Background: This study was performed to review the research trends in the treatment of obsessivecompulsive disorder with Morita therapy in China. Methods: We searched articles in the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) regarding Morita therapy and "obsessive-compulsive disorder" in medicine and the public health field. And 23 studies were selected and classified. Five before-after comparison studies and 18 randomized controlled trials were performed in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder in China. Results: Morita therapy and western medicine were used for the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Most of the studies reported that groups treated with Morita therapy as well as western medicine showed much positive results than those groups treated with western medicine alone. Conclusions: According to this study, Morita therapy for obsessive-compulsive disorder would be an effective and safe intervention. Further clinical studies on the use of Morita therapy in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder should be done in Korea in the near future.
Tic disorder which is purposeless, repeated, unexpected, involuntary behavior and voice can be divided into motor, vocal tic. Tic disorder belongs to pediatic psychosomatic disease. In four clinical cases, patients between the age of 6 to 15 consisted of three males and one females. They all are the eldest or only son and have the parental behavioral, home background and studing problem. The patients appealed to eye blinking in tic early stage and belong to chronic motor or vocal tic disorder or transient tic disorder without tourette's disorder. When estimated by an appraisal standard of Yale Global Tic Severity Scale(YGTSS). Four patients administered Bosimgeunatang known to invigorating the heart, relieving mental stress improved.
Objective : The purpose of this study was to develop the somatization rating scale (SRS), and then to use the scale in clinical pracitice. Methods: First, a preliminary survey was conducted for 109 healthy adults to obtain 40 response items. Second, a preliminary questionnaire was completed by 215 healthy subjects. Third, a comparison was made regarding somatization responses among 242 patients (71 with anxiety disorder. 73 with depressive disorder, 47 with somatoform disorder, and 51 with psychosomatic disorder) and 215 healthy subjects. Results : Factor analysis yielded 5 subscales : cardiorespiratory and nervous responses, somatic sensitivity, gastrointestinal responses, general somatic responses, genitourinary, eye and muscular responses. Reliability was computed by administering the SRS to 62 healthy subjects during a 2-week interval. Test-retest reliability for 5 subscales and the total score was significantly high, ranging between .86-.94. Internal consistency was computed, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ for 5 subscales ranged between .72-.92, and .95 for the total score. Convergent validity was computed by correlating the 5 subscales and the total score with the total score of the global assessment of recent stress (GARS) scale, the perceived stress questionnaire (PSQ), and the symptom checklist-90-revised (SCL-90-R). The correlations were all at significant levels. Discriminant validity was computed by comparing the total score and the 5 subscale scores of the patient and control groups. Significant differences were found for 5 subscales and the total score. Only the depressive disorder group was siginificantly higher than control group in all the subscale scores and total scores of SRS among 4 patient groups. In somatic sensitivity, only depressive disorder patients were significantly higher than the normal controls, whereas in general somatic subscale, depressive disorder and somatoform disorder groups were significantly higher than the normal controls. In total scores of the SRS, female subjects were significantly higher than males. Conclusion : These results indicate that the SRS is highly reliable and valid, and that it can be utilized as an effective measure for research in stress- and somatization-related fields. The depressive disorder and somatoform disorder groups showed more widespread somatization than the anxiety and psychosomatic disorder groups.

Objective : To obtain the incidence rate of anxiety disorders among the active duty Korean military personnel, who visited the military hospitals from 2011 to 2013, this descriptive epidemiological study was performed. Methods : After acquiring the data for the anxiety disorders from Defense Medical Statistics Information System, the annual incidence rates were analyzed by forces, position status, and specific disease entities. Results : One thousand, nine hundred and thirteen (1,913) active duty male military personnel were diagnosed with any kinds of anxiety disorders in their first visit to the psychiatric outpatient department (OPD). The total OPD visit counts were 7,870 during the same period. Anxiety disorder, NOS was the most frequent disorder, followed by panic disorder. While the incidence rate for anxiety disorder, NOS decreased, panic disorder displayed increasing tendency. Stress-related disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder were positioned third and fourth, respectively, for the number of first visit and they both showed decreasing tendency in annual incidence rates. Social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and mixed anxiety-depressive disorder followed next. The annual incidence rates for anxiety disorders showed decreasing tendency, particularly evident in army soldiers. However, naval officers showed higher anxiety disorder incidence rate compared to those of the army and the air forces. Conclusion : Comparing to general population, panic disorder was higher while specific phobias and GAD were lower in the Korean military. It is interesting to observe higher incidence rate for anxiety disorder in naval officers and warrants further evaluation.
According to many studies, a large number of police officers who had recently been exposed to an emergency situation has serious psychological stress and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD) symptoms impact on morale, absenteeism, occupational health, early retirement, family relationships. However, in Korea as it looked during the empirical study of police officers with PTSD had a few. In this study, levels of PTSD among police officers to identify and respond accordingly was to seek ways. The officer's PTSD levels vary according to the study is the relatively high level, when compared to firefighters is a relatively high level. So, I suggested some countermeasures. I presented discovery and management of high risk police officers, distribution of critical incident stress management, introduction of employee assistance programs, active intervention of colleagues and family members, training of stress management techniques.
Purpose: In this study differences in behavioral problems between children at risk for Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and normally developing children were identified. Further, relationships between parental stress, depression, and child behavioral problems according to ADHD symptoms were explored. Methods: Participants were 222 elementary school children and their parents. The ADHD risk group was determined by the Korean-ADHD Rating Scale. Data were collected using the Korean-ADHD Rating Scale, Korean version of Child Behavior CheckList (K-CBCL), Parenting Stress Index, and Beck Depression Inventory. Data were analyzed using t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and regression analysis. Results: 1) The ADHD risk group showed higher levels of behavioral problems, parenting stress, and maternal depression than the normal group. 2) There were significant relationships between ADHD scores and parenting stress (r=.66), maternal depression (r=.35), internal behavioral problems (r=.47), and external problems (r=.55), but, ADHD risk scores were negatively correlated with social competence (r=-.40). 3) The regression analysis revealed that ADHD levels affected the child's internal behavioral problems, mediated by maternal depression ($\beta$=.29, p<.001). Conclusion: The study results show that higher risk scores for ADHD indicate a significant effect for behavioral problems. Also, parenting stress and depression influence child's behavioral problems. These results suggest that identification of children at risk for ADHD and development of parental education programs would contribute to the prevention of behavioral problems and aggravation of the ADHD symptoms.
This study aimed to evaluate musculoskeletal workload associated with the work of hair designers, to identify the factors associated with work-related stress, depression and musculoskeletal symptoms in Hair Designers, and to check the painful areas based on patients who complained of musculoskeletal symptoms. The data were collected from 279 hair designers in Daegu metropolitan city from February 1 to August 31 of 2009. A summary of the results was as follows : According to work-related stress in study subjects, the degree of stress load was relatively higher in association with the working demand, the relational conflicts and the organizational culture, but the degree of stress was found to be relatively lower in association with the physical environment, work-related autonomy, an insufficient compensation and an occupational instability. People engaged for beauty business have gotten lots of stress because of the endless needs from customers, the pressure of the learning new skills and the uncomfortable working environment. These are able to cause the musculoskeletal disorder. Under this circumstance, small fries do not have any prevention managements for improving the musculoskeletal diseases and they are not afforded to have regular checkup. When teaching the people related with beauty business, it is necessary to provide accurate information like correct carriage to reduce musculoskeletal disorder stress.
This study is for examining the differences of perceived stresses and family strengths between the parents according to socio-demographic backgrounds(age, educational level, income and the degree of disorder) of the parents having mentally retarded children. The results were as follows. First, in the overall perceived stress level, there was no difference between fathers and mothers, but when compared in stress areas, fathers experience more distresses in general interpersonal areas than mothers. Fathers also shows differences according to the degrees of their income and their perception about disorder compared with mothers showing differences according to the degree of income. Second, there were no differences in family strengths perceived by both fathers and mothers, but were significant differences according to the level of education and income. Another words, higher the education and income level, higher is their family strengths level. Third, there were positive correlations between the perceived stresses and family strengths, and significant differences in family strengths according to the stress level(higher/lower part of the group). In other words, when the perceived stress level is high, the level of perceived family strengths is low.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the infuluential variables between general character, social support and stress of family caregivers for disordered elderly family and family supporters for general elderly. The study was conducted through interviews with 177 family caregivers and questionaires with 218 supporters in Taegu and Kyeongbuk province. The data were analysed with the spss $pc^+$ statistical package using frequency, correlation, multiple regression, and path anaysis. As results of this study were as follows: Disordered elderly family; degree of physical and psychological disorder, caring-time per day, social support are important factors affecting the stress. General elderly family; digree of physical and psychological disorder, monthly family income, social support are important factors affecting the stress.
Objectives: This study was performed to review the research trends in the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder in traditional Chinese medicine. Methods: We searched articles in the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) using keywords, “ Posttraumatic stress disorder” , and “ PTSD” in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Traditional Chinese Medicinal Herbs and Combination of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Western Medicine field.
