A two-color particle image velocimetry (PIV) has been developed for measuring two dimensional velocity flowfields and applied to a Mach 2.0 supersonic nozzle. This technique is similar to a single-color PIV technique except that two different color laser beams are used to solve the directional ambiguity problem. A green-color laser sheet (532 nm: 2nd harmonic beam of YAG laser) and a red-color laser sheet (619 nm: output beam from YAG pumped Dye laser using Rhodamine 640) are employed to illuminate the seeded particles. A high resolution (3060${\times}$2036) digital color CCD camera is used to record the particle positions. This system eliminates the photographic-film processing time and subsequent digitization time as well as the complexities associated with conventional image shifting techniques for solving directional ambiguity problem. The two-color PIV also has the advantage that velocity distributions in high speed flowfields can be measured simply and accurately by varying the time interval between two different laser beams due to its high signal-to-noise ratio and thereby less requirement of panicle pair numbers for a velocity vector in one interrogation spot. The velocity distribution in the Mach 2.0 supersonic nozzle has been measured and the over-expanded shock cell structure can be predicted by the strain rate field. These results are compared and analyzed with the schlieren photograph for the velocity distributions and shock location.
By combining the multi-faceted environmental responsiveness of polymer hydrogels with photonically active structures, there has been a significant effort to create color-tunable photonic crystal sensors by changing either the periodic spacing of the structure or the dielectric constants of the materials. Here, we show that reversible spiral and helical opal switches with both dimensional and optical functionalities that respond to environmental chemistry can be constructed. When the transparent opal switch is swollen in hydrophilic acetic acid, right-handed spirals and helices that exhibit angularly dependent colors from Bragg diffraction are formed. When the transparent opal switch is swollen in hydrophobic hexane, left-handed spirals which exhibit angularly dependent colors from Bragg diffraction are formed. When the transparent opal switch is swollen in hydrophobic hexane solvent, a left-handed spiral and helix with an angularly independent bluish color is formed. After deswelling, all switches returned back to the transparent planar state. These color-tunable, reversible spiral and helical opal switches can be useful as mechanical actuators, and electrical devices as well as optical components.
This thesis, concerning Femme Fatale Images Costume Form in paintings viewed from DeLong's Theory, analyzed frequency and traits on the basis of DeLong's Form Observation Theory and drew out the result as followings. First, Costume Form was mostly open, whole, planer integration, rounded, and indeterminate. The styles were similar each other. Second, surface structure was expressed by line & shape, color, texture, and pattern of which color had the highest priority. Next, line & shape and texture had the priority in order. They were expressed through intereaction. Third, the traits of Costume Form were a similar color harmony or large light and darkness contrast+soft quality+interaction by ambiguous line & shape. So, Femme Fatale Image in paintings was expressed by soft and pure images and erotic images.

In this paper, the white organic light-emitting diode(OLED)was fabricated using the DPVBi of blue emitting material and a rubrene of orange color of fluorescent dye by vacuum evaporation processes. The device structure of OLED was Glass/ITO/2T-NATA(15nm)/NPB(3nm)/DPVBi(3nm)/DPVBi rubrene[2%](10nm)/DPVBi(25nm)/$Alq_3$ or New-ETL(60nm) /LiF(0.5nm)/ Al(100nm). The device with the $Alq_3$, layer shows orange color, and the luminance of 1000cd/$m^2$ at an applied voltage of 10.4V. On the other hand, the New-En layer results in white color, CIE coordinates of (0.327, 0.323), and the lowered driving voltage of 5V for achieving the same luminance value.

This paper describes the structure, operation, image processing, and decision making techniques of a color machine vision system designed for the automatic sorting of soybeans. The system consists of feeder, conveyor belt, line-scan camera, lights. ejector, and a PC Unlike manufactured goods, agricultural products including soybeans have quite uneven features. The criteria for sorting good and bad beans also vary depending on inspectors. We tackle these problem by letting the system learn the inspecting parameters from good samples selected manually by a machine user before running the system for sorting. Real-time processing has another importance In the design. Four parallel DSPs are employed to increase the processing speed. When the designed system was tested with real soybeans and the result was successful.
Structural and optical characteristics in Se thin film fabricated by EBE method had been studied. Se thin film was deposited with noncrystalline until substrate temperature of >$100^{\circ}C$ Color of its surface had red genealogy, and its optical energy band gap was about 2.45 eV. But Se film was grown with monoclinic at substrate temperature of over >$150^{\circ}C$ Also, color of its surface had gray genealogy, and its optical energy band gap was about 2.31 eV. Finally, after heat-treatment at >$150^{\circ}C$ for 15 min with substrate temperature of >$100^{\circ}C$ noncrystalline Se was proved to be hexagonal, and color of its surface had dark gray genealogy, and its optical energy band gap was about 2.06 eV. From the results, it was known that Se thin film for photoelectric device with the lowest optical energy band gap was accepted from hexagonal structure.
Tandem OLED structures formed by connecting two or more low-voltage electroluminescent units (stacks) are effective for achieving high efficiency at low current density as well as long operational lifetime. We have fabricated white emitting tandem structures with two or three low-voltage white-emitting stacks using transparent organic "PN"-type connectors. Three- stack white tandem structures with efficiency greater than 24 cd/A at D65 and operational stability of about 110,000 h. (extrapolated) at $1000\;cd/m^2$ have been demonstrated. With a stacked structure, the power consumption for displays using an RGBW format can be reduced by 25% compared to previously described formulations. We have also fabricated advanced white tandem structures where the color gamut (NTSC x,y ratio) has been improved to greater than 70% using standard color filters. The white OLEDs can also be used to increase the colorrendering index CRI (>80%), an important consideration for solid-state lighting.
LCDs with an additional white sub-pixel (RGBW LCDs) have been developed mainly to achieve higher panel transmittance. However this RGBW pixel structure causes the perceptual color difference between RGBW and RGB LCDs due to decreased primary color luminance. To solve this problem, we proposed and developed RGBW conversion algorithms that function adaptively as a displayed image changes. The test results show that the perceptual color difference could be solved to some degree by applying these new algorithms.
We demonstrate color video displays driven by carbon nanotube electron field emitters. These nanotubes are incorporated into the device by selective growth using low temperature chemical vapor deposition. The device structure is simple and inexpensive to fabricate, and a 45 V switching voltage enables the use of low cost driver electronics. The prototype units are sealed 4.6” diagonal displays with 726 um pixels. They represent a piece of a 42” diagonal 1280x720 high definition television. The carbon nanotube growth process is performed as the last processing step and creates nanotubes ready for field emission. No activation post-processing steps are required, so chemical and particulate contamination is not introduced. Control of the nanotube dimension, orientation, and spatial distribution during growth enables uniform, highquality, color video performance.
The independent operation of a color filter for incident polarization is demonstrated using a guided-mode resonance (GMR) filter employing a metal-insulator-metal (MIM) waveguide. To achieve independent operation, a rectangular MIM grating is proposed as a wave-guide resonator. The design considerations are discussed and include how to determine the grating period and slit width. Power flow distribution is observed with slit width variation. Blue-green, green-red, and blue-red filters for corresponding x- and y-polarizations are demonstrated as application examples with numerical simulation with rectangle-shaped MIM grating. As a practical application, feasibility as a chromatic polarizer is discussed.
