The present article investigates empirically whether non-reciprocal trade preferences (NRTPs) offered by QUAD countries (Canada, the European Union, Japan, and the United States) to developing countries have helped to promote economic growth in the beneficiary countries. Two main blocks of NRTPs are considered here: Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) programs and other trade preferences programs. The analysis used a set of 90 beneficiary countries of NRTPs that are concurrently recipients of development aid over the period of 2002-2018. Using the two-step system generalized method of moments, the analysis indicated that while a higher degree of utilization of each of these two blocks of NRTPs has been associated with a high economic growth rate, development aid enhances this positive effect. This highlights the need for donors to support a development strategy based on the provision of both development aid and NRTPs if they are to help beneficiary countries to promote economic growth. Finally, when the positive economic growth effect of the utilization of NRTPs is higher, the result is a greater country's share of exports (under preferential tariffs) to QUAD countries out of their total merchandise exports.

Lung cancer remains a deadly disease with unsatisfactory overall survival. Resveratrol (Res) has the potential to inhibit growth of several types of cancer such as prostate and colorectal examples. In the current study, we evaluated in vitro and in vivo anticancer efficiency of Res in a xenograft model with A549 cells. Cell inhibition effects of Res were measured by MTT assay. Apoptotis of A549 cells was assessed with reference to caspase-3 activity and growth curves of tumor volume and bodyweight of the mice were measured every two days. In vitro cytotoxicity evaluation indicated Res to exert dose-dependent cell inhibition effects against A549 cells with activation of caspase-3. In vivo evaluation showed Res to effectively inhibit the growth of lung cancer in a dose-dependent manner in nude mice. Therefore, we believe that Res might be a promising phytomedicine for cancer therapy and further efforts are needed to explore this potential therapeutic strategy.

Bioenergy emerges as a promising option for achieving the sustainable growth. However, bioenergy has poor cost competitiveness to the fossil fuels such as oil and coal. So many countries either developed or developing actively works for the implementation of various bioenergies. In this paper, the various supporting policies for the activation of the bioenergy business in the developed countries have been analyzed. Through the work, the desirable strategy for the promotion of bioenergy in our country have been suggested.

Antibiotics used to be supplemented to animal feeds as growth promoter and as an effective strategy to reduce the burden of pathogenic bacteria present in the gastro-intestinal tract. However, in-feed antibiotics also kill bacteria that may be beneficial to the animal. Secondly, unrestricted use of antibiotics enhanced the antibiotic resistance in pathogenic bacteria. To overcome above problems, scientists are taking a great deal of measures to develop alternatives of antibiotics. There is convincing evidence that probiotics could replace in-feed antibiotics in poultry production. Because they have beneficial effects on growth performance, meat quality, bone health and eggshell quality in poultry. Better immune responses, healthier intestinal microflora and morphology which help the birds to resist against disease attack were also identified with the supplementation of probiotics. Probiotics establish cross-feeding between different bacterial strains of gut ecosystem and reduce the blood cholesterol level via bile salt hydrolase activity. The action mode of probiotics was also updated according to recently published literatures, i.e antimicrobial substances generation or toxin reduction. This comprehensive review of probiotics is aimed to highlight the beneficial effects of probiotics as a potential alternative strategy to replace the antibiotics in poultry.

Traditionally, the target of manufaturing technology strategy was derived in a efficiency, cost and productivity. So most activities of the manufacturing brought focus into the engineering technology, equipments and research and improvement of new products to maximize the efficiency. As a resell of this legacy, most of the activities of manufacturing has been executed on the method of quality improvement, development of new equipment to incense the efficiency and the research of materials for new products. Those trends, however overlook the operation management activities which is very important as a assets in competitive strategy. But the market enviornment of morden manufacturing companies faced to the uncertainty and complexity. So they need capability of competition which requires new concept of manufacturing technology strategy to grasp the competitive advantages. In this point of view, this paper deal with the empirical study in korean manufacturing technology strategy of the electic and electronic industry. For the empirical study, check list was made to survey the 98 manufacturing companies. The analysis procedures are as below. First, identify the manufacturing technology group an product structure group by each variable. Second manufacturing technology variables are segmented into product technology and vertical integration, suborder and infrastructure, to analyse the decision making pattern which derive the strategy groups. Third, by the fitness analysis between product structure group and manufacturing technology group, the economic results of a growth rate of sale and a profit rate of sale are tested. In this approach, fitness analysis between product structure group and manufacturing technology group show, as a whole, the no significant values in economic results of the company. But investigating the statistical values shows the trend that econmic result of the complany is somewhat higher when the degree of fitness of manufacturing technology strategy by product structure has high value. Concluding the remarks, the competitive advantages of company lies not in the efficiency of manufacturing systems but in the way of the structure and decision making pattern of the manufacturing system. And the cons i stoney between strategy target and manufacturing technology strategy, and the consistency of manufacturing technology strategy and product structure are the term of competitive advantages.

It is widely confirmed that online retailers can obtain crucial resources and greater growth potential by depending on the external web portal sites as it is explained in resource dependence theory. Nevertheless, recent studies show that the effect of dependence may not always be beneficial for firms and stress the importance of finding relevant contingent factors. In this study, we identify and suggest that firms' age and niche width strategy, whether generalist or specialist, are contributing factors on moderating the positive relationship between resource dependence and firm growth. To test our hypotheses based on the theory, we have collected monthly web traffic data of online retailers and portals from March 2000 and July 2008. The empirical results lend support to our theory of the firm age having a negative interaction effect on web traffic dependence. Moreover, results verified that positive effect of depending on the portals may become greater if the online retailer is a specialist in terms of niche width.

As the growth of Internet business, many web sites have been developed their own Internet business strategies. Yet, many web sites have difficulties to make profit. In this paper, an economic model is developed to analyze web sites' quality and pricing strategies when they initiate their services as free services and develop advertising services and other charged services. By analyzing the economic model, optimal quality and prices was found. And by analyzing the optimal strategy, I found that web sites should properly decide their market share on initial customer. Finally, the importance of web sites' productivity to make profit is emphasized.

Purpose - This dissertation is based on previous research, and analyzes processing trade, which constitutes a major section of foreign trade in Shandong Province. Research design, data, and methodology - The study uses the survey data on polarization, which is a vital index reflecting the unbalanced growth of regional economic development. The article introduces the processing trade polarization index, and the processing trade polarization fluctuation rate, to predict the geographical polarization posture and development trends in Shandong Province. Results -The development of processing trade in Shandong Province shows the level of gradient from east to west. The first-line growth pole has been formed and developed, and the initial formation of the diffusion mechanism has taken place. However, coordination problems in accompanying regional development have become increasingly prominent. Conclusions - This study focuses on the development of processing trade strategy and suggests overall coordination of development objectives, using non-balanced development goals. According to regional characteristics and development objectives of the processing trade in Shandong Province, the region around the city is divided into innovation diffusion region, enhanced growth areas, areas expected to undertake development, and areas to upgrade in four levels, given the different policy proposals.
