  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify and compare social capital measurement tools for the convenient use in public health studies. Method and result: This study examined and compared social capital tools developed individually by the World Bank, the OECD, the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland, and Korea. A comprehensive framework was constructed with six conceptual dimensions and sixteen indices. The six dimensions included Membership, Network, Trust, Information and communication, Social and civic participation, and Social cohesion and exclusion, which connoted the structural, cognitive, bonding, bridging, operative, and output elements. The indices of each tool were respectively matched to the indices of the comprehensive framework. The comprehensive tools were Integrated Questionnaire for the Measurement of Social Capital (SC-IQ) of the World Bank with 27 questions and the European Social Survey (ESS) of the OECD with 80 questions. Conclusion: The SC-IQ should be utilized in public health studies due to its simplicity yet comprehensiveness as a social capital tool. The ESS should also be considered as a comprehensive tool.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the this study was to examine the mediating effect of resilience on the relationship between social capital - family, school, and community - and self-rated health in adolescents. Methods: The study is a secondary data analysis based on a cross-sectional design, using the data of 2016 Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS). The study analyzed the data of 2,001 adolescents by descriptive analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and structural equation modeling, using the SPSS and AMOS program. Results: The model's fit was adequate ($x^2/df=4.51$, CFI=.98, RMSEA=.04, SRMR=.02). The adolescents' social capital - family, school and community - had direct effects on their self-rated health. Resilience was found to play a partially mediating role in accounting for self-rated health. Conclusion: Resilience partially mediated the relationship between social capital and self-rated health in adolescents. Based on the results of this study, nursing strategies to build and strengthen social capital at the family, school and community level and to promote resilience are needed to improve the health of adolescents.

The study sample consists of services listed companies on Amman Stock Exchange. The study used panel data for the period 2014-2018 with a sample size of 230 observations. SPSS software was used to analyze the collected data. The regression results indicate a significant relationship between, IC and firm performance. When CEO Duality is incorporated into the model as a moderator, there is an increase in the R2 by 7.9%. The findings from this study expand the theoretical underpinning of corporate governance research by identifying the performance implications of CEO duality within the Jordanian context. It also contributes significantly to the literature review about the current status of the practices taken in the intellectual capital components efficiency among companies listed on the Amman Stock Exchange. • Online brand communities have become a major component of marketing strategy given that these communities encourage participation and share the culture of Web 2.0 core concepts to Internet users. This study investigated the effects of social capital and knowledge quality on the success of online brand communities. A research model suggests that trust among members and the identification derived from social capital theory and knowledge quality influence individual community participation; knowledge quality also influences brand trust. In turn, community participation and brand trust develop brand loyalty. The model was empirically analyzed using structural equation modeling with data from online brand community members in Korea. The results indicate that identification and knowledge quality significantly affects brand trust and brand loyalty through community participation. This study provides a basis for developing a success model for online brand communities. Also, this study identifies a new role of knowledge quality in an online brand community context.
