The electronic refrigerating kimchi jar operates with a low noise because it contains no compressor but it consumes more energy than that of an refrigerator with compressor. In this paper, the heat flow characteristics and cooling performance of an electronic refrigerating kimchi jar are studied by means of experiments. When the storage temperature is kept in a range of $-5.7^{\circ}C$ to $4.1^{\circ}C$. in the case of three ambient temperatures; $12.7^{\circ}C$, $22.3^{\circ}C$ and $32.2^{\circ}C$, the cooling performance of $20{\ell}$ kimchi jar is investigated. The experiments show that the temperature difference that exists between kimchi jar and its ambient provides a measure of the coefficient of performance of kimchi jar. It is also found that ratio of net pumping heat to the heat pumping rate of thermoelectric module is independent of the temperature difference.

Styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) composites, incorporated with graphene, molybdenum disulfide and their hybrid in different filling ratio, were fabricated by a two roll-mill. The dispersion states of all the samples' matrix were employed by carbon black dispersion tester. The curing properties of the pre-vulcanized rubber composites were investigated, after molding by heating press machine, the tensile strength, storage modulus, friction coefficient, the swelling property had also been tested according to ASTM. The composite G1M10 (filling with 1 phr graphene and 10 phr molybdenum) showed the best mechanical properties and viscoelastic properties in this research with a better filler dispersion state and more compact matrix structure.
The Clark unit hydrograph is a three parameter synthetic unit hydrograph procedure that can be used in flood hydrology. The present work is an attempt to estimate parameters of the Clark model in ungaged basin by means of relationships that provides for the hydrologic similarity. The time area concentration curve was determined by analytic method and the Clark model was generalized by being made dimensionless form. Calculation of the concentration time was made with the formula fractal concept used, and the storage coefficient was estimated by the empirical and regional equation. Evaluation on Dongok basin was performed to prove the validity of the proposed model. The derived hydrograph predicted the observed hydrograph fairly well.
The proposed flood forecasting system combines a flood routing model with a parameter estimation model. In the parameter estimation model system states and parameters are treated with the extended state-space formulation. The extended Kalman filter is adopted to estimate the states and parameters. A sensitivity analysis is used to investigate the relative significance of the parameters. Insensitive parameters are treated as constants and parameters that are mutually correlated are combined in a simplified form. The developed estimation methodology is applied todam sites of the multi-purpose reservoirs in Korea. The forecasted hydrographs from the extended Kalman filter satisfactorily coincide with the observed. From the time sequence plots of estimated parameters, it is found that the storage coefficient is almost constant, but exponent varies appreciably in time.
Rehabilitation work is required to increase well productivity, which decreases with the elapsed time of pumping owing to the clogging of the water well. Clogging causes not only a reduction in the well productivity but also a deterioration of the water quality. For unclogging and rehabilitating wells, several techniques are used such as brushing, air surging, surge blocks, and gas impulse. In this study, the high-pressure air impulse technique, which effectively and economically rehabilitates wells, was applied to a riverbank filtration site in Korea for the same objective. At most of the wells, the hydraulic parameters (transmissivity, storage coefficient, and specific capacity) were increased by the application of the high-pressure air impulse technique. The well loss change values also indicate an increase in the hydraulic parameters by the air impulse implementation. Thus, the high-pressure air impulse technique can be efficiently and economically applied to water and riverbank filtration wells for rehabilitating the decreased productivity.

Rainwater harvesting system (RWH) can provide a relief for the household and farmers especially in areas with intense water scarcity during the long lull of rainy season. However, much attention has not been given to this alternative water source in Nigeria. This paper estimates the per capita water demand for 1,950 inhabitants and rainwater potential in Ojonbodu Estate, Oyo State, Nigeria, using data from detailed questionnaires, water consumption calculator software, and 20-year rainfall data. The potential rainwater estimation was based on amount of precipitation, size of catchment and runoff coefficient. Consequently, using estimated values of $39420m^3$ and $6.5114{\times}10^7m^3$ for per capita consumption and potential rainwater respectively, the rainwater harvesting system was designed for rainwater collection, and storage. The harvested rainwater was $450, 000m^3$ with collection efficiency of 69.16 %, which exceeded the household water consumption requirement. Thus, the harvested rainwater was able to meet the estimated water demand of the Ojonbodu Estate households during the period of water scarcity.

In recent years, polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) based cogeneration system has received more and more attention from energy researchers because beside electricity, the system also meets the residential thermal demand. However, the low-quality heat exited from PEMFC should be increased temperature before direct use or storage. This study proposes a method to utilize the heat exhausted from a 10 kW PEMFC by coupling a heat pump. Two different configuration using heat pump and a reference layout with heater are analyzed in term of thermal and total efficiency. The system coefficient of performance (COP) increases from 0.87 in layout with heaters to 1.26 and 1.29 in configuration with heat pump and cascade heat pump, respectively. Lastly, based on system performance result, another study in economics point of view is proposed.
Laboratories and industrial processes typically involve the use of flammable substances. An important property used to estimate fire and explosion risk for a flammable liquid is the flash point. In this study, flash point data at 101.3 kPa were determined using a SETA closed cup flash point tester on the following solvent mixtures: {2,2,4-trimethylpentane + methylcyclohexane}, {2,2,4-trimethylpentane + ethylbenzene}, and {2,2,4-trimethylpentane + p-xylene}. The purpose of this work is to obtain flash point data for binary mixtures of 2,2,4-trimethylpentane with three hydrocarbons (methylcyclohexane, ethylbenzene, and p-xylene), which are representative compounds of the main aromatic hydrocarbon fractions of petroleum. The measured flash points are compared with the predicted values calculated using the GE models' activity coefficient patterns: the Wilson, the Non-Random Two-Liquid (NRTL), and the UNIversal QUAsiChemical (UNIQUAC) models. The non-ideality of the mixture is also considered. The average absolute deviation between the predicted and measured lower flash point s is less than 1.99 K, except when Raoult's law is calculated. In addition, the minimum flash point behavior is not observed in any of the three binary systems. This work's predicted results can be applied to design safe petrochemical processes, such as identifying safe storage conditions for non-ideal solutions containing volatile components.

Solar energy is one of the most important alternative energy sources which have been shown to meet high levels of heating and cooling demands in buildings. However, the efficiencies to satisfy these demands using solar energy significantly vary based on the characteristics of individual building. Therefore, this paper is focused on developing the methodology which can help to design optimal solar system for heating and cooling to be in cooperated within the existing buildings according to their load profiles. This research has established the Solar Heating and Cooling (SHC) system which is composed of collectors, absorption chiller, boiler and heat storage tank. Each component of SHC system is analyzed and made by means of Modelica Language and Pistache tool is verified the results. Sequential approximate optimization (SAO) and meta-models determined to 15 design parameters to optimize SHC system. Finally, total coefficient of performance (COP) of the entire SHC system is improved approximately 7.3% points compared to total COP of the base model of the SHC system.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to develop an air sampling and analytical method for estimating worker exposure to linear carbonate solvents and to evaluate the method. Methods: The target substances were three linear carbonates: DMC, DEC, EMC. GC/FID was used for sample analysis. Laboratory experiments were conducted to determine desorption solvents and sample capacity, and to evaluate storage stability, accuracy, and precision. Results: Coconut Shell Charcoal (CSC, 100/50 mg) was used as the air sampling media, and a desorption solvent of 5% methanol/95% dichloromethane was selected. Recommended sampling capacities were 1~11 ℓ for DMC, 1~18 ℓ for DEC, and 1~24 ℓ for EMC. The stability of three linear carbonates was demonstrated over 30 days in a refrigerator (4℃). Detection limits were determined as follows: DMC 0.26 ㎍/sample, DEC 0.24 ㎍/sample, and EMC 0.25 ㎍/sample. The total coefficient of variation was calculated as DMC 0.064, DEC 0.079, and EMC 0.07. Conclusions: This sampling and analysis method is suitable for estimating personal exposure to linear carbonates in the workplace.
