  • We consider the estimation problem for the scale parameter of the Rayleigh distribution using weighted balanced loss function (WBLF) which reflects both goodness of fit and precision. Under WBLF, we obtain the optimal estimator which creates a kind of balance between Bayesian and non-Bayesian estimation. We also deal with the estimation of R = P(Y < X) when Y and X are two independent but not identically distributed Rayleigh distribution under squared error loss function.

  • The dynamic force estimation and strength design of KALES(Korea Accelerated Loading and Environmental Simulator) are studied. The KALES is continuously rotating the test track and subjected to the dynamic or impact forces during operation since the track is composed of straight and curved line. To estimate the dynamic equation for the model car which was already made is derived with analytical and experimental techniques. Using similarity relationships between the model car and KALES, the dynamic force and stability properties for KALES can be predicted. The stress analysis and fatigue life estimation of KALES is also estimated with the calculated dynamic load. From the stress analysis and fatigue life estimation results, it was found that the design of KALES is safe.

  • ;The consicErations for reminder life of transmission line is gradually higher. It is requisite for investigation of ACSR's life to test tensile load of ACSR as a fundamental data. It is vary important to analysis correlations between results of tensile load testing and elasped years. Estimation of ACSR's life can be obtained by statistics processing using mechanical experirrental results. It is a general method to use regression analysis as a statistics processing technique. In this paper, we did experiment on tensile strength of ACSR by using a new and old ACSR as sample experirrental materials. The limit of life estimation is decided by basic line using twenty percentage reduction of rate tensile strength. This basic line is like to results of Canada Ontario Hydro-research. There are $95[\textrm{mm}^2]$, $97[\textrm{mm}^2]$, $120[\textrm{mm}^2]$, $240[\textrm{mm}^2]$ ACSRs which are experimented on this study. 1be life estimation of these ACSR is presented by table 1 to be obtained through the linear regression and nonlinear regression analysis. SPSS and statistics toolbox of matlab is used for analysis.lysis.

  • This paper proposes J and CTOD estimation schemes applied to fracture toughness testing, covering typical homogeneous and bi-material specimens. Recommendations are based on the plastic limit analysis (either slip line field or finite element limit analyses), assuming the rigid plastic material behavior. The main outcome of the present study is that the J and CTOD estimation schemes (both codified and non-codified), recommended for homogeneous specimens, can be equally used for bi-material specimens with interface cracks. The effect of yield strength mismatch in bi-material specimens on the J-integral CTOD is discussed.

  • The estimation of the strength and other mechanical parameters characterizing the tensile behavior of granites can play an important role in civil engineering tasks such as design, construction, rehabilitation and repair of existing structures. The purpose of this paper is to apply data mining techniques, such as multiple regression (MR), artificial neural networks (ANN) and support vector machines (SVM) to estimate the mechanical properties of granites. In a first phase, the mechanical parameters defining the complete tensile behavior are estimated based on the tensile strength. In a second phase, the estimation of the mechanical properties is carried out from different combination of the physical properties (ultrasonic pulse velocity, porosity and density). It was observed that the estimation of the mechanical properties can be optimized by combining different physical properties. Besides, it was seen that artificial neural networks and support vector machines performed better than multiple regression model.

  • This study was performed to suggest a theoretical method of flexural capacity of 'Hybrid Beam'. Since the center of 'Hybrid Beam' is composed of embedded composite beam section, a theoretical method of embedded composite beam could be applied to estimation of flexural capacity of 'Hybrid Beam'. In this study, a theoretical evaluation method for flexural capacity of embedded composite beam, which is suggested by KBC 2005, is chosen and its applicability is evaluates as comparing theoretical results with experimental results. In results, for estimation of theoretical ultimate strength, it is proper method that both effects due to concrete and rebar are considered and whole section is assumed to be plastic. and for estimation of theoretical strength at yielding stste, it is proper to apply allowable stress design.

  • As the residual displacement and/or drift demands are commonly used for seismic assessment of buildings, the estimation of these values play a very critical role through earthquake design philosophy. The residual displacement estimation of fixed base structures has been the topic of numerous researches up to now, but the effect of soil flexibility is almost always omitted. In this study, residual displacement demands are investigated for SDOF systems with period range of 0.1-3.0 s for near-field and far-field ground motions for both fixed and interacting cases. The elastoplastic model is used to represent non-degrading structures. Based on time history analyses, a new simple yet effective equation is proposed for residual displacement demand of any system whether fixed base or interacting as a function of structural period, lateral strength ratio and spectral displacement.

  • A three-way catalyst substrate for domestic passenger car satisfies the design criteria for exhaust gas exchange and pressure drop but does not have satisfactory thermal fatigue performance. Prefracture faults in this three-way catalyst substrate has often been discovered in vehicle repair or vehicle inspection facilities. This paper presents a thermal fatigue performance estimation method for a three-way catalyst substrate using a probabilistic strength reduction factor model. This method is superior to the thermal fatigue performance estimation method for a three-way catalyst substrate that uses a deterministic strength model.
