야콘의 항산화성 및 야콘 초절임제품의 저장 중 품질특성 (Antioxidative Activity of Yacon and Changes in the Quality Characteristics of Yacon Pickles during Storage)

  • The purpose of this study was to measure the antioxidant activity of yacon root and to manufacture yacon pickles for commercialization as a functional food. The total phenol content in yacon roots were the highest, 29.96 mg GAE/ 100 g, in the ethyl acetate fraction and the DPPH radical scavenging activity and ABTS radical scavenging activity was 37.07%, and 91.60%, respectively, in the ethyl acetate fraction. The optimum recipe for the pickling solution was determined to be vinegar, water and high fructose corn syrup, at 34%, 22% and 44%, respectively. The quality characteristics of yacon pickles using this solution were monitored during storage at $25^{\circ}C$ for 43 days. The pH value decreased to 2.98 (42 days) during storage and $^{\circ}Brix$ gradually increased during storage. The L-value decreased significantly during storage but there were no significant changes detected in the a and b values. No significant changes were detected in the hardness of the yacon pickles. According to the sensory evaluation, no significant changes in taste, texture and overall acceptance of yacon pickle were observed during storage. These results indicated that yacon was an excellent functional food in terms of its antioxidant activity and that pickling might be a promising methods to maintain the taste and quality of yacon during storage.

Physical Developer(PD)의 신뢰성 테스트(reagent reliability test)를 위한 타겟물질 탐색과 TWEEN® 20 기반 PD 작업용액의 보관기간에 관한 연구 (Identifying the potential target substance of physical developer (PD) for reagent reliability test and a study on storage period of TWEEN® 20 based PD working solution)

  • Physical developer (PD)는 젖었거나 탄화된 종이의 지문, 그리고 매우 오래된 종이의 지문까지도 현출할 수 있는 효과적인 기법이다. 하지만, 어떤 물질과 반응하는지 밝혀지지 않았고 작업용액의 보관기간에 따른 최적화 시점 또한 알려지지 않았다. PD를 좀 더 효과적으로 활용하기 위해서는 이 두가지 이슈를 해결해야 한다. 본 연구에서는 이를 위해 지문을 구성하는 것으로 알려진 수용성 물질 7가지와 지용성 물질 5가지로 spot test를 하였고 그 중 palmitic acid와 lysine의 혼합물이 PD와 가장 강하게 반응한다는 것을 알아내었다. 또한, 1,2-indanedione/zinc (1,2-IND/Zn) 용액을 처리하여 lysine이 용해되지 않았음을 확인하였다. 이 두 물질의 혼합물을 PD 작업용액의 지문 현출 성능을 시험하기 위한 신뢰성 테스트(reagent reliability test)의 타겟물질로 활용하여 TWEEN® 20 기반 PD 작업용액의 보관기간에 따른 최적화 시점을 확인하였다. 그 결과, 14일이 지났을 때 가장 뛰어난 결과를 나타냈으며 그 이후부터는 반응이 점점 약해졌다.

In-situ measurement of railway-traffic induced vibrations nearby the liquid-storage tank

  • In this study, result of a field investigation of railway traffic-induced vibrations is provided to examine acceptability levels of ground vibration and to evaluate the serviceability of a liquid-storage tank. Free field attenuation of the amplitudes as a function of distance is derived by six accelerometers and compared with a well-known half-space Bornitz's analytical solution which considers the loss of the amplitude of waves due to geometrical damping and material damping of Rayleigh. Bornitz's solution tends to overlap vertical free field vibration compared with in-situ measured records. The vibrations of the liquid-storage tank were compared with the USA, Federal Transportation Railroad Administration (FTA) criteria for acceptable ground-borne vibrations and with the criteria in DIN 4150-3 German standard. Comparing the thresholds stated in DIN 4150-3, absolute peak particle velocities are within the safe limits, however according to FTA velocity level at the top of the water tank exceeds the allowable limits. Furthermore, it is intended to indicate experimentally the effect of the kinematic interaction caused by the foundation of the structure on the free-field vibrations.

TSSG growth, morphology and properties of potassium lithium niobate (KLN) crystals

  • In the present paper, potassium lithium niobate(KLN) crystals have been grown along <001>, <100> and <110> directions by the top seeded solution growth (TSSG) method from Li-richer melts with different compositions. The morphologies of KLN crystals grown along different directions have been studied, and the well-developed facets have been unambiguously indexed using X-ray goniometer and stereographic projection analysis. The growth mechanism and defects such as cracks and inclusions were discussed on the basis of observations of facets on the crystal-solution interfaces. The crystal compositions were determined by a chemical analysis method. The structure and lattice constants of KLN crystals were determined and calculated on the basis of XRD data by using TREOR90 and PIRUM programs. The Curie temperature and optical absorption were determined by dielectric constant peak and spectrum measurements. respectively. The blue second harmonic generation (SHG) characteristics of KLN sample were also investigated using a pulsed dye laser.

  • The peculiarity of ice slurry, such as liquidity, high heat transfer rate and easy storage can also find to supercooled type dynamic ice storage system(DISS) which is one of the DISS. However, in order to accomplish continuous ice formation in the system without mechanical moving parts, supercooled aqueous solutionshould be formed stable through cooling heat exchanger and be dissoluted in storage tank. In previous research, the time of ice slurry increased as the pressure of the cooling heat exchanger(PHX) increased. In this study, a cooling experiment of an ethylene glycol 7mass% solution was performed with various inlet temperature of the PHX, which has constant brine inlet temperature of $-7^{\circ}C$. The temperature in the storage tank maintained to freezing point of the solution. At results, the time of ice slurry formation increased as the supercooling degree decreased and the cooling rate increased.

  • The determination of completion time constitutes an important step in developing algorithms for short-term production scheduling. Existing completion time algorithms of multi-product batch processes often assume that intermediate storage tanks are always available when it is needed. In this paper, we consider a serial multi-product batch plants with ZW and NIS policy intermediate storge tank. We limit storage residence time and allocated products in the intermediate storage tank to minimize the quality change of the stored material as well as to reduce the clearing time during product change. A set of recurrence relations is suggested to calculate the completion times for the given batch sequence of products on all processing units. Also analytic solution for the suggested model is solved by a graphical method. The effectiveness of these results is proved by a few illustrative examples.

직접 접촉식을 이용한 빙축열 시스템 (Cold Energy Storage System Using Direct Contact Heat Transfer)

  • In this study, experimental investigations to find cold energy storage performance have been made for two different temperatures at condenser. Temperatures at inlet and outlet of condenser were measured to calculate global heat transfer coefficient of direct contact method in our cold energy storage system. Also storage performance by direct contact method was compared with that of Ice-On-Coil type ice storage which was calculated by analytic solution. Results show that, in the case of $-8.0^{\circ}C$ at condenser inlet, heat transfer coefficient of direct contact method is 3.25 times higher than that of conventional method and COP of system is improved by using R141b as refrigerant which produces gas hydrate and has higher phase change temperature than $0.0^{\circ}C$.

연속미디어 저장 서버에서의 실시간 저장 및 검색 기법 (Real-Time Storage and Retrieval Techniques for Continuous Media Storage Server)

  • In this paper, we address the issues related to storage and retrieval of continuous media (CM)data we face in designing multimedia on-demand (MOD) storage servers. To support the two orthogonal factors of MOD server design, i.e., storage and retrieval of CM data, this paper discusses the techniques of disk layout, disk striping and real-time disk scheduling, which are integrated as a combined solution to the high- performance MOD storage subsystem. The proposed clustered striping technique enables either a multiple-disk or a parallel system to guarantee a continuous retrieval of CM data at the bandwidth required to support user playback rate by avoiding the formation of I/O bottlenecks.

문치가자미, Limanda yokohamae 정자의 냉장보존 (Cold Storage of Sperm in Marbled Sole Limanda yokohamae)

  • A series of experiments were conducted to compare the effects of various diluents in cold storage on the marbled sole, Limanda yokohamae sperm. Various diluents of glucose, L. yokohamae serum, marine fish Ringer's solution, sodium citrate and Ca2+ free artificial seawater (ASM) (tris-HCI, pH 7.4) containing 3 mM ethylene glycol-bis (2-aminoethyl ether) tetraacetic acid (EGTA) were used to store the sperm at 4℃. The storage effect was evaluated using motility index and survival rate of sperm. Glucose and sodium citrate were found to be better diluents which maintained high motility and survival rate of sperm for a storage period of 10 days. Some morphological changes of spermatozoa were observed during the cold storage with diluents. In particular, a detachment of the nuclear enveloped and of the plasma membrane from the nucleus in spermatozoa was observed. Morphological normality of the stored spermatozoa diluted with 0.3 M glucose was better than that of the stored spermatozoa undiluted or diluted with Ca2+ free ASW containing 3 mM EGTA.

작업장에서 발생되는 케톤류 유기화합물의 탈착효율 및 저장안정성 (Desorption Efficiencies and Storage Stabilities of Ketones in Work Environment)

  • This study was performed to compare with desorption efficiency and storage stability of CSC and CMS tubes for Ketones in workplace air. 1. The best desorbing solution for CSC tube was 1 % or 3 % dimethylformamide(DMF) in carbon disulfide($CS_2$). The desorption efficiencies were 96.40 % for cyclohexanone, 94.86 % for acetone, 96.96 % for methyl ethyl ketone(MEK), 103.44 % for methyl isobutyl ketone(MIBK), 100.17 % for methyl amyl ketone(MAK), 100.43 % for methyl butyl ketone(MBK), 97.01 % for toluene and 99.33 % for trichloroethylene(TCE). 2. The best desorbing solution for CMS tube was 1 % or 3 % DMF in $CS_2$. The desorption efficiencies were 96.42 % for cyclohexanone, 98.53 % for acetone, 99.67 % for MEK, 105.48 % for MIBK, 100.13 % for MAK, 100.13 % for MBK, 95.42 % for toluene and 98.15 % for TCE. 3. In the storage condition at room temperature($20^{\circ}C$), the recovery rates of cyclohexanone and MEK on CSC tube were rapidly decreased 30.9 % and 50.9 % after 4 weeks, respectively. The recovery rates of all of 6 ketones and 2 nonpolar solvents were shown over 80 % after 1 week in the storage condition of refrigerate temperature($-4^{\circ}C$), and were kept over 80 % after 4 weeks in the storage condition of freezer temperature($-20^{\circ}C$). 4. The recovery rates of cyclohexanone on CMS tube were 80.6 % for 1 week after and 60.5 % for 4 weeks after at room temperature($20^{\circ}C$). The recovery rates of cyclohexanone were shown 80.6 % for 1 week after and 60.5 % for 4 weeks after at $-4^{\circ}C$, and of 6 ketones and 2 non-polar solvents were kept stable over 85 % at $-4^{\circ}C$ and over 97 % at $-20^{\circ}C$ for 4 weeks after. In conclusion, the best desorbing solution was 1 % or 3 % DMF in $CS_2$ and more appropriate sorbent tube for ketones and non-polar solvents was CMS than CSC. We recommend CSC tube would be useful if the samples analyzed within 1 week because CMS tubes are more expensive than CSC tubes. However, if the storage time is needed more than 3 weeks, CMS tubes should be suitable and the storage condition should be below $-20^{\circ}C$.
