  • This paper shows variations on bandwidth for the 5-microstrip 4-port structure by cutting out part of 2nd and 4th line of 5 lines. In 2nd line case, the bandwidth to pass is decreased by 300MHz and one of two input ports operates in diplexer. Both of 2nd and 4th line cut takes each of two input ports as a diplexer. The bandwidth for 4th line case has almost same bandwidth for the unmodified structure, a bit wider than that of the 2nd line case. Especially the isolation between input and other out port in center frequency of stop band shows 41dB for port 1, 32dB for port 2.

  • ATS(Automatic Train Stop)s are is effected by track environment, signal distance and train braking distance. So onboard signaling systems such as ATP(Automatic Train Protection) are installed on conventional lines by some train operation companies. With the mixed signalling, the onboard signaling system is overlaid on a conventional line with ATS, it is possible to run the line with conventional trains and ATP trains and to use the advantages of ATP(higher speed or more trains on the line). This paper includes guidelines a mixed signalling(ETCS and ATS) system architecture, operation concepts and infill balise installation.

  • Out of all metal-cutting process, the hole-making process is the most widely used. It is estimated to be more than 30% of the total metal-cutting process. It is therefore desirable to monitor and detect drill wear during the hole-drilling process. One important aspect in controlling the drilling process is monitoring drill wear status. There are two systems, Basic system and Online system, to detect the drill wear. Basic system comprised of spindle rotational speed, feed rates, thrust torque and flank wear measured by tool microscope. Outline system comprised of spindle rotational speed feed rates, AE signal, flank wear area measured by computer vision, On-line monitoring system does not need to stop the process to inspect drill wear. Backpropagation neural networks (BPNs) were used for on-line detection of drill wear. The output was the drill wear state which was either usable or failure. This paper deals with an on-line drill wear monitoring system to fit the detection of the abnormal tool state.

  • This paper presents the technology of condition diagnosis & life estimation on insulation system of the traction motor. In the non-destructive methods for diagnosis of coil insulation state, residual dielectric strength is estimated by the D-map which consist of the partial discharge quantity Q and average degradation degree $\Delta$. In the operating history of machine, the N-Y life estimation method is based on the stop-starting numbers and operating times with considering each degradation factor by the thermal, electrical and heat-cycle stress. With the on-line conditioning monitoring on the currents of traction motors, detecting the abnormal operating state due to bearing faults, stator or armature faults, eccentricity related faults and broken rotor bars can be performed.

  • In this study, a manufacturing process for PV module has been developed using an automatic arraying equipment. It is expected that this process could improve the productivity and curtail the production cost in the photovoltaic module production line. From the results, it is proved that this process reduces Line-stop and enhances the productivity more than 15% a day which can be related directly to the production line cost.

  • Recently, a countermeasure for the electromagnetic noise emission on RF integrated transmission line using the loss generation of ferromagnetic thin films is briefly suggested$\^$1,2/. Without the magnetic film, the noise harmonics of the signal pass through the transmission line with only a little attenuation. The ideal role of magnetic film is not to raise insertion losses in the pass-band and to give as large attenuation as possible to eliminate the noise harmonics at the stop-band, the frequency range higher than the meaningful signal as shown in Fig. 1. and Fig. 2. • As transit networks are becoming more multimodal, the concept of connectivity of transit networks becomes important. This study aims to develop a quantitative model for measuring the connectivity of multimodal transit networks. To that end, we select, as evaluation measures of a transit line, its length, capacity, and speed. We then define the connecting power of a transit line as the product of those measures. The degree centrality of a node, which is a widely used centrality measure in social network analysis, is employed with appropriate modifications suited for transit networks. Using the degree centrality of a transit stop and the connecting powers of transit lines serving the transit stop, we develop an index quantifying the level of connectivity of the transit stop. From the connectivity indexes of transit stops, we derive the connectivity index of a transit line as well as an area of a multimodal transit network. In addition, we present a method to evaluate the connectivity of a transfer center using the connectivity indexes of transit stops and passenger acceptance rate functions. A case study shows that the connectivity evaluation model developed in this study takes well into consideration characteristics of multimodal transit networks, adequately measures the connectivity of transit stops, lines, and areas, and furthermore can be used in determining the level of service of transfer centers.

  • ATS(Automatic Train Stop) system makes train stop when it runs over the speed limit and ensure the safe operation of train. Seoul Metro line 2 in Korea, which started its passenger service in 1982, has adopted ATS system for its signaling system. The ATS system has only a train stop function at the time of emergency, and Seoul Metro is planning to replaced them with ATC(Automatic Train Control)/ATO(Automatic Train Operation) system which can provide the dedicated speed control for headway reduction and automatic operation of train. Until all the ATS system is replaced with the new ATC system, both systems are to operate simultaneously at the same metro line. In this situation, ATS system sometimes reveals improper operation: train stops suddenly without any obstacles in front of it. These emergency stops cause interruption of passenger service, and abnormal abrasion of wheels and rail. This paper makes it clear that these interruptions are caused by EMI phenomena between ATS on-board device and ATC wayside device : Signal current flowing in AF track circuit of ATC is turn out to be a EMI source that prevent normal operation of the ATS on-board device. Although the two systems have different frequency-ranges (ATS system has frequency range between $78{\sim}130$[kHz] and ATC system has frequency range between $9.5{\sim}16.5$[kHz]), it turned out that EMI phenomena appears between the both systems. This is investigated by measuring the output signal from ATS on-board device passing over ATC wayside device. The FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) analysis of the signal reveals that AF track circuit signal is transmitted to the ATS on-board device and induce noise causing improper operation. The countermeasures to the EMI phenomena are examined in three ways; blocking EMI transmission, enforcement of EMS (Electromagnetic Susceptibility) of ATS on-board device, and blocking the EMI source. It is suggested that the practical solution be blocking EMI source temporarily, that is breaking AF track circuit signal when the trains with ATS on-board device pass over it. To this purpose, TODS(Train Occupation Detection System) is developed, and has made a success in preventing the EMI problem of Seoul Metro line 2.
