This study was done to identify campus life stress, self-esteem and health promotion behavior of university students and to provide basic data for the qualitative improvement of health promoting behavior of young adult. The data were obtained from distributing structured questionnaires to 491 university students in Busan. It was collected from July. 2th to the Agu. 2th of 2012, and analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and Multiple stepwise regression. The correlation between health promotion behavior and self esteem showed to be positivity correlated(r=.180, p<.001). Also the correlation between health promotion behavior and campus life stress showed to be negativity correlated(r=-.231, p<.001). Life stress(Challenges stress) and Self-esteem were significant predictor and accounted for 13.4% of the variance in health promotion behavior of university students. Therefore it is important to develop programs that increase their self-esteem and is required to prepare a program for the development of health promoting behaviors early adult.
It is well known that NtMEK2, a tobacco MAPK kinase, is the upstream kinase of both salicylic acid-induced protein kinase and wound-induced protein kinase. In addition, expression of $NtMEK2^{DD}$, a constitutively active mutant of NtMEK2, is known to induce multiple defense responses in tobacco. In this study, transgenic rice plants that contained an active or inactive mutant of NtMEK2 under the control of a steroid inducible promoter were generated and used to determine if a similar MAPK cascade is involved in disease resistance in rice. The expression of $NtMEK2^{DD}$ in transgenic rice plants resulted in HR-like cell death. The observed cell death was preceded by the activation of endogenous rice 48-kDa MBP kinase, which is also activated by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae, the bacterial blight pathogen of rice. In addition, prolonged activation of the MAPK induced the generation of hydrogen peroxide and up-regulated the expression of defense-related genes including the pathogenesis-related genes, peroxidases and glutathione S-transferases. These results demonstrate that NtMEK2 is functionally replaceable with rice MAPK kinase in inducing the activation of the downstream MAPK, which in turn induces multiple defense responses in rice.
We investigated the work-life balance of clinical professors in charge of patient care, research, and education at medical schools and the demand for work-life balance support according to position (professor, associate professor, or assistant professor). In total, 163 clinical professors completed the consent form and participated in the study. They filled out an online survey consisting of questions about essential characteristics, a work-life balance test, stress, burnout, work-life satisfaction, and work-life balance support needs. We analyzed the results by analysis of variance and cross-tabulation using IBM SPSS ver. 23.0. Differences were found in work-life balance, stress, burnout, and satisfaction with life and work by position. The requirements for support for work-life balance also varied by professional status. Professors had a higher balance between life and work than associate professors or assistant professors. The specific requirements for work-life balance support were also slightly different for each position. Overall, there was a high demand for work process simplification and efficiency for work support, flexible working hours and sabbatical years for family and leisure, and career management consulting and training support for growth. Assistant professors and associate professors had a lower level of work-life balance than professors, as well as higher levels of stress and burnout. Professors' job satisfaction was also higher than that of the other groups. Based on the results of this study, we hope that a healthy work environment can be established through work-life balance support suitable for clinical professors' positions.
Hair growth cycles are mainly regulated by human dermal papilla cells (hDPCs) and human outer root sheath cells (hORSCs). Protecting hDPCs from excessive oxidative stress and hORSCs from glycogen phosphorylase (PYGL) is crucial to maintaining the hair growth phase, anagen. In this study, we developed a new PYGL inhibitor, hydroxytrimethylpyridinyl methylindolecarboxamide (HTPI) and assessed its potential to prevent hair loss. HTPI reduced oxidative damage, preventing cell death and restored decreased level of anagen marker ALP and its related genes induced by hydrogen peroxide in hDPCs. Moreover, HTPI inhibited glycogen degradation and induced cell survival under glucose starvation in hORSCs. In ex-vivo culture, HTPI significantly enhanced hair growth compared to the control with minoxidil showing comparable results. Overall, these findings suggest that HTPI has significant potential as a therapeutic agent for the prevention and treatment of hair loss.

E. intermedium Blocontrol activity of a P. chlororaphis rhizobacteium O6, depends to the synthesis of extracellular secondary metabolites and exoenzymes, thought to antagonize the pathogenicity of a variety of phytopathogenic fungi. The production of secondary metabolites and exoenzymes in O6, depends essentially on the GacS-mediated signal transduction pathway, which activates largely unknown signal transduction pathway. To exploit the GacS-mediated signal transdcution pathway involved in activation of ph genes that are necessary for biosynthesis of phenazine from P. chlororaphis O6, we cloned and sequenced the phz operon, rpoS gene encoding stationary specific sigma factor, ppx gene encoding polyphosphatase, and lon gene encoding ion protease. Expression of each gene in wild type and GacS mutant were analyzed by RT-PCR. Transcripts from rpoS, phzI enconing acylhomoserine lactone (AHL) synthase, and ph structural genes in the GacS mutant were reduced in each of these growth phases compared to the wild type. The GacS or Lon mutant was found to be deficient in the production of phenzines, exoenzymes, and the acylhomoserine lactone. These mutants were not complemented by ph operon and addition of exogenous AHL. These results indicate that the GacS global regulatory systems controls phenazine production at multiple levels. Future research will focus to identifying the GacS-mediated regulatory cascade involving in production of phenazine in P. chlororaphis.
Objectives: The purpose of the study is to investigate the correlation between stress and oral health in some high school students. Methods: The subjects were 224 students from three high schools in Daejeon, Daecheon, and Incheon. from November to December, 2015. A self-reported questionnaire was filled out from November to December, 2015. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects, awareness toward stress, stress-coping pattern, oral health-related quality of life and oral health care. Data were analyzed by SPSS 18.0 program. Results: In the analysis of academic stress level by the general characteristics and stress level, higher stress group showed higher experience in stress expectation(high group 16.43, subgroup 9.21), internal stress(high group 13.97, subgroup 6.16), expression type stress(high 10.06, sub-4.95). The higher stress group had emotional stress management in stress-coping pattern and less experience in difficulty of tooth brushing, chewing discomfort, and oral health-related quality of life management(p<0.001). Conclusions: The stress had a negative impact on the oral health related quality of life. The high school students should be able to manage the physical and mental stress. It is necessary to provide the continuous oral health care management against the stress by the dental hygienists.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the structural relationship among the life stress, depression, suicidal ideation of adolescent. Methods: Participants for this study included 285 students from five middle schools located in Seoul and Gyeongsangbukdo, Korea. The SPSS 18.0 program and AMOS 18.0 program were used for analysis of data. Results: The characteristics of this study were to analyze causal relationship with latent variables by considering measurement error and to grasp direct effect, indirect effect and total effect. Life stress and depression were found to be factors influencing suicidal ideation. Depression was a direct factor and life stress was a indirect factor. The effects of depression as a mediator between life stress and suicidal ideation were significant statistically. Conclusion: The findings of this study may provide useful assistance in development of effective nursing interventions for prevention and management of middle school students' suicidal ideation.
The p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) is involved in various processes, including stress responses, development, and differentiation. However, little information on p38 MAPK in insects is available. In this study, a p38 MAPK gene, $Accp38b$, was isolated from $Apis$$cerana$$cerana$ and characterized. The quantitative real-time PCR (Q-PCR) analysis revealed that $Accp38b$ was induced by multiple stressors. Notably, the expression of $Accp38b$ was relatively higher in the pupae phase than in other developmental phases. During the pupae phase, Accp38b expression was higher in the thorax than in the head and abdomen and higher in the fat body than in the muscle and midgut. Immunohistochemisty showed significant positive staining of Accp38b in sections from the brain, eyes, fat body, and midgut of $A.$$cerana$$cerana$. These results suggest that Accp38b may play a crucial role in stress responses and have multiple aspects function during development.

Polyamines (putrescine, spermidine and spermine) play pivotal roles in plant defense to different abiotic and biotic stresses. In order to understand the function of ginseng spermidine synthase gene, a key gene involved in biosynthesis of polyamines, transgenic plant was generated in Arabidopsis. The transgenic plants exhibited high levels of polyamines compared to the untransformed control plants. We investigated the tolerance capacity of transgenic plants to abiotic stresses such as salinity and copper stress. In addition, transgenic plants also showed increased resistance against one of the important fungal pathogens of ginseng, the wilt causing Fusarium oxysporum and one of important bacteria, bacterial blight causing Pseudomonas syringae. However, an activity of the polyamine catabolic enzyme, diamine oxidase (DAO) was increased significantly in F. oxysporum and P. syringae infected transgenic plant. Polyamine catabolic enzymes which may trigger the hypersensitive response (HR) by producing hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$) seem act as an inducer of PR proteins, peroxidase and phenyl ammonium lyase activity. The transgenic plants also contained higher antioxidant enzyme activities, less MDA and $H_2O_2$ under salt and copper stress than the wild type, implying it suffered from less injury. These results strongly suggest an important role of spermidine as a signaling regulator in stress signaling pathways, leading to build-up of stress tolerance mechanisms.
This study was conducted to classify photosynthesis rate and changes of rutin content of Korean buckwheat (cv. Chunchon-jaerae and Yangjeul-memil) treated with salinity, UV-C and low temperature. In case of cv. Chunchon-jaerae and Yangjeul-memil, according to the salt stress, transpiration rate, stomatal conductance and photosynthesis rate were decreased. Both cultivars also showed decrease of transpiration rate and photosynthesis rate under the UV-C. Rutin contents within leaf and stem of cv. Yangjeul-memil were decreased when NaCl concentration was high. Rutin contents within leaf and stem of cv. Yangjeul-memil were generally decreased when the time laps under the UV-C stress. Rutin contents within leaf and stem of cv. Chunchon-jaerae was also generally decreased when the time laps under the low temperature stress.
