Interactions between a propeller and vortex system contained in a ship stern flow is treated theoretically. A new formulation to determine the effective velocity distributions is developed, which may be immediately applicable to the design and analysis of compound propulsors under the influence of severe vortical cross-flows around ship stern. An axisymmetric shear flow is represented by a system of ring vortices and the axial variation of the stream lines due to the action of propeller is represented by a cubic function. The strengths of ring vortices, which are varying along the stream lines, are determined by the conservation of angular momentum. Two simplified effective velocity models are proposed to confirm the theory. Sample calculations using the simplified models are made to compare with the results by other investigators.

In this study, we analyzed the flooded area around Samcheok Middle School caused by typhoons MAYSAK·HAISHEN in September 2020. To analyze the confluence of Samcheok Osipcheon, local stream Deungbongcheon, we utilized Iber, a two-dimensional hydraulic model. We simulated the water depth and flood extent based on the peak flows on September 3 and September 7, 2020, and the 80 year and 100 year frequency floods. The simulation results showed that the 80-year frequency flood and the 100-year frequency flood on September 7 were insignificantly different, but the maximum flow rate from September 3 to September 7 was significantly different at 401 m3/s, resulting in a difference of 0.8 m in water depth and 7.1 m2 in flood area. In addition, the analysis that considered only the contour lines using contour lines predicted inundation of not only the Samcheok Middle School playground but also the building, confirming the need to apply DSM.
The methodology to visualize the shape of blood vessel and its blood flow have been attracting as a very interesting problem to forecast and examinate a disease in thrombus precursor protein. May previous visualization researches have been appeared for designing the blood vessel and also modeling the blood flow using a doppler imaging technique which is one of nondestructive testing techniques. General visualization methods are to depict the blood flow obtained from doppler effects with fragmentary stream lines and also visualize the blood flow model using volume rendering. However, these visualizeation techniques have the disadvantage which a set of small line segments does not give the overall observation of blood flows. Therefore, we propose a visualization system which reconstruct the continuity of the blood flow obtained from doppler effects and also visualize the blood flow with the vector field of blood particles. This system will use doppler phase difference from medical equipments such as OCT with low penetration and reconstruct the blood flow by the curvature estimation from vector field of each blood particle.
The functions of the plug valve are the control of flow rate as well closing and opening pipe lines. Analyses on the flow characteristics in plug valve port are required to improve the performance and safety at severe operating conditions such as high-pressure and high-temperature. In this study, numerical analyses are carried out with varying the opening rate (fraction of the full open to close) of the valve and the shapes of valve Uk: straight, convex, concave and mixed shapes. The parameters influencing the flow characteristics in the valve are the discharge coefficient( $C_v$) and the resistance coefficient( K). Therefore, the distributions of static pressure, velocity vector and stream lines are investigated, and $C_v$ and K are calculated in each opening rate and shape. In case of full open, the static pressure passed through the valve port has almost been recovered. However, in case of other opening rates, the pressure does not permanently regained due to pressure drop leading to loss. This phenomenon in each shape of the valve shows the different behaviors. Calculation results show that the mixed shape has the best flow attribute.

Developing a minimum wave resistance hull form which is satisfying the given requirements such as displacement and speed is one of the important problems in ship hydrodynamics. The theoretical approach conducted by Pien was successful in developing an optimized hull form, however, which can not be applied directly to practical hull form without manual lines fairing process. To avoid this difficulty, source distribution which arrived after the optimization was put into a fictitious restricted channel and as a result practicably modified hull form was derived by stream line tracing. The wave resistance of the hull thus obtained was calculated by solving the simplified integral equation suggested by Kan. The resistance at design point is almost same with that of the original hull which was represented by source distribution on the vertical rectangular center plane. It is therefore recommended to use the derived hull form for the hull which obtained after manual lines fairing process at Pienoid method. Further researches both in theory and experiment are necessary before this concept is put into practical application.
The purpose of this treatise is to study external form and internal meaning of minimal expression fashion which appeared as a major stream in modern fashion trends to understand one aspect of modernism in fashion and also to gain insight into internal value of human beings through fashion. The results can be summarized as follows : Firstly , minimalism is a trend in art attempting to seek essence of the object by presenting simple and disciplined expressions by minimal formative means and minimal production process. Secondly, minimal expression in fashion means seeking simplicity an dpurity by using minimum design elements and minimal productive process. Thirdly, external from of minimal expression fashion can be created through application of following minimal expression techniques. 1. Minimal expression techniques in terms of line mean smooth curve flowing along body contours, straight lines of diagonal lines into desciplined silhouette or rendering internal contour lines. 2. Minimum expression techniques in terms of forms mean forms of smooth curves flowing along boyd or forms with simple geometric forms from qualitative aspects, In terms of volume it means quest for essence of pure body itself by revealing body as it is by minimizing the size of dress or its area and herein is contained using simple geometric pattern or utilizing textiles without any patterns.3. Minimal expression techniques by colors mean simple colors such as primary colors, colors without clear distinctions or natural colors and in terms of quantity it means quest for one color within one item of dress or combination of each items when getting dressed. 4. Minimal expression techniques in terms of fabrics mean fabrics with simple surfaced. In terms of quantity it means quest for essence of tight fitting thin textiles to human body or using transparent materials to human body thus exposing body contours as it is. 5. Minimal expression techniques in terms of productive process mean minimizing process of tailoring , sewing or ornamenting and seeking for simplicity and purity. 6. Minimal expression techniques in terms of manufacturing process mean selection of technique conveying simple image with disciplined simple image. Fourthly, minimal expression fashion with external expression as mentioned in the above lay body-priority style and its internal meaning can be asummed as quest for essence and purity of human body.

An accurate analysis procedure to solve the flow about a flat plate at various incidences has been developed. The Navier-Stokes equations of stream function and vorticity form are solved in a sufficiently large computational domain, in which the grid lines are mutually orthogonal. The details of the flow near the singularity at the tip of the plate is well captured by the analytic solution which is asymptotically matched to the numerically generated outer solution. The solution for each region is obtained iteratively : the solution of one (inner or outer) region uses that of the other as the boundary condition after each cycle. The resulting procedure is accurate everywhere and also computationally efficient as the singularity has been removed. It is applied to the flat plate for a wide range of Re : the results agree very well with the existing computation and experiment.
Radiative transfer programs have been developed to simulate near-IR spectra of Titan. The formalism of the radiative transfer calculations includes the absorption and emission lines of $CH_4$, $C_2H_2$, $C_2H_6$, and HCN, and continua produced by Titanian haze particles. Absorption and scattering of sunlight by haze particles are considered by employing a two-stream approximation and a spherical-shell model for the atmospheric layers of Titan. Various constraints on the radiative transfer calculations for generating synthetic spectra will be discussed and presented. Several examples of comparisons between the synthetic spectra and recent spectral observations of Titan will also be presented.

A high speed frame synchronization system has been realized which generates the frame sync clock from 565Mb/s data stream (the DS-5 digital multiplex hierarchy signal). The design of a frame pattern detector using a parallel detection method brings into low speed operation and resolves the problems due to the high speed operation. The frame synchronization algorithm recommended by CCITT is also realized by designing a sync mode controller. Appropriate design procedures are considered for an efficient hardware design and minimized connection lines. The CAD simulation as well as experiment show that the performance of the newly designed frame synchronization system satisfies the relevant requirements.
Biopolymer membrane was prepared using two oppositely charged natural biopolymers. The biopolymer membrane was used for the encapsulation of two hybridoma cell lines(ATCC CRL-1606, ATCC HB-8852) to produce monoclonal antibodies. In order to reduce the down stream steps, the pre size of the membrane was controlled to retain the monoclonal antibodies in the capsules based on the diffusion experiments with standard proteins. T-flask culture showed cell densities of 8$\times$107 cells/mL and 3$\times$107 cells/mL, and MAb concentrations of 506$\mu$g/mL and 109$\mu$g/mL for encapsulated ATCC CRL-1606 and HB-8852, respectively. Two liter perfusion cultures with encapsulated ATCC HB-8852 were performed to enhance the MAb production. The MAb production of the encapsulated hybridoma increased considerably comparing to the culture using silicon tubing for oxygen transfer.
