  • There is the temporal correlation of a animation sequence between the motion vector of current block and the motion vector of previous block. In this paper, we propose the scene change detection algorithm for block matching using the temporal correlation of the animation sequence and the center-biased property of motion vectors. The proposed algorithm determines the location of a better starting point for the search of an exact motion vector using the point of the smallest SAD(sum of absolute difference) value by the predicted motion vector from the same block of the previous frame and the predictor candidate point on each search region. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has better detection performance, such as recall rate, then the existing method. The algorithm has the advantage of speed, simplicity and accuracy. In addition, it requires less amount of storage.

  • The SNUH has started a PACS project with three main goals : to develop a fully hospital-integrated PACS, to develop a cost effective PACS using open systems architecture, and to extend PACS' role to the advanced application such as image guided surgery, multi-media assisted education and research. In order to achieve these goals, we have designed a PACS architecture which takes advantages of client-server computing, high speed communication network, computing power of up-to-date high-end PC, and advanced image compression method. We have installed ATM based communication network in radiology department and in-patient wards, and implemented DICOM compliant acquisition modules, image storage and management servers, and high resolution display workstations based on high-end PC and Microsoft Windows 95 and Windows NT operating systems. The SNUH PACS is in partial scale operation now, and will be expanded to full scale by the end of 1998.

  • Recently, image signal processing techniques for HDTV signal have been drastically developed. This kind of skill improvement on signal processing need specific memory device for video signal. in this paper, data latch scheme which implements CMOS flip-flop to hold Information from in-put strobe and new reading method is devised to attain a proper access time suitable for HDTY signal. Compared with conventional write scheme, data latch method has two procedures to complete write operation : bit line write and storage cell write, enabling concurrent I /0 operation at the same address. Also, fast read access is possible through the method similar to static column mode and the separated read word line.

  • Resistance random access memory (ReRAM) is a promising candidate for next-generation nonvolatile memory because of its advantageous qualities such as simple structure, superior scalability, fast switching speed, low-power operation, and nondestructive readout. We investigated the resistive switching behavior of tantalum oxide that has been widely used in dynamic random access memories (DRAM) in the present semiconductor industry. As a result, it possesses full compatibility with the entrenched complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor processes. According to previous studies, TiN is a good oxygen reservoir. The TiN top electrode possesses the specific properties to control and modulate oxygen ion reproductively, which results in excellent resistive switching characteristics. This study presents fully room temperature fabricated the TiN/$TaO_x$/Pt devices and their electrical properties for nonvolatile memory application. In addition, we investigated the TiN electrode dependence of the electrical properties in $TaO_x$ memory devices. The devices exhibited a low operation voltage of 0.6 V as well as good endurance up to $10^5$ cycles. Moreover, the benefits of high devise yield multilevel storage possibility make them promising in the next generation nonvolatile memory applications.

  • We present a sequential stereoscopic display system using volume holographic storage. Multiple angular multiplexed stereoscopic image pairs are recorded into a photorefractive crystal that can store data with high density, transfer them with high speed, and select a randomly chosen data element. The reference beam with Bragg selectivity is scattered by the index grating and the diffracted beams are propagating along the directions of the stereoscopic image pairs. The images are to be suitably projected on the left and right display plane sequentially for stereoscopic video viewing.

  • The IAEA held the IAEA Robotics Challenge 2017 (IRC2017) to protect workers during inspections of spent nuclear fuel and to improve work efficiency and accuracy rates. To this end, we developed an unmanned surface vehicle (USV) system called the spent fuel check vehicle (SCV). The SCV extracts and tracks the target through image processing, and it is necessary to find suitable parameters for the SNF storage environment in advance. This preliminary work takes time. It is also difficult to prepare the environment in which the work will proceed. In addition, if the preliminary work does not proceed as planned, the system will not move at the proper speed and will become unstable, with yawing and overshoot. To solve this problem, we developed a controller with a camera that can extract the depth at which the target is stored and allow distance-adaptive control. This controller is able to attenuate system instability factors such as yawing and overshoot better than existing controllers by continuously changing system operation parameters according to the depth. In addition, the time required for preliminary work during inspections can be shortened.

  • We propose the various Telemedicine applications using collaborative PACS environment. Traditionally, almost all medical images have been printed on radiological films. These films are expensive to produce and easy to misplace and usually only one copy exists, thus limiting the number of persons who have simultaneous access to the images. But the merit of this system including PACS(Picture Archiving and Communications System ) is very many which are small depository, low maintenance expense, good efficience(storage, speed) and good flexibility but the development costs is higher. This research has been done creating multimedia-based Telemedicine system for home PCs in network environment. Most of Telemedicine used hardware and exclusive line of high cost as CATV broadcasting technique. But this system will contribute to change the Home-PC for better use of collaborations among doctor and patients through various modes of interactions in cyberspace.

  • Today, The much amount of spam that occupies the mail server and network storage occurs the lack of negative issues, such as overload, and for users to delete the spam should spend time, resources have a problem. Automatic spam filtering on the incidence to solve the problem is essential. A lot of Spam filters have tried to solve the problem emerged as an essential element automatically. Unlike traditional method such as Naive Bayesian, PCA through the many-dimensional data set of spam with a few spindle-dimensional process that narrowed the operation to reduce the burden on certain groups for classification Logistic regression analysis method was used to filter the spam. Through the speed and performance, it was able to get the positive results.

  • Flash Memory which is light and strong external shock as storage of small electronics like smartphone, digital camera, car black box has been widely used. Since the operation speed of the read operation and the write operation are different from each other, and the flash memory has the feature that it is not possible to overwrite, the delete operation is added to solve these problems. Wear-leveling must also be considered, since the number of erase times of the flash memory is limited. Many studies have been conducted on the substitutional algorithms of flash memory based on these characteristics of recent flash memories. So, to solve the problem that has existing buffer replacement algorithm this thesis divide page into 6 groups and when proposed algorithm select victim page, it consider reference page frequency and page recency.

  • In this paper, we present a three-dimensional (3D) optical encryption technique for quick response (QR) code using computational synthesized integral imaging, computational volumetric reconstruction, and double random phase encryption. Two-dimensional (2D) QR code has many advantages, such as enormous storage capacity and high reading speed. However, it does not protect primary information. Therefore, we present 3D optical encryption of QR code using double random phase encryption (DRPE) and an integral imaging technique for security enhancement. We divide 2D QR code into four parts with different depths. Then, 2D elemental images for each part of 2D QR code are generated by computer synthesized integral imaging. Generated 2D elemental images are encrypted using DRPE, and our method increases the level of security. To validate our method, we report simulations of 3D optical encryption of QR code. In addition, we calculated the peak side-lobe ratio (PSR) for performance evaluation.
