  • The human vision system has visual functions for viewing 3D images with a correct depth. These functions are called accommodation, vergence and binocular stereopsis. Most 3D display system utilizes binocular stereopsis. The authors have developed a monocular 3D vision system with accommodation mechanism, which is useful function for perceiving depth.

  • This paper presents a visual feedback system that controls a micromanipulator using multiple microscopic vision information. The micromanipulation stations basically have optical microscope. However the single field-of-view of optical microscope essentially limits the workspace of the micromanipulator and low dept-of-field makes it difficult to handle 3D-shaped micro objects. The system consists of a stereoscopic microscope, three CCD cameras, the micromanipulator and personal computer. The use of stereoscopic microscope which has long working distance and high depth-of-field with selective field-of-view improves the recognizability of 3D-shaped micro objects and provides a method for overcoming several essential limitations in micromanipulation. Thus, visual feedback information is very important in handling micro objects for overcoming those limitations and provides a mean for the ...

  • An experimental method for measuring side-necking deformation near a crack-tip is described. It is based on Stereoscopic Digital Speckle Photography and Digital Image Correlation, and it is simple and robust to mechanical vibration inherent to a hydraulic material test system. The validity and accuracy are evaluated through a calibration fur rigid body translation. A case study has been performed for a CT specimen made of a ductile steel and the three dimensional profiles of the side-necked region are presented as the load increases. Also, the details of the procedure and the surface treatment are discussed.

  • The stereoscopic vision system is the algorithm to obtain the depth of target object of stereo vision image. This paper presents an efficient disparity matching method using blue edge filter and graph cut algorithm. We do recommend the use of the simple sobel edge operator. The application of B band sobel edge operator over image demonstrates result with somewhat noisy (distinct border). The basic technique is to construct a specialized graph for the energy function to be minimized such that the minimum cut on the graph also minimizes the energy (either globally or locally). This method has the advantage of saving a lot of data. We propose a preprocessing effective stereo matching method based on sobel algorithm which uses blue edge information and the graph cut, we could obtain effective depth map.

  • The stereoscopic vision system is the algorithm to obtain the depth of target object of stereo vision image. This paper presents an efficient disparity matching method using nagao filter, octree color quantization and dynamic programming algorithm. we describe methods for performing color quantization on full color RGB images, using an octree data structure. This method has the advantage of saving a lot of data. We propose a preprocessing stereo matching method based on Nagao-filter algorithm using color information. using the nagao filter, we could obtain effective depth map and using the octree color quantization, we could reduce the time of computation.

  • Passenger safety is a primary concern of railway system but, it has been urgent issue that dozens of people are killed every year when they falloff from train platforms. Recently, advancements in IT have enabled applying vision sensors to railway environments, such as CCTV and stereo camera sensors. In this paper, we propose a stereoscopic video coding scheme for subway accident monitoring system. The proposed scheme is designed for providing flexible video among various displays, such as control center, station employees and train driver. We uses MPEG-2 standard for coding the left-view sequence and IBMDC for predicting the P- and B-types of frames of the right-view sequence. IBMDC predicts matching block by interpolating both motion and disparity predicted macroblocks. To provide efficient stereoscopic video service. we define both temporally and spatially scalable layers for each eye's-view by using the concept of Spatio-Temporal scalability. According to the experimental results. we expect the proposed functionalities will play a key role in establishing highly flexible stereoscopic video codec for ubiquitous display environment where devices and network connections are heterogeneous.

  • Since the movie "Avatar" made world-widely a big success, people's interest to 3D stereoscopic vision has been increasing explosively. However, it is hard to predict that for how long this tremendous attention to 3D stereoscopic would last; consumers have accumulated experience and predominant consciousness from social and cultural environmental various factors. This paper, we will try to see how people interact with 3D stereo through the empirical study. Using Jannett (2009)'s immersion questionnaire, we will measure how different people get immersed while playing game in 3D stereoscopic and 2D.

  • Stereoscopic imaging is an important branch in the field of digital imaging, and has grown significantly over the last two decades through research and development. Hologram projection technology based on stereoscopic technology has been a social issue since the development of the Hungarian physicist Daniel Garber in 1947. It is becoming more and more important as stereoscopic works using similar technologies are applied to various fields. This study analyzed content cases using classical and creative stereoscopic technology from the perspective of digital image content design and explored the multiprotocol direction of holographic projection.

  • Purpose. This study conducted visual function training for children under 12 years of age who relapsed after surgery for intermittent exotropia. We are trying to find out whether the visual function has been improved by visual function training. Methods. After surgery, the subject with recurrent exotropia was given a prescription for refractive error, followed by visual function training and vision therapy with visual sence using prisms and lenses. Results. The subjects' positive relative convergence improved to 19.69𝚫, corrected visual acuity improved to 0.88, and stereoscopic vision function improved to 53.08 arc second. It was found that the smaller the angle of deviation at the time of recurrence after surgery, the better the vision therapy effect. Conclusions. It can be seen that visual function training is helpful in improving visual function, and the importance of visual function training can be known.
