Evaluation of Root Characters Associated with Lodging Tolerance by Seedling Test in Rice

  • Rice seedling test was conducted to check the loging tolerance at ripening stage through evaluating the root characters. Thirteen Korean and foreign rice cultivars with direct seeding adaptable or high quality characteristics were grown in a cell pot and under submerged paddy. The root characters and pushing resistance of rice hill were determined at seedling and ripening stage, respectively. The diameter of crown root at the 7th and 8th leaf stages was thicker in lodging tolerance cultivars than those of others and showed significant-positive correlation with both pushing resistance and crown root diameter of mature plants. Also, the tensile strength of crown root at the 7th and 8th leaf stage showed highly positive correlation with the tensile strength of crown root of mature plants. The number of crown root at 7th leaf stage was significant-positively correlated with that of mature plant. The diameter of seminal root was not significantly correlated with the diameter of crown root throughout the whole growth stage. These results indicate that the diameter, tensile strength and number of crown root associated with root lodging tolerance can be detected with the seedling at about 7th or 8th leaf stage, and the seedling test using the cell pot is an useful and practical method to select lodging tolerant cultivars or lines of rice based on root characters, especially diameter of crown root.

소나무의 해부학적 특성과 종압축강도와의 관계 (Relationship between Compression Strength Parallel to Grain and Anatomical Characters in Pinus densiflora S. et. Z.)

  • This study was carried out to find the relationship between anatomical characters and compression strength parallel to grain of Pinus densiflora S. et. Z., the representative conifer species in Korea. The results were as follows ; 1. The compression strength parallel to grain increased with the increase of tracheid length and wall thickness. The strength, however, decreased with the increase of height of uniseriate ray and microfibril angle. 2. The major factors affecting compression strength parallel to grain in heartwood were radial diameter of latewood tracheid and wall thickness of earlywood tracheid but length and tangential diameter of latewood tracheid were the important factors in sapwood.

소설 등장인물의 텍스트 거리를 이용한 사회 구성망 분석 (Analysis of Social Network According to The Distance of Characters Statements)

  • 복잡계 과학의 발달에 따라 많은 사회 네트워크들이 분석되고 있다. 사회 네트워크는 현재 인문, 경제, 웹 사이언스 등 다양한 분야에 응용되고 있다. 최근, 소설의 등장인물을 이용한 네트워크와 실제 사회 네트워크의 특성을 비교하는 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 그러나 기존의 등장인물 네트워크는 대부분 미리 정리된 인명사전을 이용하므로 주요한 몇몇 인물들 사이의 연관성은 밝힐 수 있으나, 한번 이상 등장한 모든 인물의 전체적인 사회적 구조는 설명하지 못하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 소설로부터 등장인물을 직접 추출하고, 등장인물 사이의 거리를 사용하여 상관관계를 설정하여 네트워크를 구축한다. 제안방법은 소설 텍스트로부터 등장인물의 출현빈도와 등장인물들 사이의 연관성의 발생 빈도를 이용하여 연관성 가중치를 구할 수 있으며, 이 연관성 가중치를 사용하여 노드의 수를 조절하여 K-critical 네트워크를 구성한다. 제시한 K-critical 네트워크는 분석대상 소설에 등장하는 인물들끼리 얼마나 긴밀하게 연관되어 있는지를 정량적으로 파악하는 매우 중요한 정보를 줄 수 있음을 실험을 통하여 제시할 수 있었다.

Damage of scarf-repaired composite laminates subjected to low-velocity impacts

  • The damage characters of scarf repaired composite laminates subjected to low-velocity impact with various energy levels at different locations are studied experimentally. The results are compared with those of the original laminates which have no initial damage and don't need repair. The impact load-time history of the specimens, the velocity-time curves of the impactor, the post impact compressive strength of the specimens and the C-scan photographs of the damaged regions are obtained. The delamination threshold load and damage character of the specimen section at impact point are also studied. The results have shown that the impact response of a repaired composite laminate is sensitive to the location of the impact. The impact load and the delamination threshold load have shown different characters for specimens with different impact locations. The debonding characters of the adhesive and compressive strength after impact of the specimens are also influenced by impact locations.

  • The shear strength of rock discontinuities is very important in many rock engineering project including analysis of tunnel and slope. But shear strength of rock that acquired through discontinuity shear test is different from soil shear test and more complex. Shear strength is effected by the factors which are various, but it is the best influence of filling material and joint roughness. In this research, we studied shear strength characters of natural joint of phillite that was placed importance on joint roughness, JRC is less low than 8.

SFRC구조물의 휨거동에 관한 해석적 연구 (Analytical Study of Flexural Behavior on Steel Fiber Reinforced Concrete Structure)

  • Various characters of the concrete are greatly improved as the effect of the steel fiber. As the improvement effect of the steel fiber, the increment in flexural strength, shear strength, toughness, and impact strength are remarkable, and tenacious concrete is obtained. This paper presents model which can predict mechanical behavior of the structure according to aspect ratio and volume fraction of steel fiber. Experiments on compressive strength, elastic modulus and tensile strength were performed with self-made cylindrical specimens of variable aspect ratios. This paper presents an analytical study on the behavior of a beam specimen with steel fiber reinforced concrete(SFRC). The effect of the SFRC on the crack pattern, failure mode and the flexural behavior of the structure were investigated. The analysis model based on the nonlinear layered finite element method was successfully able to find the necessary amount of steel fibers, tensile steels and beam section which can best approximate flexural strength and ductility of a given conventionally reinforced concrete beam.

성격강점기반 집단상담 프로그램이 청소년 대중문화 예술인의 행복감에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Group Counseling Program Based on the Strength of Characters on the Happiness of Youth Popular Culture Artists)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 대중문화예술인들의 행복감에 긍정적인 효과를 줄 수 있는 성격강점기반 집단상담프로그램을 구성하고 그 효과를 검증하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 서울시 및 경기도 소재 연예기획사와 예술고등학교 소속 예술인 중 16명을 모집하여 실험집단과 통제집단으로 배정하고, 두 집단 모두에게 성격강점과 행복검사지로 사전·사후 검사를 실시하였다. 프로그램의 효과 검증을 위해 실험집단은 주 1회, 회기당 60분씩 총 8회기의 성격강점 프로그램을 시행하였으며, 통제집단은 무처치 하였다. 연구결과 프로그램에 참여한 집단의 성격강점과 행복감이 통제집단에 비해 유의하게 향상되어 성격강점을 강화하는 훈련은 청소년 대중문화 예술인들의 행복을 증진시켜 보다 행복한 삶을 영위할 수 있음을 보여주었다. 이는 대중문화 주체들의 정신건강을 관리하는 시작점을 만들었다는데 그 의미가 있으며, 결과를 토대로 후속연구를 위한 제언과 시사점을 논의하였다.

버즘나무의 해부학적 성질과 종압축강도와의 관계 (The Relationship Between Anatomical Characteristics and Compression Strength Parallel to Grain of Platanus orientalis L.)

  • This study was carried out to get some basic information on mechanical properties of Platanus orientalis L. for the rational utilization of this wood. Relationship of anatomical characteristics with compression strength parallel to grain was analyzed using stepwise regression technique. All possible combination of 8 independent variables were regressed on compression strength parallel to grain. The summarized results in this study were as follows: 1. The compression strength parallel to grain increased with the increase of wood fiber length and wood fiber width. The strength, however, decreased with increase of number of pore per $\textrm{mm}^2$ and tangential diameter of pore. 2. The major factors affecting compression strength parallel to grain in heartwood were length of wood fiber and number of pore $per{\;}{\textrm{mm}^2}$ but width of wood fiber and length of vessel element were the important factors in sapwood.

  • This paper is concerned with a fracture strength study of composite adhesive lap joints. The tensile and peel tests were carried out on specimen manufactured hybrid stacked composites such as the polyester and bamboo natural fiber layer. The main objective of the work was to test the failure strength of adhesive bonded joints using hybrid stacked composites with a polyester and bamboo natural fiber layer adjacent to the fiber orientation. From results, the load directional orientation, small amount and low thickness of bamboo natural fiber layer have a good effect on the tensile and peel strength of natural fiber reinforced composites. and these characters are have a great influence on fracture strength and failure shape of adhesive bonded joints using hybrid stacked composites in the difference of fiber orientation.

  • Green strength is an important property of powders since high green strength guarantees easy and safe handling before sintering. The green strength of a powder compact is related to mainly mechanical and surface characters, governed by interlocking of the particles. In this study, the effect of powder surface roughness on the green strength of iron powders was investigated using a transverse rupture test. Three-dimensional laser profiler was employed for quantitative analyses of the surface roughness. Two different surface conditions, i.e. surface roughness, of powders were compared. The powders having rough surfaces show higher green strength than the round surface powders since higher roughness leads increasing interlocked area between the contacting powders.
