An improved procedure for earthquake resistant design of multistory building structures is proposed in this study. The effect of gravity load on seismic response of structures is evaluated through nonlinear dynamic analyses of a single story example structure. The presence of gravity load tends to initiate plastic hinge formation in earlier stage of a strong earthquake. However, the effect of gravity load seems to disapper as ground motion is getting stronger. And one of shortcomings in current earthquake resistant codes is overestimation of gravity load effects when earthquake load is applied at the same time so that it may leads to less inelastic deformation or structural damage in upper stories, and inelastic deformation is increased in lower stories. Based on these observation, an improved procedure for earthquake resistant design is derived by reducing the factor for gravity load and inceasing that for seismic load. Structures designed by the proposed design procedure turned out to have increased safety and stability against strong earthquakes.

The purpose of this study is to understand the elements of the standard of living aspired by today's Korean consumers with the consumer choice theory of the institutional school. This study attempted a qualitative method that is narration to collect live stories from 12 narrators. The results of this study indicated that Korean consumers eagerly aspired socially oriented standard of living which is farely materially oriented and mainly composed of a fixed list of famous brands. The physiological and welfare elements of the standard of living were not expressed in 12 narrators' stories. The personal and individual elements were also expressed within a limited extend. These results imply that the neoclassical theory of consumer choice is not appropiate for consumers in culture of collectivism.

Recently, needs for the window cleaning for 2~5 stories in a building has been increased but existing window cleaning work by workers is not easy to clean the windows. Therefore a demand for development of alternative techniques have been raised. The purpose of this study is to analyze feasibility of development of the guide rail-type cleaning device for cleaning window for the lower stories. For this, we analyze the status of the job, such as risk, limitations of by workers and examine the potential producer needs through interviewing field experts of the cleaning work. Futhermore, we define the required features of the window cleaning device and proposed the validity of the relised device development of the function.

This study examined the developmental aspects of sex role stereotypes among children and the impact of stereotypic and reversed stereotypic sex role content on children's sex-stereotypic thinking. In study I, subjects were 181 Korean children ranging from nursery and kindergarten to grade 1. SERLI was used to measure children's sex role stereotypes. In study II, the subjects were 62 six-year-old kindergarten children of each sex. 4 experimental stories were developed haled on Hong(1991). A test-retest design was used to study sex role stereotypes and the impact of stereotypic and reversed-stereotypic sex role content. Statistical analysis of obtained data was by an ANOVA and two-way analysis of co-variance. Results revealed that 6-year-old children's sex role stereotypes were higher than 5-and 7-year-old children. Boys were higher than girls on children's sex role stereotypes. Children exposed to reversed sex role content changed significantly in the direction of reversed stereotyping.

The fact that the major cases of life casualties are from smoke in the fire accidents and the expected steep increase of skyscrapers, huge spaces, multiplexes and huge scaled underground spaces demand establishment of efficient smoke countermeasure. The field experiments on pressure differential systems for smoke management in two high buildings of 20 stories and 21 stories are carried out to evaluate the features of airflow through open door between accommodation and lobby. The procedures and results of experiments are presented.

The Mixed building structures can be divided into three partition, namely, upper wall, lower frame, and transfer system which link two partitions. The purpose of this study is to investigate the nonlinear response characteristics of structures, as the stories of lower frame of mixed building structures changes. The recorded earthquake ground motions of EI Centro 1940 NS is adopted, and the maximum ground accelerations are adjusted to 55ga1, 110ga1, 220ga1, 330ga1. The conclusions of this study are the following. 1) The responses of model that the story of lower frame is one were different from those of other models. 2) The process of ductility hinge occurrence of member was ends of coupling beam of upper wall and ends of beam of lower frame in 55ga1, bases of shear wall on pit floor in 110ga1, and bases of column of 1F in 220ga1.

The world has been transfiguring so rapidly thesedays. Especially, Shanghai, the symbol of the modernization of China, its speed is now so transcendental, indeed. A lot of Korean companies have made inroads into the China market so actively. There a building called PosPlaza was investigated by PohangJechul(POSCO) in the financial business trade area of Pudong, Shanghai. It has a main building of thirty-four stories with an industrial of four stories as an office area, which is now perceived as a symbolic architecture of Pudong. As for many employers who needed a large-scale restaurant, it was planned to pursue the convenience, to feel the Korean traditions and the cozy of the sunshine through the large flat window with the simplicity as the people enter the main hall.

This study is a preference reversal about a policeman image and evaluation by roadside higher stories meeting dwelling pot to the center, and it is an examination, the thing that it analyzed by proposals. is a service providing the story synopses that match user's query. This paper analyzes the user log of which is the answers to the queries to find stories from database, and shows the tendency distribution of user creation. Specially, we analyze a joint distribution of the genres and actions of stories to get better understanding of the tendencies that cannot be found in the analysis of independent distribution. Furthermore, we define a correlation factor between genre and action, and investigate what combinations of the genres and actions are highly, less, and negatively correlated. Finally, we investigate how the tendencies of characters are related to genres and actions, and propose a visualization method to show the tendencies.

In our life, stories are ubiquitous. Such stories of our lives are shared during counseling and psychotherapy. Modern storytelling is not limited to image and digital media. It encompasses various media, including offline contents such as festivals and theme parks. Furthermore, it is also utilized in film therapy. Film therapy refers to all the methods that utilize films and image media in counseling and psychotherapy. This paper summarizes and analyzes film therapy that utilizes storytelling. As the result of this analysis, it was found that we could gain insight into the identity of patients and their treatment through the storytelling that utilized films.
