine the current location of IE for freshmen in the University of Education and to be able to take advantage of basic data of the direction for IE course that university students need to essentially acquire in preparation for the coming future.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the change of clothes in modem Korean women in terms of a socioeconomical background, the introduction to western clothes, and the improvement of clothes between the opening period of ports in the early 1900's and 1960's. In addition, the study investigated how western clothes became popular in a Korean society along with the traditional' Korean clothes, Hanbok. The radical social change since the opening of ports motivated the change in the way of Korean women's thinking, and consequenty the improvement of Hanbok which developed into the clothes-improvement-movement. It was not until 1905 that the improvement of clothes was hotly debated particularly in the matter of abolishing Jangeui and the extreme length of Jeogori and Chima. The Tongchima-Jeogori style which lengthened Jeogori and shortened Chima was widely accepted as everyday wear until the western clothes substituted them after the Independence from Japanese Conquest. As the length of Chima shortened, there occurred a change in Boson and Jipsin as well. There appeared shoes and Gomoosin in place of Jipsin, socks in stead of Boson and were popularized until after the Liberation in 1945. The popularity of Gomoosin diminished markedly with the diversification of shoes styles, due to the improvement of the standard of living with economic development in the 1960's. The traditional Hanbok was gradually differentiated according to the social status, for instance student, teachers, ordinary women, girls and Kisaeng. Especially since the white clothes caused much trouble in washing and sewing, there came into being the movement of wearing colorful clothes. The Movement of abolishing white clothes and promoting of wearing colorful clothes was enforced during the period of Japaness conquest from the 1920's to the Liberation, which consequently stimulated an interest for colors of clothes. The period under the war between 1937 and 1945 was especially noted for the extreme regulation over the clothes. The Japanese government forced each group of women, e.g., girl students, a young women's association, school teachers, and ordinary women and girls, to wear their own uniforms. Also, It recommended the use of Tongchima in stead of long skirts, and buttons in place of Coreum so as to conserve textile encouraging the use of other substitutes to save resources. The western clothes, a model of clothe's improvement was deemed as a symbol of modernization and enjoyed general popularity. The supply of relief clothes after the Korean war accelerated the expansion of western clothes even further and the trend of westernization along with economic progress in the 1960's resulted in wearing of western clothes as everyday dress. The expansion of western clothes as casual wear rapidly diminished wearing of Hanbok which in turn took the position of ceremonial dress worn in special cases only. Hence the Korean women's clothes were dualized into traditional Hanbok and western clothes and the western clothes that stems on its convenience was settled as everyday wear where as the Hanbok appeared as ceremonial dress stressing on ornamental features. As mentioned aboved, we are able to discovered an orientation in the course of transitional process of modern Korean women's clothes admist diversified changes, which is a consistent pursuit of convenience and practicality based upon progmatism. The trend such as this carne into a finale' as women's dress became dualistic in forms of Hanbok and western clothes, and the change since then is supposed to proceed in two forms of dress featuring its own style.

  • In general, curriculum is a product of the process of a political decision-making among a variety of peoples who have different perspectives on learners, knowledge, and society as a whole. And also, it is being affected by larger social and political contexts. As curriculum has become more a centerpiece of program activity for the gifted, the field has more emphasized the importance of viable curriculum models. The purpose of this article is to reflect current status of curriculum development for the gifted, explain the commonness and differences of several perspectives on gifted education programs, and lastly, share some experiences to deliberate about several critical issues of which any activity of program development for the gifted should consider. According to Eisner & Valiance (1974), there are five conceptions of curriculum which have shaped the thinking of many educators of what a view of curriculum for the gifted might be ; curriculum as the development of cognitive process, curriculum as technology, curriculum as personal relevance, curriculum as social construction, curriculum as academic rationalism. Although educators have a freedom to choose among these various curriculum orientations, the most effective curricular incorporate or balance all of them to some extent. After reviewing those perspectives on curriculum and several difficulties which are currently confronted at the site of curriculum development, this article have tried to identify the major curriculum efforts of the gifted education field. It focuses on the issues of developing programs for gifted and talented students, rather than on specific program models. As a result, it suggested seven critical issues or value conflicts which should be considered in the process of program development for the gifted: the balance of domain-general abilities of the gifted and domain-specific abilities, mutual consideration of accelerated learning and enrichment learning, separate organization of contents versus integrated organization, the balance of cognitive domain of human development and affective domain, official curriculum versus non-official education experience, individual-oriented learning situation versus group-oriented teaming, and expert-centered approach versus practitioner-centered approach to curriculum development.

  • This paper tries to find out about organizational and managemental aspect of Korean curriculum through a comparison between Korea's 7th elementary mathematics curriculum and that of Japan's elementary mathematics curriculum, which will start in m2 through researching various literatures. The main characteristic of this elementary mathematics curriculum is that Korea has organized a teaming program that tended to individual differences, and focused on student-centered activities and communication based on constructivism. On the other hand, Japan reduced learning contents a lot by running 5-schooldays a week so that 80% of teaching time can be spent to help the students master mathematical contents of the textbook. This leaves 20% of teaching time to be used for improving mathematical thinking power as a foundation of creativity through mathematical activities. Korea's teaching time spent for elementary mathematics is about 80% of Japan's, which is also less than that of other country's. Less time in teaming mathematics will lead to decrease in teaming ability. Therefore, there is a need for increased teaching time in mathematics. Korea's revision of curriculum is about 5 years which is often compared to that of Japan's 10 years. Frequent revising is good in that it reflects the social demand, but it can cause much confusion and problems in accepting and applying its program in a real classroom setting, which is why it needs to be looked at again. The direction, objective and assesment of revision fits the demands of international trends and essentials of mathematics. Japan puts its emphasis on learning through repetition and Korea puts its emphasis on problem solving and communication. Regarding assesment, both Korea and Japan is looking for ways to find various assessing ways which will focus on mathematical process rather than the mathematical results, and also will put emphasis on criterion-directed assesment to measure goal achievements. However Japan emphasize on using report cards of assesment to help mathematics learning.

  • The new paradigm of the 21st Century science education explores a wide range of possibilities that can foster students' interest toward science and creative convergence thinking. In this study, through the analysis of programs that were developed in 'STEAM leader school' and 'STEAM teacher association for research' supported by the 'Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology,' we analyzed the linking frequency with each of STEAM education's fields and teachers' perception for the convergence strategy of technology and engineering. The results of this study show that linking frequency of technology and engineering is lower than the field of arts and mathematics in elementary school, but higher in middle and high school. 'Introduction technology contents in lives' in technology and 'crafts activity' in engineering are the most used teaching and learning strategy in STEAM education. But, although 'crafts activity' is engineering's major way of learning, many teachers understand and use it as a technological teaching learning strategy. It is important to understand that each of STEAM education's field has a unique nature and educational implications, for the effective settlement of STEAM education, we need to consider teaching and learning strategy in various way.

  • I discussed how the Zen training could be used to previous acting training methods focused on the way draw efficiently subconsciousness in the process of the training of actors. It is believed that the practice of the Zen would contribute to the development of training subconsciousness of actors. I examined the validities of the Zen practices which could be helpful to young students and existing actors' training processes and started from the existing proven analyses of mental and psychological effects of it. It is certain that the practices of Zen is a new continent which has infinite possibilities of analyzing and studying in terms of thinking highly of the Zen and brain science together. If we would utilize the Zen efficiently in the course of training actors, we could achieve four elements: the first, a trigger to operate actors' subconsciousness, the second, establishing the presence of actors through the reinforcement of concentration, the third, overcoming any mental and psychological obstacles, and the fourth, the establishment of transformation skills through the combined use of left and right brains. Additionally, actors could have mental and psychological stability through the Zen practice in their daily lives. I believe that we could also find a unique Eastern actor training way through vigorous and practical following analyses and practices which are based on the Zen tradition for training actors' subconsciousness and unconsciousness.

  • This study was conducted with the aim of providing the basic data for an informative and educational program designed to give a guideline how to keep and care the skin healthy and proper. Female freshmen, enrolled in colleges in Jeonbuk provincial area, were surveyed about their status of health and way of skin care and make-up. The results of research were summarized as follows: First, 268 students(65.4%) were 19 years old or younger. Among the respondents, 219 persons(54.4%) lived in small or medium cities and 271(66.1%) showed less than 20 of body mass index($kg/m^{2}$). Second, there were statistically significant correlations between dwelling place, drinking habit(p<0.05), and subjective health status(p<0.05) with health, skin care and make-up habit. Third, drinking, subjective health status appeared to be significant variables affecting facial skin(p<0.05) and health status(p<0.01), respectively. Forth, smoking and regular meal seemed to affect the length of make-up(p<.05) and smoking esd strongly connected with the extent of make-up. The way of thinking about cosmetics were affected by the habits of drinking(p<0.05) and smoking(p<0.01), respectively. Drinking habit was the significant variable of health affecting on the belief in the effect of cosmetics. Fifth, skin health was negatively correlated with drinking and smoking habits and positively with subjective health status, BMI($kg/m^{2}$) and frequency of make-up. Sixth, healthier state of facial skin appeared to be happened with statistical significance(p<0.01) in rural areas than in urban areas and with a person of higher than 20 of BMI($kg/m^{2}$) than of less than 20 from the regression analysis. It has been estimated that there were meaningful correlations between the status of health and make-up among female freshmen. Accordingly, the concept of health reinforcement can be adopted to skin care and skin maintenance, so various and comprehensive approaching methods were required to improve and reinforce the skin management and cosmetic culture.
